What a little gem of a place! Unexpectedly beautiful with incredible service & the most breathtaking views over the Komati river. Rooms are far more luxurious than the photos on the website, a pleasant surprise. Although we’d love to try the self-catering chalets next time it was so nice being served such delicious food at the small & intimate restaurant. Would absolutely recommend staying here!

Thank you to Gavin Alcock who made effort to ensure that everything was perfect for my stay and also arranged the perfect spot for my online meeting with great WiFi and quiet surrounding. Thank you for making my life so easy while away from home.

Great atmosphere and a view over the River. Cold beer and delicious food makes it a hidden gem. Great place to stay when overnighting into Kruger or Mozambique.

The CEO and COO of Wostevia (Pty) Ltd had a lovely 3 night stay at River Hill Lodge. The rooms were clean and equipped with all the basics. Breakfast and dinner options were delicious. The general service was exceptional. Stunning sunsets, breathtaking views from the bar area and beautiful scenery and surroundings on the sunset cruise. Highly recommended. Thank you River Hill Lodge for an incredible stay!

Where to even begin with this place. It markets itself as a semi luxurious lodge nestled to and around nature. Which is true. But a quick look on Google maps and you will find it is 150m from a rail way line and right near the N4 where the coal trucks all park. For this you pay a rate similar to established lodges in the area. Upon driving in we knew this was a mistake. After the 1st night we booked at a much more pleasant lodge with twice the facilities and it was CHEAPER!!! I did not sleep at all. Trains shunting every 2 hours. People talking in adjacent properties. Chris completely oversold the place. The only salvage was that the piece of land/water belonging to the owners and not a part of the lodge is a good spot for tiger fishing. The quality and cleanliness of the chalet was appalling. The knives and forks were sticky and not clean upon arrival, floor was gritty, There was no dish towels, dish soap. Absolutely nothing! And nothing was mentioned to us prior. When asking we were provided. But why ask? When checking in. No times of checkout was mentioned. We stood by the car and was pointed to what where everything was. By a rather unresponsive individual. At the end of the day - I came from Norway to meet my South African parents. I ended up paying for 2 lodges as I wasn't even going to fight a fight and certainly was not staying here not a single second longer. I'll rather leave this review and save other people the time than going here. Perhaps my expectations are too high. But when staying at an established lodge whom fitted us in, made us feel more comfortable with great views and service and a spotless chalet, for LESS money, I'm left vindicated in my conclusion.

We stayed over at River Hill Lodge on the 14th Sep 2023 and we had an absolute blast!!! Management and staff are so friendly and welcoming. We really enjoyed our time there and were sad to leave the next morning. Such a great place!

Just spent four days at River Hill. From being welcomed by the friendly front end host Jenny, right until we departed, was a really great experience. The rooms are clean, the entire area is very neat, the bar has an awesome view, and the service is awesome overall. Would recommend it to anyone. 10/10

With so many lodges in the area you are really spoilt for choice. It all comes down to value for money and good service, friendly staff and a location that is beautiful if not pristine and well located. Enter River Hill Lodge. The rooms are spacious and air conditioning is one of the amenities.

Stayed in a non self catering unit. The place was lovely. Staff very friendly, helpful & accommodating. View from the bar and swimming pool over the river is breathtaking. You won't regret going there.

All I can say is Service service that's what you get from Rivier Hill Lodge. Willing, all ways have a smile and nothing to small is a problem well done to all the staff. Coupled with the service, wonderful day out on the water fishing, lovley dinners a ice cold beverages after a hot day out, who could ask for more. My no 1 and only place to go to when visiting again in Komatipoort. Many thanks see you soon Regards Craig

Wow! Gavin was amazing! I requested champagne and a platter on arrival, it was my birthday, and it was fantastic! The rooms are wonderful and nothing was too much trouble. The chef did a fantastic meal and us highly recommended. This will be a regular stop for us on or from Mozambique! 5 stars all the way and thank you Gavin and chef! Need to add that dinner tonight with chef maralise, was fantastic! The burger was more than ed expected and the beer battered fish a must. We topped off our meal with peach crumble ... Well you will have to come try it, speaks for itself!
