A beautiful area with a lot to see and do. I highly recommend coming but making this an entire day excursion. Dress nicely for the monastery but bring a change of clothes and enjoy the beach and restaurants in that same area.

Yeah, it’s a nice monastery but if you saw the one in Ohrid which in my opinion is in a much better setting with much less tourists you can skip this one. You can feel that everything there was made to make money of people gift shops, expensive restaurants, paid parking, boat trips, etc. A lot of people are all around the place.

Great magical place! You can meet even peacocks in the area. This is the first monastery I’ve visited where I saw peacocks Statue of St Naum is new from the real “alive” tree with roots inside. You should visit all churches in area. It’s amazing to walk around through rivers, forest with dragonflies and singing of birds.

The number one place to visit in Ohrid. The beauty and majesty of this special place is beyond words to describe. You must visit the Monastery of St. Naum to experience it. The drive with a car or taking a boat over, both options are scenic and gorgeous. Few details: Breathtaking view on the lake, parking 50 denars, toilet 20den, lot of nice gift shops and jewelry, good restaurants (I recommend Ostrovo), boat toar 🛶 on the springs, green park, beach.

Beautiful place and free entry. Unfortunately the water fixtures in the garden weren’t working when we were here. I heard this place was on the cover of the National Geographic… but honestly I liked the smaller church in Ohrid better. The views, however, are to die for. The color of the water just incredible.

I would give the beautiful springs that lead into the lake 5 stars. So clear water. The monastery church has lovely frescos but the outside is like any other medieval church of the times and not that much around it to make the monastery stand out aesthetically. The frescos inside are brilliant though but no Pictures allowed

(Translated by Google) The whole complex leaves you speechless. You are greeted by peacocks, and white peacocks are rare and as if all peacocks are aware of their beauty and captivate you to watch them for a long time. You enter through the wooden gates to the monastery. How to listen to Nahum's heart and those are the waves that hit the rocks under the monastery. The view of the lake amazes you and we always want to stay longer. We light a candle for health ...

Absolutely beautiful and very peaceful. Untouched nature and beautiful churches. The monastery is located up the hill but u have to visit it if you are in the area. The road that leads here is in very bad condition, parking is cheap and the kiosks are expensive and the take cash only. Overall great experience and must visit if you are in Ohrid.

I would give 10 stars for the location and the view!! The only restaurant where you sit with fresh air… smoking is outside. 3 stars for the food. The food is average-bad… not so fresh vegetables in the salad, the meat is under average. The prices are 10% higher than the town restaurants in Ohrid. I would drink only bear and enjoy the view..

Be aware of peacocks. :D You will see this sign anywhere in St. Naum. But actually if you don't harm or scare them, they do nothing. On the other hand, this place is fabulous. Lake looks like sea and it is full of with peace. There is also a restaurant and some souvenirs. If you don't have your private car, you may use shuttle bus from center.

Beautiful old monastery dating back to the 10th century. It’s perfect for a whole summer day with the family and friends. Other than the monastery itself, walking the surrounding and gardens is really beautiful, offering great views of Ohrid lake. Additionally you have a nice beach so don’t forget to bring your bathing suit and picnic basket for a perfect day. There are many restaurants and booths selling touristy souvenirs if you care for that. מומלץ מאד לבלות לפחות חצי יום באיזור כולל רחצה באגם ופיקניק על החוף. ממש יפה שם!

A beautiful monastery on the shore of lake Ohrid, in a calm area, not so far away from the city of Ohrid. The monastery was built around 893-900, when it was still part of the First Bulgarian Empire. It houses the rains of Saint Naum Ohridski, from where it derives the monastery's name. You can see some peacocks walking casually around, being used to human presence, which are great for pictures.

Beautiful ancient monastary. The entrance fee is 150 denars. In the garden, which is free there are peacocks wandering around. A little bit random.

Fantastic place. There is a reason why it is flooded by many tourists. I was fortunate enough to visit in early June and had a very small crowd. It is super rich in history and has spectacular views. Definitely would recommend if you are in Ohrid and looking for something to do.

