A lovely surprise and a great place to stop, either to consume your own coffee and food or purchase from them. They also rent out skottles and gas bottle. Friendly, efficient staff. Small curio shop and super clean ablution. Tables set out under the trees. Great concept!

Stunning picnic place, love the fresh roster bread. Yummy 😋. Find everything you need at the shop. They have a small restaurant here were you will be able to get toasted sandwiches.

Go for brunch, like a pick nic. They provide you with the gas braai. You bring your eggs and bacon 🥓, I will recommend this every day.

Unfortunately, after giving Tindlovu a miss for a period of 1 year, we found the food again not up to standard. I specifically inquired if the Venison pie is well baked and not raw or soggy. The reply I received wasn't promising. Nevertheless, I ordered the Venison pie. My husband ordered a boerewors roll. No mention was made that it would be on roosterkoek. R211 for 2 meals and 2 cokes is expensive. More so, when the chips/fries were cold and over cooked. My husband's roosterkoek was hard on the outside, raw on the inside. I took one bite of the pie and closed the meal box. My after thought, I should've requested a refund and given the food back. Just another reason to make your own padkos, when in Kruger National Park for a day visit. I agree with the comments about the sewerage smell. Whilst we sat down to eat, the truck arrived to remove sewerage. A big NO, please do it after 5pm. Also, start by checking the spelling on the handwritten menu boards. A dead give away that there's really no supervision.

First time having Bobotie Mince, whew. It was really good, and the bread was fresh. The fries were, fries, nothing special, but they did have a little spice to them. Some people hate the monkeys, but I enjoyed eating and seeing them running around “politely” and swinging in the trees.

We just had a picnic with our own snacks and drinks. However, the tables and benches as well as the toilets were nice and clean and this was a delightful place to stop after a long drive through the park.

This is a popular breakfast stop. Good local food, coffee and bathrooms. Service is a bit slow, but then why rush when enjoying the atmosphere, animals and birds around you. We have been here when an elephant paid an enquiring visit. Staff are experienced at keeping guests and animals safe. Patience and respect are always required when entering the wild environment. It is their home and we are guests.

A lovely well needed rest during hot days of game viewing. Unfortunately the stench of sewage from the toilets was absolutely horrendous on the one afternoon we were there. The food was great but unfortunately no kid friendly options. I’d suggest offering chicken strips and skinny fries for kids, or even a steak strips and chips.

One of the top rest spots we saw, the staff was friendly, there was loads of cadac pans to rent with the gas bottle and they even washed our dishes. We stopped here with the caravan and made food on our way to our next rest stop. The bathrooms were clean and the shop tidy. There was a coffee bar and they made amazing coffee's.

A nice place to stop and stretch legs with well stocked shop and small café that also serves tasty food, toilet facilities and picnic area if you have your own food. Be mindful that warning signs on site are really thing not just a joke for tourists. We had hyena visitors while having our lunch.

While the area and service is good the parking is pretty atrocious for such a popular site, I think they need to organize it better. I think the idea of the picnic site is great but rules about feeding animals especially for tourists should be enforced considering how easy it is at such a site for animals to get human food

Nice open area to sit and enjoy your lunch you bought from the boskombuis. Pricing is fair and food portions reasonable. This is in the wilderness and at any time any wild animals may make their appearance at this picknick area. Toilets are fairly clean.

The place is good for resting a while during a visit to Kruger National park. You can have coffee and tea along with other quick bites. However, the monkeys try to snatch the eatables so need to be careful while eating outside. It has good separate washrooms for men and women.

Food delivery is slow, so when you're on a schedule, it's best to order first and then proceed to check out the store. Please be conscious about how you dispose of waste. There are designated trashcans every few feet. There are alot of vervet monkeys around, and this could affect their health. Restrooms are clean but not well lit, so take your phone or flashlight along.

Delicious food, and great atmosphere! It's amazing to see wild animals at the picnic site, and even more amazing to see the patrons not feeding them! I am so glad that the animals kept to their own, and not used to being fed, unlike with other national parks! The food was DELICIOUS! You really can't say that you can go make it at home! The menu is exotic and really unique with mouth watering dishes! The bathrooms were a bit dark and scary. The shops are quite expensive, so budget ahead of time. Staff are friendly and site is in pristine condition. The largest anthill in the southern hemisphere can also be witnessed at the entry. Really beautiful and a wonderful spot!

Unfortunately, there seems to be a problem with the sewerage here, as there is a terrible smell and water flowing through the site. What would be a lovely picnic spot on our drive through Kruger was not so pleasant because of this. The food and coffee looked decent, however I would not eat here until the sewerage issue is fixed. We did see a hyena in the parking lot though!!

