The Shirui Kashong Peak near Ukhrul is a marvelous hill top view point located at a height of 2,835 meters above sea level. A number of rivers originate from the cracks and slopes of this peak. The exotic Shirui lily flower (Lilium mackliniae) blooms on the hilltop in the month of May - June. The flower attracts hundreds of scientists and tourists every year. Rare birds like Blyth s Tragopan and Mrs. Hume s bar-backed pheasant inhabit the hill top.

Amazingly Beautiful 😍 Great place for nature lovers🍀🌿🏵🌸. If you are looking for a peaceful and serene place yet very challenging which means you need to be adventurous to explore around its fauna and flora in the woods then this Journey is for you . Every season has its unique beauty where there are seasonal flowers like Rhododendrons, Shirui Lily, Pleione orchids, Iris,Nuisiwon(local name)Horamwon/Summer flower/Anemone Canadensis and many more .Personally i would like to recommend to take 3days to a week or more to have fun yes just Fun and nothing less. Don't worry about lodging cos one can stayed in 'Nongin' Homestay/hotel at the base of Shirui Kashong which provide a perfect spot for walking tour , jogging & photography and what not 👍🏻. “One of my main messages to tourists is that they need to protect, respect and enjoy. Protecting isn’t just about Covid, it’s about driving, environment friendly and lots of things. You can have a good time when you’re here but you have to respect local communities and the environment.” 🍀

On 10th May, 2019, we visited this place as it was in the vicinity of Loktok lake and it was some 20 minutes of drive. Sangai, the elusive deer variety found only in Manipur ! Its endangered ! There was a watch tower which was provided with a binocular and it required some kind of techniques to locate or sight this deer very well camouflaged with dry brown grasses. We saw two of them grazing through the binoculars. We were told that the boat ride in a small boat would be more thrilling! However, we could not do this as we reached this place around 4 pm.

Shirui Kashong Peak is a popular tourist attraction, lying at an altitude of 2,835 m above sea level. The peak is famous for two main reasons - most of the major rivers flowing across Ukhrul originate from the slopes and crevices of the peak. Secondly, it is the place where the famous Shirui lilies grow in this place. The flower blooms for a short period of time during the months of May and June. The Shirui lily (which has been declared as the state flower of Manipur) discovered by a British botanist F. Kingdom ward in the year 1948, grows only here thus attracting many botanists and tourist from around the world.

Heavenly place! Here green means green, fresh air means fresh air. Hardly any man-made sound. No plastic packets flying. Still not invaded by the hordes of present-day vandals (read Indian tourists). Only real nature-lovers are requested to visit this paradise.

Everything about Shirui Kashong is marvelous. There's not a season which is pale and unattractive as whole through out the year it has a reason to attract tourist. Its a must visit if you ever happen to be in Ukhrul Town.

After trekking for two and half hours and climbing steep slopes finally we reached the top peak. The view from the top was stunning. This peak is famous for the Shirui lily which is a special attraction for the tourists.

Breathtaking view from the peak. The beauty of Shirui is simply spectacular. No words can further describe the beauty of it. However, the flowers usually bloom around late April. I was there during winter unfortunately meaning no shirui lilies for me. Anyway, if you are a Manipuri you must visit the Shirui peak atleast once.
