Bheemalingeshwara temple is a very old and historical temple located in kaiwara that age more than a thousand year. Good place to visit on weekends, as it is very close to Bangalore (about 65 km away). The Pandavas of India's greatest epic Mahabharata lived here during their vanavasa. Bheema, the brother of Dharmaraja, has established a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva (Bheemalingeswara temple). Remove your shoes when visiting temples and stupas. Never miss this place when you visit kaiwara. There are many other places nearby to visit: Thatayya temple, Amara Narayanaswamy temple, Vaikunta (Gavi) by the side of the cave, and the hillock (on which Bheema is supposed to have killed the Demon Bakasura). All the are places worth visiting HUMBLE REQUEST TO THE VISITORS, DO NOT THROW THE PLASTIC, BOTTLES OR OTHER GARBAGE AND DONOT DO SOME NONSENSE. TRY TO KEEP IT CLEAN. JUST ENJOY THE BEAUTY OF THE TEMPLE.

While visiting the temples in Kolar district this is one of the rare temples you will find in the village Kaiwara. You can opt for returning to Bangalore via Devanahalli if you wish to cover this temple. Of course it is worth the rare temple to visit. You will find a couple of temples in this village and one of them is Bheemalingeshwara temple. From the main road you need to take a diversion of less than 10 km to reach this temple complex. Legend says that while the Pandavas were in exile for alms, this is the place which was referred to as Ekachakra pura. This is the  place where demon by name Bakasura was killed in the nearby cave on the hill and closed the entrance of the cave with huge boulders. You can see the footprints both Bhima and the demon also on the  hill if you treck to the hills. In order to cleanse the sun of killing a demon Bhima decided install a shivling in the downhill. That is the reason the temple is called Bheemalingeshwara temple. Other Pandavas also followed Bheema and installed a shiv linga. The five temples are located in the same premises but dedicated to each of them is earmarked distinctly. The timings and some other information furnished on the website is sometimes misleading depending on the website. The temple in fact closes by 11:30  AM and it is said that it opens only at about 4 o'clock. You can also find that there is no prasadam being served in the temple premises as claimed  on the website. It might be possible that the temple is open and the prasadam being served on festival days.

The temple complex has primarily the shrine of Sri Bhimalinshewara, that's installed by Bhima of Mahabharata fame. He was guided to make this installation after he fought and vanquished the Demonic Bakasura On the hill opposite to temple. Infact historical name of this place is Eka chakri nagara! When inside the premises, watch for a rock or boulder with white mark over the hill. This was kept to block the cave into which Bakasura was dumped. The temple has 4 more shrines of shiva lingas installed by remaining pandavas also. The kaiwara thathayyaa has repeated quoted with reverence this central Bhimalingeshwara swamy.

Set in the small town of Kaiwara in Chikballapur, the Bheemalingeswara Temple is believed to have been built by one of the Pandavas, Bheema himself. Dedicated to Lord Shiva, this temple is renowned for its mythological history and architectural details. In the age of the Mahabharat, Kaivara was known as Ekachakrapuram. This where the Pandavas are believed to have lived after their home built of lac was burned down. A wicked demon, Bakasura lived in the region and was terrorizing the locals. Bheema killed this demon while the Pandavas were living here. After killing the demon, Bheema performed penance at the site of the temple by consecrating a Shiva linga at the spot. He then constructed a temple around this linga. Kaiwara also has a close association with the poet, Narayanappa. He was also known as Kaivara Thatayya. Proficient in Telegu and Kannada, he composed a number of kirtans honoring Lord Vishnu who is believed to reside in the Amara Narayanaswami temple.

Historical temple - you should visit this temple for sure! The temple and its premises are utmost clean. Legend is that this was built by the Pandavas. Also, this is the place Bheem had slayed Bakasura. The pillars are exquisite - spend some time admiring them! Of course you cannot take pictures of inner sanctum - but that is awesome too! We sat there for a while admiring the place and soaking it all in. This place is a bit off the main road, as such easy to miss. Please put the location or ask for directions from any villager there. A must visit for sure ❤️

This place and temple is related to period in Mahabharata when Pandava's went to agnathvaas. During those times the place was called as Ekachakrapura, in today's time its called as "Kaivara". The same place where Bheema killed Bakasur. Bheema was burdned with Bramhahatya dosham and hence he did penace by establishing a shiva linga here. Later temple was built surrounding this place called Bheemalingeshwara Swamy. This temple is very quite and peaceful. There is no seperate parking place, but it can be parked in-front of the temple.

An ancient temple, has mahabharatha reference. There's a huge linga at the sanctum and it's prohibited to take photos inside. The temple premises is surrounded by sacred trees. There's no mention of why it's called bhima lingeshwara there's also arjuna lingeshwara and dharmaraya lingeshwara inside. Worth a visit for sure.

The Bheemalingeswara Temple is one of the most immaculate and beautiful temples you shall ever see. The structure of the temple is gorgeous and it truly reflects the beauty of Hinduism. It has thousands of visitors every year and is one of those places that are definitely worth visiting. The temple is located in Chikballapur district in a town called Kaivara. It is said to have been built by Bheema, which is why it is called Bheemalingeshwar and is one of the ancient shiva temple in Bangalore.

Legend says that Bheemalingeshwara Temple was built by Pandavas for Lord Shiva during their exile. It is also said that Bheema, the second Pandava killed the demon Bakasura in this place; cut his body into several pieces and dumped them in a cave and closed it with a big boulder. To wash way his sins of killing, Bheema installed a Shivalinga along with his family. This place is also called as Bakasurana Bande (Bakasura's rock. As you reach the hilltop; you would also get to see the footprints of Bheema and Bakasura, there is also a rock where Bheema meditated. One must have darshan of this ancient temple.
