Parambikulam Tiger Reserve, also a wildlife sanctuary nestles between the Anamalai hills and the Nelliampathy hills is situated in Chittur taluk of Palakkad district and is about 100 km away from Palakkad. Parambikkulam can boast of the first scientifically managed teak plantations of the world and also houses the world's tallest and oldest teak tree.. 😊🏘️🌴

Must visit place for forest lovers,if you are lucky can see few animals. Recommend at least 1 night stay and try one of the trekking program they have. Largest Teak wood is worth to visit.

A place which will give an excellent jungle experience. The road which leads to this area itself looks beautiful. Those who love hill station will definitely enjoy this place. One of the best place to visit. There is a safari in that they allow 30 people at a time and they instruct us while animals or birds crosses. So the safari is well organised. It costs 300/person which is cost effective. Enjoyed a lot during the journey.

Parambikulam Tiger Reserve, which also includes the erstwhile Parambikulam Wildlife Sanctuary, is a 391 square kilometres (151.0 sq mi) protected area in Kollengode Block, Chittur taluk in Palakkad district of Kerala, India. The wildlife sanctuary was established in 1973 in the Sungam range of hills between the Anaimalai Hills and Nelliampathy Hills. The sanctuary is the home of four different tribes of indigenous peoples including the Kadar, Malasar, Muduvar and Mala Malasar settled in six colonies. People from tribal colonies inside the reserve are engaged as guides for treks and safaris, and are provided employment through various eco-tourism initiatives. The sanctuary has a rich diversity of animal life including: Mammals 39 species, Amphibians 16 sp., Birds 268 sp., Reptiles 61 sp., Fish 47 sp., Insects 1049 sp. and Butterflies 221 sp.

It’s a three hour drive from Coimbatore, Tamil. It’s better to leave early morning. We went in the month of February. So it was pretty hot in the afternoon. It’s a beautiful peaceful place to relax and drive. The bamboo forrest is something we experienced for the first time which was great. We were contemplating about the safari but it was totally worth it. We saw a deer , Antler, Bison, wild pigs , 3-4 peacocks , lagoons , baby elephants. It was a different experience to spot animals in their natural habitat that the usual zoos. It is great place to visit.

Very interesting place. Safari charges are Rs 400 per person. I would recommend trekking. My recommended trek would be Bear Path Trekking. Rs 380 per person. Minimum 5 person to do any activity here. If you are alone just pay 1900 and go for it. Pug mark Trekking is highly recommended in summer when water levels are low. Day in Parambikulam is good for people in group and have a day to spend. Ticket counter and entry counter are different. After paying entry fees of Rs 30 and Rs 85 for vechile immediately go to the ticket counter to get safari and Trekking tickets.

Visited Parambikulam Tiger Reserve, It is an absolute gem for nature lovers! The lush greenery, diverse wildlife, and serene lakes create a perfect getaway. The guided safari was an amazing experience, providing a glimpse into the rich biodiversity. Kudos to the conservation efforts here. A must-visit for anyone seeking a peaceful retreat amidst nature. There is a chance to see tiger and elephants but not all the times, very rarely have a chance to see. You can skip the route to see a big tree, because the route is not good and takes too much time nearly 2 hrs for 12 km.

If you wanna short but relaxing trip..then Parambikulam tiger reserve is your go to place...the serenity, beauty untouched by commercialization and the simplicity of it all...the jungle safari in the evening, bamboo rafting and finally the trekking was just breath taking.. we saw many animals in our Safari but the best moment of them all was the Wild Elephant sighting.. While our trip back at around 7:00 pm it was very dark already and we spotted 2 female and 2 baby elephants..we were clicking pics when we saw a little up ahead a few more elephants were walking beside the road and a few were on the road..now we started getting a bit scared but our guide and incharge Mr. Thambi was not shaken even a little bit...We tried to move the safari bus ahead but the elephants started making noise and expressing their protest for disturbing them..we slowly reversed the vehicle and stopped ..again after a few minutes we tried to move ahead .then they started running and again after moving to one side stood their ground and stared ominously at us...we quickly moved away from there . despite being a scary moment..it was very thrilling and unexpected..We will be back soon to enjoy more such moments here..

