Hurmm where to start , they just reopened after maybe 1 year plus of hiatus. I book for the beachfront room, the room that we got was far from beach and hidden by the bushes Thanks to their manager after discussion we managed to get the room we wants The food was okay, a little too much salt on their squids Breakfast was disappointment since it was ala carte and limited 1 per person Internet connection was basically none, and the things is they didnt care to mention they have mobile wifi which u can request even though i did ask them is there any wifi in room Overall i was an okay place

Well honest review here.. food is very expensive and not worth the price, not as expected quality and portion. Due to the reason they do not allow you to bring in outside food or drinks into the resort, you have no choice but to dine here and also only 2 bottle water are provided per day per room. And bottled Drinking WATER will be charged @ RM3/btl #notspritzer but some 0.80cent - 1RM drinking water. And due to recent bad weather here, we requested to change date due that we have infant along this trip. They rejected and said that guest are not permitted to postpone or change the date due to inclement weather. <โ€”โ€” this is very disappointing. Last but not least, Telco issue. ONLY DIGI & Calvin gets signal here. MAXIS, U-Mobile is totally dead here. So brace yourself if youโ€™re maxis or U mobile user. Resort no provide Wifi in the room. And Why do I rate it 2 stars? 1 : Their room is great and comfortable and clean. No doubt. 2 : Crew are very friendly and helpful. Lovely :) I hope that if the management sees this comment. Iโ€™m thank you for the helpful hospitality during the raining days and sorry for the honest truth given about the price tag and food quality.

My wife and i stayed here for 5 nights in May, We were greeted by Carl the manager who on arrival gave us a tour and continued to be attentive along with all the hard working staff throughout our stay. (a big thank you from us both) The whole place is stunning and peaceful with spacious luxurious rooms with all the needs and requirements for guests. The food was delicious with plenty of choices on the menuโ€™s. We would highly recommend staying here. Thank you Carl and all the staff.

Absolutely brilliant place. Would recommend to anyone. The lodges are beautifully hidden in the jungle and the staff are always happy to help. Service is impeccable. Go and see for yourself this little jewel in Borneo.

Itโ€™s a wonderful calm relaxing resort. The staffs are all kind and helpful. The room condition is great. There are many activities for free such as Kayak and snorkeling. They rent the tools and a boat. Zip-line in the jungle is not that expensive but needed to make a reservation. The resort boat from the mainland is for free but need to reserve. It takes 20-30 minutes to reach the island. There are lots of mosquitoes and sand flies at night. You should ask the resort to give you some sand fly repellents. That works. I love the swimming pool and the sea view.

I came during a very quiet season, and the resort is running on reduced steam (only one restaurant and reduced spa service). However it's a gorgeous resort, rooms are well appointed and maintained and staff are fantastic and go out of their way to assist. However, pointers. (1) There is zero maxis service on that part of Gaya and there is no WiFi in the rooms - hotel generally rents you a mifi for RM 36 a day for up to 500mb. WiFi is otherwise avail at the restaurant. (2) they don't seem to run all inclusive packages and given you're on an island, their restaurant is very expensive. (3) although I had a wonderful time snorkelling all day, there is stuff to see, and it's so incredibly close to KK - the coral is mostly dead. So if coral is what you've come for (was just a nice to have for me) this is not the place. (4) it's prohibitively expensive if you want to go island hopping or do other things. They charge RM300 for docking fees each time a boat comes in, so you have to be prepared to just sit there and relax, unless you have a few people to split with.Overall however it was a beautiful couple of days in paradise to get some good sleep and vitamin sea. Probably at a much more reasonable price than Gaya Island Resort which directly faces KK. Water is so calm and in the season I came, no rubbish, no jellyfish and no seaweed or algae washout - tho I get it happens sometimes. Oh 2 more things. Pretty happy wine selection if you like that. Downside, the resort has no sunrise nor sunset view (if you want that picture). Resort faces north.

