Probably the 4th in size byzantine museum of Greece but with an excellent collection of icons. Plus the museum offers to groups the opportunity for a nice walk to the byzantine churches of Kastoria.

Flawlessly good experience. We had a tour of the Byzantium churches, which were built during the 10th and 12 century. Astonishing frescoes. The museum freshly renovatated in the old town of Kastoria. They've put an exhibition of the process of making icons. Recommend visiting.

Wonderful collection of Byzantine icons from the Kastoria area. Plenty of information in both Greek and English. Helpful staff and very clean toilets.

Very much worth a visit, but take the time to really engage with the icons to make the most of the experience. There’s some masterpieces of Byzantine art here, no doubt, but also remember that these images were the focus of adoration and veneration for thousands of people over hundreds of years. They represents so much more than just art. The experience of getting up close to the icons and being able to see the brush strokes, the imperfections and the general wear and tear is something you don’t often get in an art gallery. The collection is thoughtfully presented in three halls and includes an enlightening video presentation showing a contemporary artist producing an icon using traditional methods.

A recently renovated visitor-friendly museum exhibiting mostly panel icons and sanctuary doors from Byzantine and post-Byzantine period from the area of Kastoria. Very clean place and well taken care. Congratulations for the great work! (Entrance 4€)

Small but nice museum, primarily focused on Byzantine and post-Byzantine Icons with some unique pieces that you will normally see in all the handbooks of Byzantine Art. Very helpfull staff who helped us visit some of the Byzantine churches around the city centre despite the very short notice.