An amazing tiger reserve national park which situated in Palakkad. The way to this national park is some thing special like we need to enter Tamil Nadu and come back to Kerala to visit it. The stay at there was good and also the guide who guided me and my family was an exelend guy. Have a nice journey.

Best place to enjoy nature, but in day time there were not so many wild animals to see, deers & peacocks are more. The best time to visit here is early morning, 1st Top slip then Prambikulam. Entry ticket is ₹400/head in Parambikulam. 5 visiting points are totally covered which includes 2 dams, Old tree & a view point, not much worth, but a nice place to visit with family. Advantages are more for people who all are staying in Anaimalai.

Amazing experience. Went trekking through the forest. You can actually witness the wild with all its glory here. The rooms are a bit expensive, but the price is fine compared to the joy you will have here. There are tree house to stay, quarters, dormitories. You can always watch wild boars, deers, monkeys, peacocks and other animals roaming around the place. They may actually come close to you without any hesitation. At night, there's high chance that you come close to a Tiger. The place is kept very clean an tidy. Follows strict protocols during entry and accomodation. Extremely happy with the services. if you are here at the right time of the season, you may also be lucky enough to watch the native dance of the tribes who live here. A must visit place.

We had very good experience in Parambikulam forest. We tried booking for a Trek in the site but unfortunately it was not processed. So we went there for the normal safari and before getting the safari ticket we asked the police if we can do the Pug- mark trail . He said let's wait for sometime and we can go for the trek if any guides are available. After waiting for 30 mins , couple of guides arrived and they took us for the trek. It was nearly 20 kms and we started around 11 am and we covered it in 4 hours. We were able to see some small wild animals like deer, monkeys but not any tigers or leopard. Later next day we stayed in the forest and luckily we spotted the big cat. I would say the stay , food , facilities are amazing. the best time to see animals are in the morning or evening, so i would suggest you to stay there for a day or 2 if you want to spot any animals.

An optional trip which is not highly recommended. A very long way to drive and really a boring journey to reach at the destination and need to pay for the vehicle at both check posts by different states to see almost nothing. The safari was good as we could experience the wild life and see some wild animals. Any how it was just wasting a whole day to see nothing.

Have visited Parambikulam Tiger Reserve several times. It is a protected area located in the Anaimalai Hills of Western ghats in Kerala state. You can visit this Reserve area from Pollachi town in Tamil nadu state. It is at about 60 km from Pollachi. We can spot animals such as Elephant, Tiger, Panther, Deer, Wild Dog, Nilgiri Tahr, etc being a thick forest. Parambikulam, Thunakadavu and Peruvaripallam dams are there. Near by attraction, one would pass through is Topslip ie, one has to travel Pollachi-Topslip-Parambikulam. Totally 2-3 days may be required to cover the attractions here. The travel along the forest route itself will be amazing.

You can reach this place from Pollachi, Anapaadi Check Post, Kerala Check Post, after Top Slip, you can reach Parambikulam. Still you can find the deep forest without the damages of modernization. Still you can feel the beauty of the forest, Animals, etc., We have seen group of Sambar Deers, Mom and baby Spotted Deer, Group of Bisons, Group of Elephants crossing the water, A single elephant on the road 50 meters ahead of our car. But all the jungle safari we had a Government allotted Guide to travel with us to guide us. Great experience, thrill, happy, enjoying moments. We have stayed in Honey Comb treated as a 3 star hotel service...

I was here with my friends.we had a wonderful time at the tiger reserve. We reached there in the afternoon and there are tough check points. Liquor is prohibited at the reserve. The way the locals have been developed to safe guard the forest is worth congratulating. A forest guard accompanies the visitors. Since they are locals, they love the reserve and consider it as their own . You try to bribe them, they won’t accept. The forest or forest products can’t be taken from there. There are souvenir shops from where you can buy things. The reserve has cottages for stay. It’s an amazing experience to stay at the reserve. You get to see a lot of wild animals . It’s an amazing experience.