My husband and I booked 4D3N at Bunga Raya resort and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The view was amazing and the sea was very clear. We booked a deluxe room and it is very spacious. The bed is huge, there is a linked TV room and even a bathtub (which was a pleasant surprise because I didnโ€™t read it in their room description). It was a great getaway if you like nature and would just want to have quality time with your loved ones. The service was excellent and I must thank Fenellon and Clement for making us feel so cared for. The food was decent and I particularly enjoyed their grilled fish, fish fingers and tuaran noodles. Overall, a great stay. Do bring good insect repellent and cream because itโ€™s an eco resort and you may get insect bites.

Had an excellent stay here - the staff were all immensely friendly and helpful, especially when we had to book activities on short notice, the food was varied and all tasty, and the resort is gorgeous. You really feel close to nature in your villa while still being close to all the activities. They work hard to keep their bay pristine and it shows - the water is clear and warm, and by the jetty you can snorkel and see all sorts of fish and coral. When we arrived it was unseasonably pouring with rain for two days, and amazingly it was still one of the most enjoyable trips we have had in a long time. I also liked that the resort catered both to couples and families - both were at the resort and the experience wasnโ€™t affected for either. Lastly I would recommend a plunge pool villa - right on the beach and very spacious with excellent AC.

It was a delight to be here. Great hospitality. The resort is spread across a large area so you hardly meet other guests except for breakfast, lunch or dinner. So it feels like a private island. Very friendly staff who go about and beyond to make you feel at home. Overall a true island paradise! Cheers to the team bungaraya.

We had a great time at the resort. The rooms are great, comfortable beds, air con, free wifi and tv and a big bathroom. The service is great, everybody is just so friendly. Views from our no 48 room was beautiful, including the monkeys in the mornings. We enjoyed every minute of our stay. Also the snorkeling is awsome and so is the jungle walk and flying fox. So, really nothing to complain. Beautiful views, great rooms, good food, best service, really didn't need anything more. Cant wait to go back.

Pros: Resort is nice, snorkelling is great, service is good and morning stretch and exercises is a healthy start to morning and free morning breakfast is a big plus. Morning Canopy walk is very refreshing. Cons: Fittings in resort needs attention. Towel rack is rusty. Toilet door lock is missing. Stand lamp switch not working hence lights on for 24 hours and plug is behind heavy cabinet. Lots of sand flies and mosquitoes. Make sure apply provided repellent. Large Monkey tried to enter our room, make sure close your door. F&B needs more manpower and consistency. We ordered Prawn Noodles that came without prawns. And upon request they cook 3 prawns for us. Unthinkable! Pricey resort.

This is by far the best resort I've been to near Kota Kinabalu. Located at the northeast of the gaya island. This strategic location made it a quiet place and calm water. Which made it perfect for gateway with close ones. The room was very spacious. Service was superb. We were greeted upon arriving at the dock. Full baggage service and buggy transport to the villa. The environment was beautiful. We went on the canopy walk although I didn't enjoy that much because I was afraid of snake. Water sports were nice. I enjoyed the paddle board in the calm sea. Snorkeling was nice but the water clarity was not perfect further away from the shore. There was only one restaurant opened during our stay. The food was great. Their local fried rice is even better than those on the mainland. There was much more to explore and play so I would recommend at least 2 nights stay.

Nice private beach and good for a quick getaway from one's daily life as the mobile/cell reception there is terribly bad. Rooms are spacious but the cleanliness however, was rather upsetting as there were stains on the bedsheets and towels. Housekeeping did not bothered changing the bedsheets during the entirety of our stay and amenities were not replenished often. This is disappointing since the rooms themselves were not cheap. I do have to commend on the staffs' friendliness though. They made us felt welcomed and was quick to respond to any needs.

Absolutely breathtaking. We took a day trip over from Kota Kinabalu. It was worth the price just for the food we received. Let alone the snorkeling in crystal clear waters. Everyone was very welcoming, helpful and friendly too.

Their service is best of the best. If I could rate them more, it will be a 10star. The room is also very well upkeep and taken care of. Very nice beach and forest. Full of plants and animals. Snokeling, kayaking, jungle tracking are included.