Exceptional restaurant experience with close-up wildlife sightings. Birds, monkeys, and even a hyena! Unforgettable! (Around 1pm is when the hyena usually comes)

loved our picnic. hired gas cookers & delicious roostekoek made on site. loved it.

We took our own food, hence we can't comment on the listed items. However we can comment regarding the environment and ablution. The ablution facilities needs attention, the smell was very bad inside. No hand dry paper, neither does the blowers work. To sit outside and have your food, only a pleasure to enjoy the environment.

Great place to stop over. The atmosphere isn't bad at all. The roosterkoek is a winner and worth it when warm with butter. The prices of cool drinks are expensive at take away and price needs to be shown. The negative remains the monkeys who have perfected how to steal food. If surprised by them tourists seem traumatised. Staff do attempt to scare them off with slingshots which helps. Toilets clean.

Food is relatively fast considering it’s a busy place. I ordered mixed grill- meat too salty.

Was a great experience eating at Tindlovu. The food was very tasty and I can highly recommend their roosterkoek. The service was a bit slow, and we had to wait quite a bit, but the wait was definitely worth it. It is also an amazing atmosphere.

Blended up Plastic in my ice coffee. :( I wonder how many tiny bits I swallowed, yuck. Maybe if they were prepared fresh and not pre-made and taken out of the freezer, this wouldn't happen. Could have at least sieved it out when the plastic container landed in the mix.

Great fun place to visit and have a great day bite to eat. A very different menu but yum... The shop is rather dismal. Love the toilet signs 🚽and birdlife

We arrived about 15:30 (and it closes at 16:00), so we didn't visit the restaurant. But it's a great picnic spot (please take your own food), although there is a restaurant and a shop, as well as bathrooms. They also have an option for you to rent a gas burner to prepare food. Just be careful of the monkeys and baboons and do not feed the animals.

Loads have changed since our last visit. Still a great spot to stop and get some refreshments. Clean with number of tables to sit down and enjoy your icecream.

All the longer safari rides towards the south of KNP take a break at Tindlovu Boskombuis Afsaal Camp. This place is very close to the river where the Rhinos are. At the camp, there are enough options for food and drink If you have your own camp bag, you can find ample place to sit and eat. Beware of the scavengers :-) This is safe place in the middle of the forest. No electrical fence. You'll see hogs, leopards, and a variety of birds.

On a hot afternoon between 12:00 and 13:00 neither the shop, nor the restaurant had cold beverages in their fridges. Rest rooms were clean, but not all toilets were in working condition.

The same here. Been visiting since my childhood. The new modern just does not appeal to me, I feel so sad for everything that is lost in the Kruger. I think our visitors from around the world would have loved the old more because it was so unique to the Kruger

Friendly and active fast hospitality staff! Incredibly spacious for guests different needs! Great location! Accessible by any kind of whipp! Safe and peaceful. Such a wonderful stop for refreshments, bathroom, and muscle stretching on in the park!!

Doesn't even deserve a 1 star rating!!! I only ate 4 small bites of my pie and it gave me gastro! As well as with my partner. The swrvice was terrible and all the food looked really old! I will not be going to this part of the Park ever again unfortunately!!! Very sad!!!

Enjoy this picnic site. Great catering and nicely situated. Unfortunate that monkeys have moved in - but not too bad.

Great place to stop and have some lunch while driving through the park. Even have a chance to see some of the wildlife wander through, luckily there are rangers present to keep everyone safe if that occurs.

People can hire a gas braai to cook their own breakfast. Excellent take away coffee or hot chocolate from the kiosk. Also a very nice curio shop.

  • 3/5 Brendon S. 2 years ago on Google
Not bad. The ablutions are old and need some renovation and repair but are clean. The food we had was mixed. Some was good but the carrot cake was hard and stale. There was a problematic monkey that stole food from several people while we were there.

Very disappointed, stopped over with Guest. Steak egg and chipps from a cardboard box with soft plastic utensils. Full dustbins between grimy tables attracting flies, Staff can hardly make less effort. Kitchen facility below par. Fortunately the Game viewing success made up for it.

Well maintained spot in the park. Lovely, well-stocked shop and fast food outlet.

👍 We chose to order from the takeaway section on our last visit and the food was spot on. Delicious burgers and the kids chicken strips were amazing. Great view over the river with the elephants passing by. We ate in the restaurant last year and were also very happy with the food quality.
