Good place to relax with family. You can organise a picnic here too. Besides the zoo trip you can enjoy a natural retreat here as the place is a beautiful getaway from the hustle of the city. It is a perfect place for schools to bring their students for self awareness about the different types of animals available in the zoo. The recent addition of Nature's Trail has swept my mind away. The department has introduced an innovative way to spend some time with nature. The trail leads you to a beautiful place, perfectly peaceful and breathtaking. The bamboo bridge over the trail gives you a local experience. I have visited Nature's Trail for three times now. I have introduced it to new people and everyone has loved this experience. If you visit the zoo don't forget to visit the Nature's Trail. And please don't litter the place as you go to explore there. Save the place from litter. Be responsible.

Perhaps the best view of a tiger I've got at a zoo in India...and that too in a more natural setup...also the tiger was healthier than most I've seen....the Gibbon is a total show stealer ...the hornbills are an incredible sight too....the bear family is super cute...and there's a lot more of animals n birds.... absolutely must visit!

Awesome reserve it is. More or less all animals are there. From Bengal tiger to Bengal leopard cat. You have to be lucky though to see them as their closure is not small and they roam around. Good spot for friends, family and couple.

Worth taking the long walk to see the smile and excitement in children. A good place to take kids out to see and learn about wildlife. Not a wide range of animals to see but still there are varied wild animals and birds. Not the best zoo but it’s great!

There has been a drastic change since my last visit. The maintenance team has been doing a good job but the only drawback is the public littering all around the park. This is a request to anyone visiting the park to carry your own trash and kindly use trash bin. Overall, the experience has been better. The nature trail has been the best so far. Kudos to the team

Drinking water and toilets available inside the zoo. It will take 40min to reach from station due to bad road condition. Food stalls available at the zoo. Ticket cost ₹20 and 2 wheeler parking ₹10

A very good place for education of children who watches animals in cartoon form either in TV or mobile or else in animal planet. So bring your children teach them with real animals.

We frequently visit the zoo with the kids..a very nice place for family to hang out.The animals are well taken care of..The only thing I suggest is that there should be a restaurant or some kind of eatery for the public to sit down and enjoy the beautiful place.

Well, it was a sudden visit, but overall, good time. The place is well maintained and clean, the animals all look healthy and taken care of, the paths are also decent and ther are dustbins around- which is a big plus. I've heard of animals escaping but no matter, If you're around, check it out. See what animals Naga nature has to offer. ;)

The entry fee was cheap and it should be cause there is literally only 15 or 16 species inside and you can't even see some of them. The place is filled with plastics and the animals there all look like they haven't been fed for days.Try to keep pairs of every animals.

The main purpose of the park is not kept but mainly like a joke to the surviving animals. Animals that are endangered deserve a nice setting for them to breed and multiply but honestly, the park is not well maintained. It feels like a cage for animals without proper care, some animals don't even have a pair, how will they survive in a small, damaged shelter with no company of its same species? Animals do feel and need company to survive . Please work on the well-being of the animals to save and sustain the ecosystem not for business and spectators. The visit to the park broke my heart seeing the condition of the animals and the place they are in. The spectators were showing animal behavior, I witnessed 2-3 people poking with a stick to reveal the face of Slow Loris, while the animal made distressed sounds as the humans were poking continuously. Honestly, this clearly shows how lacking the entire system is. If the owners of the park really care for the animals, they will build proper shelters and proper rules to adhere to for the public. Everything seemed out of hand and very disheartening to watch the animals in such a poor state. Please please conserve the wildlife and save the endangered animals, but don't keep animals that are not threatened and is among the 'least concern' category. Let them be in the wild and nature not as show piece .

The park is fairly large and has a lot of potential. However, it is clearly not well managed and looks in bad shape. One just hopes that the animals' basic needs are being met. Staff are practically absent. Visitors are on their own. Canteen/restaurant was closed and didn't look functional. Visitors are not monitored, they appear to be feeding animals and throwing waste all over the park. Rather unacceptable since most zoos have very strictly implemented animal feeding restrictions. Also there is a small selection of animals. Not all cages are labeleed properly. Overall, rather disappointing, but will be good for children and families for a day out, as long as one brings along their own food and water.

I visited this place for the first time and it was much better than what I have expected it to be. The paths are paved which made the walking experience good. The animals and birds aren't as much as I thought there would be, but for the first time, I saw wild dogs and wolves. I did not take any pictures because I don't really like the idea of taking pictures of animals in captivity. The best part of this park is the Nature Trail which I hope they'd upgrade it a little bit more. To be walking through nature is refreshing and rejuvenating. So, for all those who loves walking can take this route and breathe in the Jungle air.

