It was a true camp experience. Double occupancy in the tent was tight on space but doable. Staff was good, polite, attentive and friendly. Breakfast dinner was really basic. Toilet, bathrooms were clean enough and hot water buckets were available. Western toilet was provisioned. Got to meet people from around the world over the bon πŸ”₯. Overall good experience.

Perfect location in terms of distance and scenic views for the festival. The team and the staff are very friendly with special mention to Rahul led by Kaushik & Rakhi. Bonfires in the night with conversations are the best.

Good place to stay. May not be the best for some, but the courtesy of the staffs makes up for any shortcomings. Free WiFi and breakfast with a.c. Should carry warm clothing specially by the restless adventurer's, who are beckoned by the call of the wild. This may not be the cheapest accommodation but a nice getaways from the dusty environment to the lush country scenery. Worth a shot if your budget allows.

Camp Hornbill offers you a stay by the lush green valleys of Kohima. The Hornbill Festival being an offering of the Traditions of the Tribes of Nagaland, Camp Hornbill offers you to liveΒ these traditions better by relishing local savories and tribal beverages of the Tribes of Nagaland. The Camp Hornbill at the vicinity of the Kigwema village just a short distance ahead of Kisama Village and 14 (fourteen) kilometers away from the town of Kohima in Nagaland. For our travellers Camp Hornbill provides an alternative option instead of staying at a Hotel/Resort at Kohima to spent more time at the Festivities of the Hornbill Festival at Kisama. Accommodation category includes tented accommodations. Hygenic and well maintained toilets accompany the tents. Bathrooms ensure a supply of Hot water served in buckets with toiletries like soap and hand wash available. Other facilities available at Camp Hornbill include mobile charging points with solar system, continental breakfast and traditional dinner with Barbecue and Bonfire.

We stayed at Camp Hornbill recently as a group of 10 people during the hornbill festival. The only pros were location (20 min walk) and clean toilet/ shower facility hence 2 stars. Unfortunately the cons outweigh the pros. Here is a sampling - some people from the group reached before the others; they were denied access to the tents despite a long and tiring journey. Tents are setup in farming sites although the land is left as-is and no attempt has been made to flatten the land. We had rocks under our tent. When we asked for extra mattresses to make it comfortable these weren’t delivered. It got cold the first night; when we asked for thick blankets which some tents had, we were given an excuse that those were reserved. Why do u need to reserve blankets?? While the food was decent; the place was understaffed and would often take an order but not complete it. Overall, a place with a lot of potential but managed poorly especially considering the cost.

Camp Hornbill is about 20 min walking distance from Kisama. The cleanliness of the camp was quite appreciable. Supporting staff were jovial and energetic. The location of the camp was impressive but the place where β›Ί were placed, has raugh surface. Blanket or sleeping bag provided by the camp requires improvement. At the temperature of 3-4* C,these r not enough. The bonfire was awesome. Overall I may give the camp 3.8 out of 5

Don't let the good location fool you. The tents are very substandard. You can actually feel the rocks under you in the tent. We were given just a thin sleeping bag to sleep in, inspite of having blankets (FYI - These blankets were only for Foreigners). So if you are Indian you would be given the most sub standard treatment. The toilets were clean but they just have 1 for men and 2 for women. Also, you have to pay Rs20 to get warm water to take shower.

We booked the Camp for 2 nights during Hornbill 2023. Due to bad whether the place was slushy and unbearably cold. The walk from the road to the camp is 150 Mts downhill on a kuchha track and slippery in rains. The approach to tent was through a paddy field which had straw all over. When we checked the tent the mattress was like a yoga mat and we were told that instead of sleeping bags use blankets. What this meant is sleep on a straw mat. When we asked about that they said we don't provide a thicker mat. The toilets are 50mts from the tent and due to rains they seemed completely out of bounds at night. The rain did'nt stop and we asked what will you do if it rains like this whole night. They said they will convert one room for luggage into a dorm. We decided to move on and find ourselves another place to stay. Despite the Agoda booking we were asked to pay a deposit of Rs 2000. And now that we decided not to stay due to bad weather we were not refunded the deposit. The original payment terms that we got from Agoda was pay on the site. In this way we feel cheated by the camp Hornbill. There's a homestay and camp called Dawn Homestay which is much better in facilities and approach and they are cheaper too.

Okay for an adventure, not for family groups. Washroom and bathroom facilities are horrible and food is okay. Only plus point - close to the hornbill festival.
