I will recommend visiting Konark Sun temple museum before actually visiting the Sun temple. The reason is this museum gives complete history of Sun temples all over the world. It also gives information about all Sun temples in India. Construction details of Konark Sun temple is given in photographs and text. There is about 20 minutes film on Sun temple. Must visit.

It is a newly constructed museum built just before the Konark temple named as Arka Khetra. It has all the replicas of the architecture made in Konark with stones. The place was crowded when I was there. You will not need any tickets to get inside there but to visit the museum and theatre one needs the ticket. The Ambience inside is quite good. The lighting system works perfectly. Overall good experience ✌🏻

Very thrilling experience. Awesum galary and showcase explaining historical, archaeological and cultural heritage of country. Their theatre gives entire idea of Konark temple. Very good experience. Prefer to see before visiting the temple. They have light and sound show but limited 150 seats per show. Ticket distribution is a problem. No on line booking facility, no announcement of remaining tickets. Guides or some persons buy in bulk and found sale outside.

On the shores of the Bay of Bengal, bathed in the rays of the rising sun, the temple at Konarak is a monumental representation of the sun god Surya's chariot; its 24 wheels are decorated with symbolic designs and it is led by a team of six horses. Built in the 13th century, it is one of India's most famous Brahman sanctuaries.

Very nice place. Everyone should visit this place. It is maintained by ONGC. Entry fee is Rs. 50/- . Before going to Konark sun temple everyone should visit this place. Every 15- 20 minutes here one animated film is going on the history of the temple. Here everyone can see some rarest old picture of excavation work of sun temple.

I went today, and actually it's a very good place and nice museum. It covers the entire history and architecture of Konark sun temple. I will recommend visiting the museum before visiting the actual temple as you will understand the behind the scenes of the actual temple. Ticket cost is Rs 50, but usually during Sun festival it's free of cost like today. There is proper security and maintenance inside. Overall it's amazing and don't forget to miss the auditorium before exiting as it will let u know the history of the temple in audio visual mode.

Indian oil just recreated the konar sun temple in this museum.. The story line start with history of odissa and going in detail to history with facts and mythology without facts and stories. The film they played in the auditorium is good concept but lacking in factual evidence. It also supports the right-wing ideology buy cooked up stories around the temple. Giving 2 star only for the ideology driven agenda on public platform.

This Museum of Konark Temple is just opposite to Konark Sun Temple and is very well maintained by Indian Oil Corporation Limited. There is an entry fees of just Rs. 30 for exploring the museum. A must visit place to know the History of Konark Sun Temple before visiting the Actual Temple. Since only a part of Originally Built Sun Temple is remaining, so its best to know the details in the museum first before trying to explore the place. You come to know each and every detail of the Temple and only then it becomes interesting to visit the Actual temple. They also have an auditorium where they show a short movie of about 15 mins about the Sun Temple. So I would highly recommend to visit the museum first to make your trip to Konark Sun Temple more enhancing.

The Konark museum started in the year 1968 and maintained by the Archaeological Survey of India. The museum is located near the main temple in the north direction. The museum has four galleries that showcase 260 different fallen architectural pieces and sculptures that were found during the clearance work of Konark temple complex. The Konark museum is a treasure house for historians and art lovers and is open for public. First gallery of the museum holds 62 antiquities, out of which the image of Surya in sand stone, the Khandolite built reconstructed wheel, various incarnations of Lord Visnu, etc. are a major attractions. Second gallery exhibits 108 antiquities including reconstructed wall of temple, the drummer and the head of the crocodile in gigantic nature. Third gallery of this museum showcases 45 objects like celestial nymphs, image of Surya Narayana, Gaja Vyala, the king and his troop and various sensual figures. Recent addition to the museum is the fourth gallery, which holds exhibit of 45 artifacts including roaring lion, man tied by the elephant trunk, part of a Surya image, sensual couples and king witnessing dance performances are some of the art works displayed at this gallery. There is a movie of 15 mins which captures the story very well.

All the information related to konark temple and its history. Air conditioned museum. Also there is a small air conditioned auditorium inside having a screen and cushioned folding seats where the history of konark temple and how it was made, who made it, what led to its destruction is being shown in the form of a very short animated movie.

I was captivated by the temple's massive structure, which was designed in the shape of a colossal chariot with intricately carved stone wheels and horses. The detailed craftsmanship and artistry displayed throughout the temple complex are commendable. While the temple has experienced significant decay over the centuries, it still remains a popular tourist attraction. Exploring the temple and its surroundings offers a glimpse into the rich cultural and architectural heritage of ancient India.

Best public holiday place near long sea beach.Konark Sun Temple is a 13th-century CE (year 1250) Sun temple at Konark about 35 kilometres (22 mi) northeast from puri city on the coastline in Puri district,Odisha . The temple is attributed to king Narasimhadev I of the eastern ganga dynasty about 1250 CE.Dedicated to the Hindu Sun God Surya, what remains of the temple complex has the appearance of a 100-foot (30 m) high chariot with immense wheels and horses, all carved from stone. Once over 200 feet (61 m) high, much of the temple is now in ruins, in particular the large shikhara tower over the sanctuary; at one time this rose much higher than the mandapa that remains. The structures and elements that have survived are famed for their intricate artwork, iconography, and themes, including erotic kama and mithuna scenes. Also called the Surya Devalaya, it is a classic illustration of the Odisha style of Architecture or Kalinga architecture. Its newly open konark museum is showing all about the history of konark temple.

When you visit Konark temple it has many attractions such as huge sun temple, marvelous carvings, nice idols, it's beautiful architect. History of place. While doing so you come across many (Mithun Shilpa) many idols of different sex positions. Second level of temples wall is full of these carvings while one layer shows mythology stories & bottom portion displays horses & elephants indicate speed & stability. You enjoy all these & look at different sex positions display. It says that after war when young generation lost this temple is attracted common man for this viewing & purpose of the carvings served to bring back people back to temples Worth watching as an art

Except for the guard who was playing content on the highest volume and didn't reduce it even after being told, this museum, maintained by IOCL is very well put and well kept. Take time to visit; it's definitely an hour's investment with ₹50.

The Sun Temple in Konark, Odisha, is an architectural marvel known for its intricate carvings and unique design. Dedicated to the Sun God, it's a UNESCO World Heritage site and showcases stunningly detailed sculptures depicting various aspects of life and mythology. The temple's architectural brilliance and cultural significance make it a must-visit for history buffs and architecture enthusiasts. However, due to its age and preservation challenges, parts of the structure might be in various states of decay, but the overall grandeur and beauty are awe-inspiring.

Oh what a trip! The place felt truly magical. Had seen konark in various videos before. But looking at it like this, determined and resolute, unfazed is breathtaking. It was raining when we reached there. By the time we had completed visiting the attached museum the sky has cleared. As if even the weather wanted us to marvel at this wonder. Thoroughly enjoyed the time there .
