Located at iranjalakuda Trissur; the idol in this temple is believed to be of "Baratha" (the younger brother of Lord Rama) worshipped by lord Krishna himself. It's a very traditional and unique temple. The nalambalam has similar construction and design to Triprayar Temple. The sreekovil features a round construction with lots of intricate artworks. However the age shows as they are not probabably well preserved. It is also famous for its koothambalam. It is also unique in the sense that, pradkshinam is done just like in a Siva temple, also this temple has its on dewasom board. It's the second temple among the Nalambalams and is almost 15 kms away from Triprayar.Toilets and good parking facilities are available. Its a must visit temple in Kerala.

Koodalmanikyam Temple is the only ancient temple in India dedicated to the worship of Bharata, the third brother of Rama, however the idol is that of Vishnu. "Sangameshwara"(Lord of the Confluence) is another name associated with the deity at Koodalmanikyam.

It is the only temple in India whose deity is Bharata brother of Lord Rama. Around the temple you will find four ponds of which the Kuttan Kulam is the largest one. Majority id temple sin Kerala have a custom of five poojas and three sivelis a day . But in this temple there is ni siveli and are only three poojas. A divine temple with cultural and spiritual significance. Clean and much different in terms of rituals. It is best to visit during early hours. Calm, quiet, and well maintained. Important to pay money to staff and bhramins inside the temple than drop money in hundis, as donations in hundis go to government and for secular circus. There is ample parking and the place is huge and a visit will take from 45 mins to an hour. There are various etymological and historical records in and around the temple if interested.

This is Bharata ( Sangameshwara) temple brother of Rama and I do not know of any other Bharata temple in India. It is also a part of the Nalambalam set of four Hindu temples in Kerala, the most famous being Thriprayar Sree Rama Temple, Koodalmanikyam Bharatha Temple, Moozhikkulam Lakshmana Temple, and Payyammal Shathrughna Temple located in Thrissur . Mural paintings are beautiful in entrance in on way to temple . Theerthakulam , thekkekulam , kuttankulam and Thamarakulam are near by . Must visit temple in Kerala to feel Peace .

The Thachudaya Kaimal as "Manikkam Keralar" is the spiritual chief and the temporal ruler of the Koodalmanikyam Temple and its estates. The line goes back to antiquity and is mentioned in the sacred Skanda Purana. The temporal rights over the temple, that is the office of the kaimal (as opposed to "Manikkam Keralar") and the office of "melkoyma". Credit : Wikipedia !

This temple is a very calm and peaceful place. The 10-day long festival is the biggest festival of the temple. Koodalmanikyam Temple is the only ancient temple in India dedicated to the worship of Bharata, the second brother of Rama, however the idol is that of god Vishnu. "Sangameshwara" is another name associated with the deity at Koodalmanikyam. The earliest historical reference to Koodalmanikyam Temple is found in a stone inscription attributed to the Chera king Stanu Ravi Varman dated 854 A.D, donating vast extents of land for the Temple. The temple is spread across 10 acres of land with beautiful gateways on the East, South and West...

This Bharathan Temple is a 10 acre marvel in architectural beauty (Kerala/Dravidian style) The impressive gateways, round shaped Sanctum Sactorum, the majestic Koothambalam and the Carvings in wood and stone and the murals on the walls all attract students of Art and Architecture. The Temple had also been an important centre of nourishment of the Temple Arts. It is noted that significant amount is still required for urgent restoration. Offering a garland made out of lotus flower is considered important. Dress code for men is still strict.

A Temple for Bharatha, brother of Lord Rama ! A Lotus Garland Offering to Lord Sangameswara will save your function from rain. This is the belief of devotees of Koodalmanikyam Temple near Thrissur. Sangameswara is the Lord of confluence of Karumali river and Chalakkudy river. Chathurbahu Vishu is the only Lord of this large temple. Of course there is the invisible presence of Hanuman in the Thidappally ( kitchen). Bharatha brother of Rama is the Lord of the temple is the popular belief of the devotees. This is one among the four temples to be worshipped on the same day , the others being Thripparayar, Muzhikkulam and Payammal for Rama, Lakshmana and Satrugna . Ramayana Month ( Karkidakam ) is this four temples pilgrimage month. There are four tanks around the temple including the divine Kulipini Theertham. Annual festival of the temple is the last one every year during April , beginning on the next day after the end of Thrissur Pooram.