Best place to explore wildlife. Climate is amazing. It's 2 kms from Topslip safari ride office. No shops are available in this area. Cafeteria is located only in the checkpost. Rates at checkpost: Car - 50/- Per head - 30/- Camera charges applicable. For Safari rides only Safari vans are available. Ride Details: 300/- per head (No UPI allowed) Overall 30 kms ride. 3 hours time. 1. Parambikulam Dam view 2. World's largest teak tree 3. Dam backwaters 4. Anaimalai view 5. Animals spotting Chance of animals spotting is too low because 4 vans are frequently roming inside the forest areas.

Awesome jungle experience. Spotting animals is a matter of chance, however we were lucky enough to spot Bison, Crocodiles, Deers, Langur. The people were so humble and affectionate. The guide was so knowledgeable. Would book an accommodation next time for sure to explore more. Best place to visit is November, high chances of spotting tiger as it is the mating season.

Come here for a jungle experience. You can spot animals like bison, peacocks , langur, deers but spotting tiger is quite hard. The place is super commercialised, and there is entry charge, Safari charge, parking charge etc. There is a small restaurant at the top, we had meals and fish fry. There are a lot of spot points, this is a 3-4 hour journey. Wonder place!

A well recommended spot for a one day trip ✨. 400 rs per person and the guide will show you around in a bus. If you are lucky you can see many animals. We didn't see any on the way but after returning we saw many animals. It was raining a little bit so it was chill outside. They also have staying facilities. You can also go for trekking and you will have a guide. Overall the experience was amazing 😍.

Parambikulam Tiger Reserve is managed by Kerala Forest Dept but the access to Reserve is only from Tamil Nadu through Pollachi – Top Slip road. This is my second trip to the Reserve and we took again the Safari bus (400 Rs per person). The ride through broken roads takes about 3 hours with several halts including dams, view points and a visit to the 472 year old Teak (Cannimara). Unfortunately, we weren’t lucky to spot any wild animals except a few spotted deers. The facilities at the Safari booking office is not all that great as one could expect from such state government setup. Lacks basic infrastructure , neat toilets, and a good restaurant. The Cellular coverage is very poor and there are no EV charging stations in 80km radius.

Good place for visit with family and friends....Recommended during winter (Nov to Jan). Don't go those who are not interested to enjoy the beauty of nature.......... best to reach here early morning, otherwise you may get tired after the 3 hours jungle safari...... And don’t expect you can see all the animals it depends on your luck...... but in Winter season probability of seeing tigers and leopards are higher than the other months...,,,, you can also stay here by booking through online....... Last important point: currently BSNL have towers at this forest..., no other service.

We face issue in staying at honey comb. There is power shortage during 12am to 4am.so Ac and Fan not worked at that time. I claimed room boy to solve that issue@2am. They replied sorry no we cant resolve it during night time but they hide generator facility. After half hour they put generator without knowing everyone. But i noted and asked why u hide generator facillity @2am, my kids 2yrs old and 8yrs old were swetted and got swetcold and cough..me and wife both were got headace on that time. We are tourists of your place. We paid 7000 for this room. Diesel rate will come atleast 500 to 1000. Then why you people do like this to save diesel cost for generator on that time.. Other than there are totally 4-5 family on that time. All are very sleepless and unhappy of your room because of Room boy unactivate on that time of power cut. Me and my family were very upset on that time. Eventhough we are very upset we need not complaint them to their superior officers due to their family situation of room boy. This is not complaint.. Take is as feedback and advice them.. Our guide guided as very polite and humble.. Thanks to palaniyammal. Thank you..

