Kisama Heritage Village is the site where Hornbill festival is celebrated every year. This place opens a huge avenue for tourists visiting Nagaland to experience the rich and diverse culture of this place. The Hornbill festival is celebrated from 1st December to 10th December every year. This is an opportunity to be seized. One gets to experience every bit of the Naga culture which differs from tribe to tribe. Be it their food, music, dance, occupation, rice beer ask for anything under the sun pertaining to Nagaland, and you find out here. They also have a brilliant area for shopping traditional clothes and handicrafts. Throughout the day the arena is lit up with various performances both cultural as well as musical concerts. The agricultural department has also opened a huge section where you can buy indigenous plants, fruits and pulses. Food, music, dance, entertainment, rich history and culture; all of them together at one spot. What more can you ask for? A huge salute to Govt of Nagaland for organising this wonderful event.

The place is a ground zero for the display of the different tribes of Nagaland. And it completely transforms during the Hornbill Festival. Hornbill Festival - A 10-day-long extravaganza featuring cultural performances, a musical gala, a night carnival, and delectable food everywhere. They are doing a perfect job showcasing their rich culture and heritage. It’s a treat for the soul and must be experienced at least once. I enjoyed every bit of it right from exploring the various tribes and trying the authentic Naga dishes to the evening performances.

When here today when the hornbill festival is not going on. Not a great sight to see with used plastic cans, beer bottles, used paper plates lying all over. Here every tribe has its own hut where they showcase about their lifestyle and culture. There is a centre stage as well. Washrooms are present and I have seen many stalls there which are currently lying vacant and the place is completely abandoned now. Only few local people cooking food, playing songs on speaker and enjoying among themselves.

The Kisama Heritage Village close to the capital city of Kohima lies on the gentle slope at the base of a hill. It is famous as it is the venue of the annual Hornbill Festival held generally in December. There are numerous bamboo halls and shops for Trade Fairs constructed which draws tourists from all over during that period. As we visited in May, so could see the village stalls and shops closed. We also visited the World War II Museum located there. .

Kisama Heritage, one of the most prominent place for Nagaland is famous for the Hornbill Festival celebrated by the various Tribes of Nagas of Nagaland, Nagas of Arunachal, Nagas of Manipur. It comprises showcasing the rich culture and the ethnicity of the whole Naga tribe who are the Mongolian race. The Hornbill Festival is an annual festival celebrated from 1 to 10 of December in the Northeastern Indian state of Nagaland. The festival represents all ethnic groups of Nagaland for which it is also called the Festival of Festivals. It is not my first experience and might not be the last either. It is really astonishing and marvelous how rich and vibrant our Naga tribe is. It's so mesmerizing to see young talented people from different parts of greater Nagalim. I hope we Nagas continue to live in the same manner with peace and prosperity. Not much development has been made so far since its early days. I still find we lack so much with proper parking spaces and proper roads for the convenience of the general public. To tell the truth, goods sold in the heritage might force you to sell your kidneys. It's too expensive and I wonder if their motive is to fool the general public or reasonable enough to make things that expensive. The whole globe knows of the value of our Naga culture and all the products of Nagaland but as per my own experience, I find all the foreigners too complain about the pricing of every product. All the traditional attire and all the ornaments cost a little too much for any visitor to spend money on procuring them. This year we have many stalls and a food court. All those stalls and food court cost more than the normal price of a kidney. Seriously, I know you all prepare the best food and the best fast foods but that doesn't mean you have to charge more than the quality and quantity of the item. It's a place for everyone to come and experience the heritage whether rich or poor. Sadly, things have changed now. Heritage is more or less a place for rich people only. For poor people if you can afford the entry fee, I'm sorry that you will be compelled to fast for the whole day. People opening up stalls and all, please be more reasonable, your selfish motives stink at the whole heritage.

Nice place to visit in during the hornbill festival. You get to see all the culture and traditions of Nagaland. Vegans and vegetarians would find a bit difficult to adjust in the place but there's a lot to explore about in the place . Also if you're in Kohima or kisama don't miss out the dzokou trek .

Truly an international festival! Naga people need to curate our arts & storytelling! We are getting better every year. Need more informed, educated trained guides to facilitate the tourists within the premises, along with printed document of the event & visual display. Great job this year. Anyone wanting to know more about Nagaland must definitely visit the Festival.

This place has a cultural village houses of 17 different tribes of Nagaland. Each model houses shows their way of living, tools they use for hunting, the dolls they play with. Although this place has a lot of cultural value, it is poorly maintained. I think this place will glow only during the hornbill festival

It's unbelievable the way it's organised. The entire heritage arena comes to life for those 10 days of the Hornbill Fest. One needs to be here to believe it. Every nook and corner is prepared with more than 100% involvement. Be it the cultural displays of the tribes or the foot thumping vibes of the rock bands or so many eating places with free flowing Rice Beer and local wines to the many stalls selling the local produce to souvenirs... Everything is just too enticing.

Kisama Heritage Village is an absolute gem situated on the outskirts of Kohima, and I can't help but give it a well-deserved five-star rating. This village, with its unique blend of Kigwema, Phesama, and MA, offers a breathtaking glimpse into the rich tapestry of Naga culture. One of the most remarkable aspects is how Kisama preserves and promotes the Naga heritage. The government's initiative to construct this village as a living testament to traditional Naga villages and their way of life is commendable. The fact that it's open to the public during the Hornbill festival in December is an incredible opportunity for visitors to immerse themselves in Naga traditions. Wandering through Kisama Heritage Village feels like stepping into an open-air museum, where every corner holds a piece of Naga history and culture. It's evident that the Nagaland administration has put tremendous effort into conserving and reviving the tribal culture that has thrived in this region for countless generations. For anyone seeking a deep dive into the rich heritage of the Naga people, Kisama Heritage Village is an absolute must-visit. The experience here is nothing short of captivating, educational, and culturally enriching. Five stars simply can't do justice to this remarkable place.

It's the place for hornbill festival. Any other time of the year it's quite empty. Not many places to explore. There is a 2nd world war museum in the vicinity. Good place to move around. Many tribal morongs are there to explore.

I have visited this place during Hornbil festival 2023, everything is nice but if you are a veg food eater just keep in mind you can't find any pure veg restaurants or food, every stall has pork and beef. So if you're veg category just bring your food with u. Anyway nice place to feel the nature and you can know many tribes of Meghalaya.

The hornbill festival is hosted in kisama heritage village. You can reach by getting a cab from kohima. As part of hornbill festival they have events scheduled in morning 10am and afternoon 2pm and a musical concert at 6pm. During the events, people from each tribe showcases their traditions like dance, games etc. Apart from these, you can see houses of each tribe setup in their traditional manner and they serve the food and drinks.

A great view of kohima is possible if you happen to be there on a bright dayπŸ˜‰. What makes it special is the year long flowering beds that greets you as you make your way to the hotel. Private cabins are a must to try if you happen to be there. Also very much suitable for gatherings not exceeding 100+ at a single go. They usually serve good warm food with great service 😌. Heads off the the all round hygienic care they ensure.

The place of Nagaland Hornbill Festival βœ¨πŸŽ‰ But you can visit the Kisana heritage in off season as well. There're morungs (tribal hut) of all tribes of Nagaland. A genuine effort to increase tourism value in Nagaland and to let other people understand Naga culture and societal composition. This place houses 16 model houses from 16 different main tribes of Nagaland. The place is good, takes about an hour to visit, maybe a bit more to drive around. But the place is full of scattered liqour bottles , burnt garbage, stinking toilets. It might be maintained during the hornbill festival, but otherwise these were eye sores.