The zoological park is almost like a forest area, trees have been preserved. There is a herbal garden as well. Animals are a bit less, but they have a tiger, hornbills, leopard and others. The zoo is about 10-11kms from Dimapur.

We need some mega star animals so that the public are excited to visit our state zoo. At present, it's just the tiger ( special appearances only ) and the python ( Glass cage please ) that gives the chills. Not an expert on animals and the climatic habitat but an addition like crocodile/hippo / rhyno would be a awe for the visitors.

    - Food counter mentioned are closed - I haven't found drinking water facilities. Not even shop just outside main gate didn't have water bottle. One family was starving to drink water. - Require more signboard inside. There is one full colourful, new, full wide size rout map nearby ticket counter, but during inside visit I missed road accordingly. The top left road, get me somewhere deep inside, and lost way. There should proper sign board, arrow marks or instruction.

Few years ago animals were healthy but nowadays animals are very weak. The zoo management should take proper care of animals as I have seen some of the animals were malnourished. Apart from this it is a great place to visit with friends and family.

The current condition of this zoo is extremely disheartening, with numerous issues that need immediate attention. Maintenance tasks have been neglected entirely, resulting in a state of disarray. Even basic tasks such as cleaning and ensuring the animals are properly caged have been overlooked, leading to a truly deplorable situation. It is an utterly pathetic state of affairs. However, amidst this bleak scenario, there is a glimmer of hope. This zoo possesses remarkable potential to become one of the finest establishments of its kind, provided it is developed with utmost care and efficiency. By rectifying the current deficiencies and implementing a comprehensive plan for improvement, this zoo can undergo a remarkable transformation. First and foremost, a dedicated effort must be made to address the maintenance issues plaguing the zoo. Regular cleaning schedules should be established, ensuring that the premises are kept clean and hygienic. Additionally, the enclosures and cages must be inspected and upgraded as necessary to provide the animals with a safe and comfortable environment. Moreover, an efficient management system should be put in place to oversee all operations within the zoo. This includes hiring knowledgeable and compassionate staff members who possess a genuine love for animals and are dedicated to their welfare. Training programs can be implemented to educate the staff on proper animal care, including feeding, medical treatment, and behavioral enrichment. Furthermore, the zoo should focus on conservation efforts and prioritize the well-being of the animals. By collaborating with reputable wildlife organizations and experts, the zoo can actively participate in species preservation, research, and education. With a comprehensive redevelopment plan, a committed team, and a focus on animal welfare, this zoo has the potential to transform into a model establishment, showcasing the wonders of the animal kingdom and fostering a deep appreciation for wildlife among its visitors...

It's a nice place to visit for a long walk. Not many animals, a very shy tiger and some decent birds, reptiles and small animals you can find everywhere in NE(like foxes, monkeys etc). The new addition of crocodiles is a cool scene, it would have been nice if they were given a more spacious room.