It gives us an extraordinary experience with nature and some wild animals. They charged 400rs for each person for jungle safari. They carry us for some places (thunakadavu dam, parambikulam dams, kannimara peak, vanashree cafe for food time and some animals). If we are lucky,we saw some wild animal. Otherwise it might be a boring session. They also Provide some packages like top tree hut, island stay, etc but we need to register via their website.before we visit there.

Nice place to visit for those who like being close to nature. Trekking facilities are provided by the parambikulam Tiger Reserve. Here you can enjoy the dense forest, teak plantations and see various kinds of wildlife. One can even stay at the tree houses. It's better to get an idea regarding the place and facilities from the concerned, prior travelling with a plan to stay overnight.

The most flourished and nourished forest reserve in South India. The place is well maintained and is free of litter and garbage. They have a restaurant in the entrance beyond which you won't have anything to buy except near the information centre inside the forest there is a small restaurant. Amazing place to trek and go on in a safari. We have spent almost a day there but all we could see was peacocks, Boars and Deers. Worth a visit. Very peaceful place and the air is so pure you can feel it passing through your body.

A good introduction to trekking. This trek is comfortable and of good distance. This is not the pug-mark trail. Had gone a day trek to Parambikulam on the 15th of May '22. We opted for the pug mark trail. That trail is now closed for public. So we did a 12km walk after crossing the lake. Giving 4 stars since the our original choice was closed and we were not informed in advance. However, It was a wonderful experience just walking through the beautiful forest. Our guides Murugesan and Selvam did a nice job of keeping an eye out for us. They pointed out to birds and generally shared some stories from the forest. Murugesan also took an alternative route to help us finish the trek faster as one of the participants was having a terrible shoe bite. A big thanks goes out to Murugesan and Selvam. We saw some birds and malabar squirrel. Even saw a leopard pug mark on the trail. If you want to just walk for hours through forests enjoying the sounds of nature, this is a good trek to go to. There are no steep climbs or drops. Very comfortable pace. An interesting prehistoric forest temple in ruins, to see. Was sad to see some plastic litter on the roads and also a little bit (small chocolate wrappers) in the forest. Let us please avoid this dirtiest of all habits. Have a wonderful trek.

Its a beautiful place. Worth a visit. Canteen food is okay, not bad. Not much pricey. We decided to go Pug mark trail for hiking. 720 INR per head. Just 8 kms plantation walk of 3 hours. Not at all worth. Please dont waste money for this trail. Several stay options are available but costly for a normal Indian tourist.

We stayed in Parambikulam tented niche and sharing my experience Checkout/checkin - 12 am checkin and 10.30 am checkout. They charge around 7k for 2 person and rooms are good. As it's name says , It's tented one with ample bathroom space. It's entirely taken care by forest department and no private Food will be provided, both veg and non veg available. Forest department employed local tribal peoples for all arrangements. If you have luck you can see leopard. You can see deer , sambar deer , peacock and nilgiri langur etc as normal. They will take you around the forest in vehicle from 3.30 PM to 7.30 which includes Bamboo rafting in Parambikulam dam water , where you can see crocodile if you have luck. Morning you will taken to bird watching. Overall good place to say.

Prambikulam Tiger Reserve is a nature park in Kerala and home to a variety of wildlife, including tigers, elephants, deer, peacocks, etc. It is adjacent to the Topslip of Anamali Tiger Reserve of Tamil Nadu. This place is only accessible through Pollachi. PTR offers a range of activities and experiences for nature lovers, such as safari, trekking, bamboo rafting, tribal dance, and various tented stays. If we are lucky, we will be able to spot wild animals during our stays and safaris. However, all the facilities will be crowded during holidays. In total, PTR seems to be a popular and attractive destination for wildlife enthusiasts and photographers. During and after rain, this place will be too good to visit. Bookings have to be done one month prior will be good.

