Cherai beach is located approximately 40mins drive from Kochi city. This place is known for its clean and pristine beach. The place is well maintained with walkways and other public utilities and amenities. The best time to come here is during morning and evening hours. Though the place is less crowded during the day time, the evening sunset here is a crowd puller. One can also indulge in watersport activities like speed boat ride, banana ride, catamaran ride, jet ski, etc. For accomodation also there are many good resorts just next to the beach. These resorts are an excellent place to relax and unwind near the sea settings.

Peaceful beach with limited crowd

Had gone for a weekend visit, even though it was 2.30 in the afternoon there was huge crowds enjoying in the beach. It was clean and maintained well inspite of the said crowds. A good place overall for a quick family getaway.

This is a good place near Kochi Airport (25kms). Best part is you get both sea view and backwater views from most resorts/hotels. But Is beach ke paani me jhaag he, not the best beach water.

Nice place to visit with friends. Can sit and chit chat with friends. Life guards will be available. We visited in morning hours and it was less crowded.

Visited Pokkali rice fields near Cherai beach today along with my wife Dr Rose Mary Francies Professor Plant Breeding and Genetics, Keral Agricultural University, Thrissur, to study the feasibility for developing Carbon credits in this biodiversity hotspot. Anish, Sunil, Sandya Shaibi and their friends cultivating leased submerged area here is an excellent model for conserving biodiversity. Kudos to their efforts. We have collected some data and I’m hopeful to assess the feasibility and to recommend a sustainable model for the overall development of this area.

Cherai Beach is a very good beautiful one where there is a protective safe sea wall between the actual waterline and the roadside area where people gather in large number. This sea wall is provided with wheel chair access so that the people who are differently abled can also move upto the waterline.The visitors can comfortably sit down on the sea wall area and enjoy the cool breeze during the evening time.Many restaurants and hotels are located in the Beach area and the visitors can comfortably opt to stay in these places if they desire to do so.
