The
entrance

one
of
the
biggest
villages
in
the
world.
Kohima
village
is
rated
as
the
second
biggest
village
in
the
world.
The
village
is
subdivided
into
four
major
sections
called
khels.
The
four
khels
are
Dapfhütsumia,
Pfuchatsumia,
Lhisemia
and
Tsütuonuomia.
The
size
of
population
and
land
area
are
what
contributes
to
its
popularity.
There
are
close
to
a
hundred
clans
in
these
four
khels.
All
the
four
khels
have
its
own
major
Naga
traditional
gates
known
as
"Kharu".
On
the
East
side
of
the
village
is
Chedema
and
Rüsoma
as
immediate
neighbouring
villages,
on
the
North
side
is
Meriema
and
Tsiesema,
West
side
is
Jotsoma
and
South
side
is
Phesama
and
Mima.
Traditional
stories
say
that
Kohima
village
was
built
within
the
proximity
of
seven
lakes
"rüzie"
and
that
was
why
the
village
became
prosperous
both
in
population
and
wealth.
The
village
holds
its
biennial
sports
at
Khuochiezie
with
the
last
one
from
January
17
to
22,
2022.