Parambikulam is one of the premier Tiger Reserves of India and is endowed by nature in terms of species, habitat and ecosystem diversity, characterized by functional human-ecological affinities. Parambikulam is a well-protected part of the Nelliampathy - Anamalai sub unit of the Western Ghats and is buffered by ecologically similar forests of other Forest Divisions and Protected Areas of Kerala and Tamil Nadu. Parambikulam has one of the highest densities of Gaur population in Southern India. The main attraction of parambikulam is you can use your own vehicles with a guide for jungle safari sight seeing and reach all the famous destinations like kannimara teak, bamboo rafting, Dam view etc, only if you have an booked accommodation through their online website.

Wonderful experience. One day stay, Animal safari, Bamboo rafting and the morning walk ie trekking in to the no mans land into the forest area everything was to perfection. Most importantly the staff/ guide and the food there were rexceptionally good. Visit during pre winter should be ultimate.

I went to Parambikulum Tiger Reserve during my recent visit to Kerala. One should keep in mind that permit is required to cross the state border from Kerala to Tamil Nadu. As I reached the reserve around 9’O clock, I wasn’t able to see tigers or elephants but other animals/ birds like black langoors, peacock etc. As per interactions with local people here, the best time to visit the place is either early morning or after 4 pm. The forest is pristine. You can also find 2 shops where they sell items of red sandalwood, forest produces like honey, wild turmeric powder, aloe Vera gel, black pepper, cardamom etc. but keep cash handy, as there is no network there and cards might now work!

Beautiful location... those who have booked your stay try to reach there on time... it takes 2hrs from the tamilnadu checkpost... There will be a forest guard accompanying us for the whole time, so consider a seat for him. the location of the boat ride is mesmerising.. Have a happy stay.

Excellent nature driven experience with literally no network coverage. Only Bsnl network has coverage here. Stayed in tented niche. Have to book it through the govt website priory else you won't get accomodation. Went for jungle safari, bamboo rafting and morning bird watch trekking. Was lucky to spot a leapord during jungle safari. Common sighting of deers, Gaur and peacock were plesant experience. Food served had both veg and non veg with limited menu. We had veg and it was simple and stomach friendly. The guides were very friendly and explained about the places well. Recommended for a relaxeing visit along with your family

This Tiger Reserve brings on a very wonderful experience with its beautifying view. They provide an amazing jungle safari ind their own vehicle at an rate of 300₹ that can let you see the animals roam around while you travel and you can get to experience an wonderful view in the country boat which is very much pleasing to eyes and heart. They can also provide stays for school and college students for which official procedures have to be followed. A real wonderful place to get aesthetic pleasure and adventure at the same time with friends and family.

The Parambikulam Tiger Reserve in Kerala's Palakkad district is a virtually paradise of amazing sights. Parambikulam dam and the surrounding forest and wildlife will never cease to mesmerise tourists. The 643.66 sq km region around the dam is home to rare flora and fauna. Though located in Kerala, this tiger reserve can be accessed only through Tamil Nadu. The tourists can reach Parambikulam, situated at Muthalamada Panchayat in Palakkad, via Sethumadai in Tamil Nadu.

Extremely happy with the services, if you are here at the right time of the season, you may also be lucky enough to watch the native dance of the tribes who live here. A must visit place.

One of the wonderful pieces of nature.. The kingdom ruled by our fore father "Paari" known for his generousness and effective rule.. It's a short ride from Pollachi on the way to Valpaarai, you may need to take a right guided by google maps :) or local people.. Again it's a short hilly ride of lesser hairpin bends.. along the ride you can witness lot of wild animals if you are lucky.. also it's instructed not to use horn as well as it's advisable for a slow and steady rise as the road is bit damaged at few places.. Finally, Enjoy responsibly & Save Nature !

