It is an old Hindu temple for GOD Chennakesav Swamy(Vishnu). Chennakesava is a famous and trusted deity for Uppuluru village people since ages. Every year, there will be a "Rath Yatra for God" on the full moon day of Mahavaisakhi during summer. All village people wherever they are in the world.. they try to attend this famous festival and to meet all their family members and friends.

Uppaluru is a small village existed in between Undi and Ganapavaram road. One can reach by bus or auto. The buses will fly from Bhimavaram town to Ganapavaram Town, so we have to take bus from Himavaram to reach this village. From Bhimavaram it is nearly 20 km away. Sri Chennakesava swamy temple existed in this village is a famous one in this region. It is the only temple in India, where the Archakas are Maladasulu i.e. Harijan Priests. The temple is having Garbhagriha the main deity is Vishnu, Stone sculpture, below this main deity there are Panchaloha utsav idols flanked by Alwars. All are worshiped in the Garbhagriha. The Dwarapalaka “Jaya and Vijaya” are stood either of the Antharalyam door. Infront of the Mukhamandapa there is Kalyana Mandadapa. Nearly 800 years back when Palanati war was look place where in between Nayakurlu Nagamma and Brahma Naidi Sri Thiruveedhi Narayana Das and his two brothers with their families taken away the idol of Sri Chennekesava Swamy in 1280 A.D to Simhachalam, Visakhapatnam district via Nuzivedu. These families used to bag alms in their way to Simhachalam. After knowing that the peaceful conditions previled in Palnadu are these priests made return journey to Palnadu, while coming back they have reached this Uppaluru and stayed for a day. When they want to continue their return journey they were unable to lift the idol. On that same night they said God gave vision to the priests and said that he has selected this village to stay permanently. In those days this god was called as Appalaswamy.
