We recently spend 2 nights at Shishangeni Lodge and although the game was not prolific perhaps due to the rain and cold we did see the Big 5 in 2 game drives. The staff deserve the most praise - from Siya the GM down - they were friendly and most accommodating. They did everything they could to make our stay the best. I was most impressed and thank them all for their outstanding service.

All I can say is WOW. The overall experience is top notch with fantastic and comfortable accommodations, super friendly and attentive staff, great food (and plenty of it), and perhaps most importantly, amazing animal viewing experience. This was our first safari so I don’t know how the lodge compares to others, but I honestly don’t know what it would take to beat Shishangeni. We stayed for 3 full days and, because of our incredibly knowledgeable and patient guide and because of the location of the lodge, we saw so many animals…we were tired of giraffes and elephants by day 2 and were looking for harder to spot creatures. If I had to nitpick, perhaps I’d want Wi-Fi, cell service, and TV in rooms (that’s only available in the main lodge), but perhaps there is a reason it’s not there and it’s for the better. General comment (regardless of the lodge you stay in) is that I think 3-4 days is about the right amount for a safari. That way you maximize your chances to see as many animals as possible and minimize your chances of losing precious time because of things like bad weather. We traveled late March and saw some incredible sunsets but also some gray skies and it would be a shame to miss those sunny days completely.

Absolutely amazing experience at Camp Shawu, a subcamp of the hotel. There is a water hole right in front of the camp, from which you can spot numerous animals day and night. The game drives were superb, we spotted all of the big 5 including a leopard in a tree, what an iconic sight to see! I loved every second here and will be returning hopefully sooner than later.

Our family of four booked in at the lodge and we were treated so well. We enjoyed a personal dining experience with the chef coming to our table and explaining the menu to us. Unfortunately our stay was cut short as we and our kids started feeling ill, but the lodge management was amazing to help us check out and also only charge us for the one night instead of our planned three nights.

I arrived 24 September 2021 for the long weekend with family. First had lunch and went to relax around the swimming pool. Pool area was dirty, recliner chairs are broken and there's only 3available. No staff to serve drinks and pick up dirty towels. Rooms the outside shower in our room blocked, we can't use it now,the fridge in one of our rooms is dirty. Some one needs to check before check in that everything is good so as to make guests happy on their arrival. It's excellent location and it has a good potential.

Beautiful lodge! The package includes the room (amazing room), 3 meals, snacks and most importantly a morning and evening game tours. Having a guide that knows where to go and have other guides that communicate with him if they found cool animals is so important! We couldn't have done it by ourselves, and we got to see all big 5! Very recommended!

We have been here 3 days during our honeymoon trip in September 2016: the place is very nice with all these houses connected with this elevated path to allow impalas and other animals to travel freely inside the resort. The staff was very very kind and accomodated all the group's requests (we were something like 10 Italian couples on honeymoon). The nicest thing to see during lunch was the stuff fighting with water guns against those little monkeys who were trying to steal food from the tables! The Park Guides were amazing: very experienced and communicative they managed to show us the Big Five in just 24h! The rest of those 3 days we managed to add another 2 of the Big ones and some other "less important" animals. To be honest the beginning of September is not the best period to go on a Safari, but apparently we got very lucky 😜!!!

Amazing staff and fantastic Safari guides! We saw cheetahs and lions thanks to the guides food was great and service was friendly and very attentive. We had our 6 and 7 year old kids along and they loved the pool and game area.

Absolutely amazing place, the rooms were gorgeous with outdoor showers and a huge bathtub looking out into the bush. The staff were very attentive and the game guides were super knowledgeable and passionate about making sure you saw as much as possible. Highly recommend.

We went to Shishangeni because we wanted the full safari experience, in a private reserve with less tourists. We stayed in the Shishangeni Private Lodge and we’re the only tourists there! We went in February (rainy season, but it only rained on the last day). We had a wonderful time; the rooms were spacious, had AC and a beautiful but hidden shower outdoors, the breakfast was delicious and so were the rest of the meals. Our game ranger was Solomon and he was great! We had 4 game drives (2 at night) and we were lucky enough to see elephants, rhinos, eagles, giraffes, zebras, buffalos, hippos, and, the most impressive of all: lions eating a dead giraffe (!).

The staff at the hotel were amazing, the room quality is outstanding. The food tastes great, all meals in the day. My group and I were lucky enough to go on safari tours with Solomon. I have visited many countries and I have had the pleasure of working with many tour guides but this was something special, Solomon is kind, considerate and is always looking to help or make you more comfortable. He's was very knowledgeable, able to answer all of our questions and is a great conversationalist. They are very lucky to have him as a part or their team, he had a very positive effect on our trip. Thank you to Solomon and the hospitality team for the standard of service provided in general.

World class. From checking in to checking out, everything was on point. The Shawu Camp manager Prayer was so helpful,he made sure we were looked after. I wouldn’t trade the experience for anything. Everything is authentic . The Game drive was awesome,Sfiso was very patient , friendly and very informative. He made the game drive fun. He makes the best Hot chocolate mixed with coffee.

There are not enough words to express how we really enjoyed our stay at Shishangeni. The room and its view, the vibes, the peace, the nature, the game drive and the purest nature around us… there are no words to describe it. Shishangeni is located almost at the borders with Mozambique, just nature around and you’ll be able to see animals from your outside patio. The staff is incredibly friendly and polite, and they will always go an extra mile to make you happy! Amanda and the rest of the team organised an amazing surprise for our birthday, a romantic dinner in our room, including a tasty birthday cake! We celebrated together and we had the best birthday of our lives. Solomon and the other ranger were super knowledgeable and they knew where to find animals, no matter how “quiet” it seemed. They communicate between each other to give everyone the chance to see them! Despite the load shedding, we felt like nothing was missing, a proper digital detox vacation! The food is incredibly good and they try to meet any kind of requests. If you are still wondering which location to choose for your safari, here above you’ve got the answer!