We were here in the early morning and it was not that busy. The monastery is beautiful and unique. But don't go with the boat ride to the spring were a church is built on top of. The boat trip is 30 minutes and all boats men asked between 17 and 20 euro. Which is absurd. So we didn't go. But we found a path that starts at the camping and is a 10 minute walk to the same spring were all the boats stop. The price is a total rip-off for such a short trip. Such a shame for such a nice place

Sv.Naum Monastery first build in 905 The Monastery of St. Naum is a magnificently massive complex, located 29 kilometers south of Ohrid,. It is, without any doubt, one of the most attractive Macedonian tourist destinations. With a wonderful surrounding area, the St. Naum Monastery is a popular day trip where you can enjoy both nature and religious heritage. The original monastery was built on this very same plateau, in 905 by Saint Naum of Ohrid himself. Taken down between the 11th and 13th century, the monastery was then rebuilt in the 16th century as the multidomed byzantine structure that you see today. St. Naum of Ohrid (Sveti Naum in Macedonian), was a medieval scholar and writer, who together with Saint Clement continued the task of spreading Christianity among the Slavic speaking people of the region. Building upon the work of the sainted brothers Cyril and Methodius, St. Naum is associated with the creation of the Glagolitic and Cyrillic scripts. Known as a living saint for the many miracles he performed, St. Naum of Ohrid died in 910, at the old age of 80, and was buried inside the monastery. Myths and legends say that you can bring your ear to the stone coffin and hear his heartbeat even today. The tourist guides, on the other hand, will tell you that it’s the water of Lake Ohrid crushing against the rock formation down below. This is one of the first monuments of Slavic church architecture, built during byzantine times. Stretching for several kilometers the site nearby is known as the springs. With huge pockets of water, changing color as the vegetation grows, it is one of the most surreal places in the Ohrid region . The springs almost connect the two lakes under the Galicica Mountain, esnetially bringing water from the Lake of Prespa, feeding the Black Drin River (Black Drim). The area resembles South American swamps, only much more picturesque, with crystal clear water. How to get to the Monastery of St. Naum Arrive to the monastery with a boat. Catch a bus from Ohrid Or drive from Ohrid

Park at the entrance of the resort, which is very fairly priced. Then go up to the monastery, admire the interior painting of the church, appreciate the views and maybe the peacocks as well.

Don't order the lemonade in the restaurant, they brought it to me full of flies (pic included), which wasn't the best start to a meal I've had... the food was good, but I couldn't get away from the thought of the lack of hygiene, I was slightly confused as to if they didn't notice or didn't care, either is pretty awful... however our waiter was a lovely lovely man, and the place is obviously gorgeous.

Magical place worth the 40 minutes trip from Ohrid. Perfect views especially during sunset. Very calm and peaceful, almost serene place. There is also a little sandy beach that you can take a swim on. The peacock eas super patient when taking pictures of it, however be aware as they can be harmful. 10/10 place.

Visit it on a sunny day, in the early morning or early noon.. when there are not many people. Friendly boatmen offer transportation along the springs of the crystal clear river that flows into the lake. Very beautiful places.

Large monastery located on the bank of Lake Ohrid. You can take a boat from Ohrid or drive. They have peacocks that roam the monastery so use caution as these animals can be aggressive. You can take boat cruises up the natural freshwater spring, spend time at the beach and enjoy the amazing views. There are numerous restaurants where there are tortoises in the garden area. They also sell souvenirs.

It’s a must visit if you’re in the vicinity of Ohrid. It offers beautiful views to the lake and the main attraction besides the medieval chapel and cafes are the showstoppers with their colorful feathers. Check video

If you’ve opted for any kind of your in the area you’ll be brought to this sprawling monastery and tourist hotspot. There are plenty of devout Orthodox Christian’s kissing icons, backing out of churches and chucking money in water but there are many more tourists. Lots of opportunities to spend - boat rides up the holy springs, souvenirs, restaurants…. Some surprising wildlife, the peacocks, long earred squirrels, tortoises and snakes. You can walk to the holy spring church and you’ll pass a field if abandoned caravans which I enjoyed. A cool space to spend a few hours. The main church at the monastery is an ancient space that feels special.

Beautiful monastery in a picturesque village. If you are looking for a day trip destination from Ohrid city, St. Naum may be something for you. Just note that the monastery in St. Naum is very similar to the architecture of the church buildings in Ohrid. We came from Ohrid by car (the road is tricky in some parts). There is sufficient parking space at entrance of St. Naum (costs a small amount to park there).
