Though
I
have
known
Cheenavala
for
long,
never
tried
that
until
last
Sunday.
Being
a
fish
lover,
we
decided
to
be
there
for
my
birthday
lunch.
First
of
all,
if
it's
a
weekend,
be
there
by
around
12:30,
or
else
be
ready
to
wait
for
at
least
30
minutes
as
they
don't
take
table
reservations.
We
reached
there
around
01:30
pm
but
got
seated
only
by
02:00
pm.
The
good
thing
is
that
they
have
very
spacious
dine
in
to
accommodate
a
large
crowd.
Second,
if
you
are
in
queue,
do
ask
for
the
menu
and
choose
your
dishes
so
that
you
can
save
time.
Furthermore,
if
you
would
like
to
check
a
live
fish,
choose
the
fish
and
the
masala
while
you
are
waiting
for
the
table.
Being
a
fish
lover,
I
straight
away
checked
the
fish
counter,
and
the
guy
suggested
'Kalanji'
with
the
special
cheenavala
signature
masala
(the
one
they
suggest).
Along
with
that,
we
ordered
a
'Neymeen'
tawa
fry,
and
'Honey
glazed
squid
ring',
and
the
main
course
was
'Cheenavala
thaali'.
'Honey
glazed
squid
ring'
was
good.
Thaali
meals
(kerala
brown
boiled
rice)
was
ok,
but
the
fish
curry
was
bad.
The
top
performer
was
obviously
'Kalanji
tawa
grill'.
It
was
really
good
and
I
suggest
having
it
with
hot
kerala
porotta
and
not
the
meals.
The
'Neymeen'
tawa
fry
was
below
average
as
the
masala
was
not
properly
into
the
fish.
Finally,
to
try,
we
ordered
a
fried
ice
cream.
As
I
was
having
it
for
the
first
time,
I
had
some
expectations,
but
it
didn't
match
that.
You
will
find
this
a
little
expensive
as
the
check
amounted
to
Rs.
3.5k
for
the
aforesaid
lunch
menu
😉
Anyway,
if
you
are
a
fish
lover,
'Cheenavala'
is
a
restaurant
which
you
can
try
at
least
once
for
sure.
Dedicated
parking
space
is
available
for
all
the
tables,
but
as
I
said,
if
you
are
in
queue,
you
may
have
to
wait
to
park
your
car.
Accepts
all
mode
of
payment.
