It's
a
famous
Lotus
cultivation
farm
in
Thirunavaya
Panchayat.
It's
a
wonderful
view
in
the
season
to
see
the
Lotuses.
The
lake
and
it's
surroundings
are
very
calm
and
scenic.
Many
people
come
here
for
Photoshoots
and
to
spend
evenings.
Lilies
are
taken
from
Thirunavaya
to
most
of
the
temples
in
Kerala
such
as
Navamukunda
Temple
in
Thirunavaya,
Guruvayoor
Sri
Krishna
Temple
and
Kodungallur
Devi
Temple.
Thus,
the
lotus
flower
required
for
the
poojas
in
the
Hindu
temples
is
cultivated
in
Thirunavaya
panchayath
and
most
of
the
farmers
belong
to
the
Muslim
community.
So
this
Lotus
cultivation
is
a
symbol
of
communal
harmony
in
Malappuram
district.
In
2020
Government
of
Kerala
declared
Thirunavaya
as
"Pushpa
Gramam"
to
promote
Lotus
and
other
flower
farming.
Farmers
are
now
supported
by
Malappuram
Krishi
Vigyan
Kendra
and
Re
Echo
environmental
organization.
