👍👍 Very well maintained statue. The place is also clean and tidy. The roads here are very wide and controlled by automatic traffic signals. "Eden Garden Cricket Stadium" and "Akashvani Bhavan,"(All India Redio) Kolkata are on the right side near the Netaji statue. People often mention Netaji, statue, Chandra, freedom, Indian, India,

Subhas Chandra Bose, affectionately called as Netaji, was one of the most prominent leaders of Indian freedom struggle. Though freedom beggars like Mahatma Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru have garnered much of the credit for successful culmination of Indian freedom struggle, the contribution of freedom fighters like Subash Chandra Bose, Bhagat Singh etc is much more than them. He has been denied his rightful place in the annals of Indian history. He founded Indian National Army (Azad Hind Fauj) to overthrow British Empire from India and came to acquire legendary status among Indian masses.

The famous historian Sri Ramesh Chandra Majumdar wrote on 25th March,1978 that British Minister Mr. Atlee Saheb clearly accepted that Subash Chandra's INA established that the English would not be able to control with Indian soldiers and the British Government decided to make India free. Dr. Majumdar has written in details in his book "History of the Freedom Movement in India (volume III, page 609-610)" (source: Subash Rachnabali, first volume). Sri Subash Chandra has quoted in his writings from Sri Aurobinda,"I should like to see some of you becoming great; great not for your sake, but to make India great-- so that She may stand up with head erect among the free nations of the world." He cited that the voice of Krishna was the voice of immortal youth. His aim was," Atmano Mokharthang Jagatdhitya."

The statue is at one end of red road put up in an island garden. Overlooks Shaheed Minar on the other.
