India’s first mosque. This landmark building is among the most important of India’s historic, architecturally stunning mosques. It is said that the ancient oil lamp present in this mosque has supposedly been burning since the origin of the mosque. Moreover, the architectural awesomeness of the building makes our heart calm .

This is the oldest juma masjid in india.and have great historical importance.prophet mohammed (pbuh) send a stone.and it is used as the first stone at the time of foundation.it built at 629Ad.now masjid committee is renovating by the help of govt (tourism dept) they concentrated to keep the traditional style of that masjid. That is the old style used in the temple and also masjids in kerala. There is tomb of habeeb ibu Malik and his wife khumariya (son of Malik ibnu dhinar) inside this masjid.there is a beautiful lamp inside the masjid which was used before coming of electricity.now new masjid will come in underground and this old masjid will keep in traditional style.it is located by the side of Cochin highway. About 30-40km from cochin .a museum is situated inside the compount where u can get information about the masjid

I visited first day of my trip nice and best divine place The significance of Cheraman Juma Majsid in the Muziris Heritage Project lies in the fact that it is the first mosque in India. Built in 629 AD by Malik Ibn Dinar it is located in the district of Thrissur in Kerala, on the Paravur-Kodungallur road. The oral tradition is that Cheraman Perumal, the Chera king, went to Arabia where he met the Prophet and embraced Islam. From there he had sent letters with Malik Ibn Dinar to his relatives in Kerala, asking them to be courteous to the latter. The masjid is believed to have been renovated in the 11th century and also 300 years ago. The front portion was expanded in 1974 and further expanded in 1984. The older part of the mosque including the Sanctum Sanctorum is left untouched and is still preserved. Its grandeur is still kept alive by the wooden steps and ceiling. People of all religions come to this mosque and many non-Muslims conduct vidhyarambham (initiation ceremony to the world of letters) of their children here.

The Cheramaan Juma Mosque is a mosque in Kodungallur. The oldest mosque in the Indian subcontinent. It was built by Malik Deenar, Persian اَلتَّابِعُونَ‎ of the  prophet Muhammad ﷺ , on the orders of the successor of Cheraman Perumal, the Chera King of modern-day Kerala. The mosque was constructed in Kerala style with hanging lamps, making the historicity of its date claims more convincing.

Cheraman Juma Masjid is the first mosque in India . It was built in 629 AD. You can search and read history about it. It is located in Kodungallur town which is 32km from Kochi (Ernakulam) ,you can have Kerala govt bus from Jetty Boat Road in Kochi for Kodungallur. Time it will take around 1 hour 15 mintues and you can say to your driver to stop near to Cheraman masjid. Nearest railway station is Aluva from where you can have bus to reach here, but I will suggest from Kochi. Masjid is in very peaceful as usual , infrastructure is what you wish to see ,regular maintenance is going on. It is on road and you can get return bus from outside the mosque. Bus fare will be around 50 ,Non Ac . You will be happy to visit and witness the first ever mosque in India. No ticket,it will be free. Hit like if you feel worth describing.

Situated in Methala, Kodungallur . A legend claims that it was built in 629 CE, which makes it the oldest mosque in the Indian subcontinent which is still in use . It has temple like structure now . Construction works are still going on and couldn’t see the pool because of that . It will take an year to complete . The security there showed me the place around and explained the history .Also saw the millennium year old Nilavilakku inside the mosque . There is a dove feeding area but doves are not friendly right now . Museum is not open now

One of The most beautiful mosques in the world is a spectacular structure that boasts an equally beautiful heritage and history. They attract tourists from around the world, who admire their beauty as much as the architectural excellence and finesse Built-in 629 AD, the mosque is the first in India and the oldest in the subcontinent. A part of Kerala’s rich cultural history, the mosque exemplifies the confluence of cultures in ancient India. As a believer, u must try to visit in a lifetime if u live in India.