    (Translated by Google) Across the horizon bordering the northern part of Nagaland, along the southeastern hills, through the deep forests of Assam, breaking the cool breeze of Meghalaya, I ascended to the kingdom of the enchanting Seven Sisters. I rode my evergreen mountain bike, thousands of miles of unearthly paths-ghats-valleys. I saw how many different kinds of people, I heard how many different languages I heard, how many hours I was lying with my arms and legs spread, under the bright blue sky .... My attraction to the earth and nature is irresistible. This is the infallible pull of destiny, the one that once intoxicated Ferdinand Magellan, Francis Drake, Marco Polo or the fantasy Robinson Crusoe, Alan Quartermain! I love my motherland so much, so I don't want to do any harm to her in exchange for all my life's sorrows. Although I know that my society, the modern mankind of the twenty-first century has not done what it has done and continues to do! No matter how much they are leaving to save the world, and how ridiculous is their contradictory lifestyle! So my commute, going to university, going out in the afternoon, going to the market, going home on Eid, getting lost somewhere far away, above all the vehicle I have chosen for me, never burns fossil fuels, because my body fat is enough for it. My car does not add trillions upon trillions of unwanted sound waves to the atmosphere, just a little bit more frequent, because it does not need a horn! My vehicle does not cause traffic jams, because it takes up 1 meter of space on the streets of Dhaka with me. A bicycle with a speed of 10 miles per hour is my vehicle. I love that vehicle very much. At the signal of the Victory Memorial, I stood motionless in the midst of the scorching sun of May, staring at it, floating in the divine eye, seeing something together! I promised myself that if I ever burned fossil fuels, I would make the same amount of oxygen to the species! In the recent past I have run around the country with my slow moving vehicle. I can never express how many fond memories I have of the villages, villages, ghats, ports, forests, mountains and seas of Bengal. How the thoughts are lost in the direction! I used to decorate my favorite bicycle with hobbies, and I used to plan to make the border bigger! After much effort and gossip I realized the truth. I will never get back to the 24th year of my life if I wait for adequate equipment, convenient electronics, and a tidy outing with the innkeeper. Last August, I crossed the international border for the first time without a hitch, using Tamabil in Sylhet district of Bangladesh and Dauki in East Jainta Hill district of India. Very limited resources, and took the hobby tent. And there was a lot of confidence. On the first day, a Khasia girl, who was as fast as a mountain river, pushed it higher with a great push. I bought some candy from him. Priced at eight rupees! I will leave, then he leaned forward and asked like the heroines of the movie- “Who are you? Who will go? ” In reply I spoke of Nagaland. What a beautiful smile! But he didn't call me crazy. He wished very well. That's when I decided to go back and give him a little nightshade! I could not talk to my father and mother for the first three days! It didn't happen for more than six hours in my whole life. So that evening when I went to a small police checkpoint in the middle of a valley called Safai on the Meghalaya-Assam border, I told them, "I've heard a lot about Assam elephants, so I don't dare camp. Can you give me some space in your compound?" And in response they kindly arranged for me to have a nice, tidy room, and told me that everything was closed in the evening, but a woman two hundred yards south of us took her daughter, and sold her Radha food to the most obedient buyers. And I really ate rice with pulses and chicken from that mother-daughter about two days later and called Dad, and Dad shouted, “Who? Anik? ” - My heart was filled with a great peace! Peace is a feeling that brings like a sun behind the clouds, a gunpowder of excitement! Leaving the phone, I looked around and laughed as if the match stick was burning! - From Tanvir Anik's brother's wall (Original)

the zoo was nice, but the administration needs to work on keeping it clean & taking proper surveillance of the public as I have seen lots of people bullying the animals.

This park serves as a conservation area for the flora and fauna of the northeast India. The low-lying area of the park is a suitable topography for aquatic birds, and there are almost 500 bird species in the region which include Patridges, Parrotbill, Laughingthrush, Nuttatch and Fulvetta.

Quite well maintained , impressive!! But!! There are some false sign-board indication deep inside, and the toilet is just too horrible (I mean its smell) Canteen attached, quiet a lot of resting sheds.

With a heavy heart I write this to draw the attention of the people and the authorities. Despite being entitled as a safe place for animals, it is rather a tormenting place for the animals. The most important thing to be fulfilled as a zoo is to preserve the animals and provide an adequate habitat for them to inhabit but here in Nagaland Zoological park it is rather the opposite. Animals are not giving the right habitat, no proper approach towards preserving the animals, no proper facilities for the animals and many more . The list can go on but the most concerning thing is the fact that the animals are caged in such a tight place and are tormented in many forms. Rather than looking for a way to preserve the animals, it looks as if the authorities are keeping them as a showpiece. The animals deserves the right habitat with proper food. It is so disheartening to witness some animals all alone in a small cage, whimpering as the visitors disturbs them. The visitors are supposed to just watch the animals and not disturb them but here in Nagaland, the visitor becomes the animals and causes chaos. It is the responsibility of both the authorities and civilians to care for the animals. No animals deserves a tight suffocating place, no animals deserves to be alone,no animals deserves to in the wrong habitat, no animals deserves to be scared and traumatized, no animals deserves to whimper,no animals deserves to be tormented. Many animals like parrot and monkeys which we see outside are also caged. No! That is very wrong . The zoo is supposed to preserve those endangered species in order to save them . The zoo is supposed to provide a good habitat for them but here everything is all upside down. Isn't it high time for us nagas to actually work on something which would benefit the world? Isn't it high time for us to actually do something right? Isn't it high time for us to be a decent person and love the animals? The authorities needs to take steps before it's too late. Provide a good habitat for the animals and put strict rules for the civilians to follow. And work to preserve the animals and not torment them.Don't keep the animals for earning money instead take care of them for the sake of our mother earth. With high hopes, I wish to witness a change in this very place for if things are done correctly then this place can actually be a site that will save the animals. So please stop this inclement act and provide a place for the animals to grow and inhabit peacefully.