Stayed in tented niche for 1 night- PTR Kerala Givt Pro's - 1.Excellent response from government dept ; they responded on time and answered the call for number given in site booking was confirmed immediately after payment with out follow up 2. There was a follow up call on the day of check in asking for meal option 3. The quality of food provided was really great for being in middle of forest 4.The quality of room was good , restroom was so neat clean and well maintained 5. The guide and guard where very hospitable and friendly An amazing place to be with family away from all the chaos Cons 1. Their web site is corrupted I trust cos when I try to book online there are multiple pop ups and system was throwing malicious alert 2. Price point can be reconsidered as felt it was really pricey-7400 for a family of 4 however they way they maintain will incur cost this is only an opinion Note would be happy if TN also can provide services similarly as our 1st option was ATR

It is near top slip in pollachi. At the entrance reception you have to buy tickets for the safari in the buses by the forest department. Good trip. Parambikulam is one of the premier Tiger Reserves of India and is endowed by nature in terms of species, habitat and ecosystem diversity, characterized by functional human-ecological affinities. It stood 7th in the country in terms of Management Effectiveness in the 2018 Assessment (among 50 Tiger Reserves in the country). The area was declared a Tiger Reserve during 2010 at a total extent of 643.66 sq km, out of which an extent of 390.89 km2 has been declared as the core or critical tiger habitat and 252.77 km2 as the buffer zone of the Tiger Reserve. Parambikulam is a well-protected part of the Nelliampathy - Anamalai sub unit of the Western Ghats and is buffered by ecologically similar forests of other Forest Divisions and Protected Areas of Kerala and Tamil Nadu. The Reserve supports diverse habitat types viz., evergreen forests, moist and dry deciduous forests and grasslands. Other unique habitats like montane grasslands and marshy grasslands (locally known as ‘vayals’) are extensively found. Considerable extent of man-made teak plantations and the deep freshwater ecosystem (Reservoirs) created by the construction of three dams during the 60s add to the diversity. The Reserve supports healthy population of several endangered fauna and the presence of tigers and other co-predators in the landscape emphasizes the ecological importance of this region. Most of the herbivore species of the Western Ghats such as the Asian elephant, Gaur, Spotted deer, Sambar and Barking deer (Muntjac) are found here. Parambikulam has one of the highest densities of Gaur population in Southern India. The only South Indian wild goat, the Nilgiri Tahr is also found on the high-altitude rocky hills and grasslands in the Tiger Reserve. Healthy populations of about 250 to 300 Lion-tailed macaques among other primates are found here. Rodents like Malabar giant squirrel and Flying squirrel are among the important arboreal animals. Significant population of resident and migratory avifauna of about 273 species makes the Reserve a bird watcher’s paradise. Among the aquatic fauna, crocodiles, otters, freshwater fish, especially Mahseer (an endemic game fish) are worth mentioning. The Reserve is also home to several rare small animals like Tarantula (large bodied spiders). The floral diversity of the Reserve is extraordinary for lack of a better word. As per a recent report of Kerala Forest Research Institute, the Tiger Reserve supports an estimated 1400 species of Angiosperms. So far 1,320 species of flowering plants belonging to 680 genera and 133 families have been identified including about 70 species of orchids. The inventory continues to expand every year. This magnitude of floral richness is due to the mosaic pattern of vegetation in the Reserve. Kariyanshola, which is a part of Sungam Range of the Tiger Reserve has been recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its immeasurable ecological value to the world.

3 stars because of not so good organizing of seats. Small leg room Swaraj Mazda vans are not comfortable for 30 people ride. No proper animal spotting coverage from guides and drivers. Their duty is to pickup and drop and with full attitude when u talk in Tamil with them. We had no luck to spot animal on our day of visit.

"A day in Parambikulam" We booked for a day in Parambikulam program(970/head) and we were given permission for Safari in our own vehicle and bamboo raft only. Trekking and lunch were excluded as expected count did not reach(only disappointment in the trip). We were accompanied by a forest ranger and we were lucky enough to spot Elephant, Crocodile and Sambar deer. Wild boar, deer and nilgiri monkeys can be seen all over the place. Overall a nice experience. Would recommend to plan your visit for evening Safari(preferably after April month as Feb and Mar are usually dry) to spot more animals including Tiger, leopard and Bison. Also if you are planning for a day program ensure a group of 10 is available to utilise the full package.