An amazing place to stay, so beautiful and very peaceful. The staff, led by Karl the manager, are super-friendly and do everything they can to make your stay comfortable and fun. The food is excellent and the chef and his team catered for our specific needs. We highly recommend this Gem of a place to stay ๐Ÿ‘

Google review summary 4.4 Very good 213 reviews Reviews Search reviews amanda khor 5/5 22 minutes ago on Google First of all, must compliment all the dedicated staff in maintaining the resort, the bay area, the beach in tip top condition. Its white sandy beach, clear seawater, simply a beautiful resort so close to nature. The rooms are clean, lovely, beautiful and comfortable. All the staff are diligent, helpful, courteous and simply incredible. The variety of food offered by the Resort is simply delicious. Must be a masterchef at BungaRaya Island Resort. Add to this, we are touched by the personalised, friendly warm greetings from the dedicated Resort Manager, himself. What a paradise. This whole resort is perfect - lovely accommodation, the most fantastic food and great staff. Exceeded expectations in every sense. Loads of water based activities for free. Breakfast included was 10/10 and all other meals were excellent - big shout out to the chefs. Would highly recommend a stay here.

Stayed there in April for a short trip, fabulous plunge pool room and spacious ! Room amenities are tip top! My son don't want to get out from the bathtub and plunge pool ! We all had so much fun ! staff are very friendly and genuine, here you don't need to worry anything about service and food quality. Breakfast is amazing ! Had great dive nearby the island, evening time can take a lot of good photos , spotted hornbills and wildboar. Best resort I've stayed for far. Better than any 5 star resorts in town. You get the real holiday .. quiet and relax vacation, great quality time with family! Will definitely come back for more stay ๐Ÿ˜

Beautiful location and resort! Great hospitality as well. We came here last weekend for a one-night staycation (not long enough!!) and unfortunately it rained on the day we arrived. Although we weren't able to snorkel/kayak/swim as planned, we had a good time relaxing in the comfortable room (take note that there was no wifi in our room) and spending the afternoon at the restaurant (wifi available here). We managed to spot some hornbills and monitor lizards in the rain. Fortunately, the rain cleared up and there was a really nice sunset. Food is of good quality though there is definitely room for improvement! Certain areas of the resort can seem a bit old and run down. They are currently doing renovations on their other restaurant. The best thing about this place is how clear the waters are. Would definitely come back to snorkel and kayak considering how close it is to the "mainland". I also loved spotting the different type of hibiscuses around the resort.

Staff are very polite and friendly. Buggy provided from inland transportation if you wanna relax ride to most of the location in the resort. Canopy and one of the restaurant were under maintenance during this visit. But the other restaurant open daily from 730am till 1000pm serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. Water sport such as snorkeling, kayaking, standout paddle boarding and etc are available in the resort. Those who like photograph insect and snake at nightwalk will advise to bring their macro lens and flash. Hornbill and sunbird sighted during our two days stay here in the resort. The breakfast is complimentary for in house guest from 730am till 10am only. Average meal per order for lunch and dinner cost around RM35 to RM60.00.

I highly recommend booking your Borneo dive trips with Echo resorts. The whole experience was top notch with a skilled skipper, a helpful dive master, a highly experienced and passionate dive instructor. The equipments provided were in great condition and well maintained. They know all the best spots too. Bunga Raya resort offers beautiful uninterrupted views of the ocean. During my visit, we also encountered amazing wild life (such as hornbills) which was such a treat. I would not hesitate to recommend this professional family run business to my friends and family visiting Borneo.

A paradise to relax and enjoy life! The staff was tremendously friendly and helpful, the villas well built and overall a luxurious experience. Some small renovations are due, but overall a very pleasant stay.

This establishment is supported only by the chef in the restaurant closer to the pier and by a wonderful administrator named James DEAN. Thanks to these people, our last evening at the hotel was simply unforgettable! Thank you! Thanks to James DEAN, the atmosphere of every dinner was unforgettable! I also want to mention the good manager of this hotel, who pays attention to every little thing, so that the time of provenance becomes even better! Signature: Lover of iced tea

We came here for 3 days during a bachelorette trip and had a memorable 3 days in Bunga Raya Resort. We enjoyed the tranquility and the stunning immersive nature surrounding us. Be sure to take advantage of the calm waters in the morning for sports and snorkeling (we saw two types of Clown Fish!) as it gets cloudy and rough in the afternoon. You will need to travel around by buggies as the villas are mostly situated in the higher grounds. The food is good and offers decent variety so we didn't have complaints for the 8 meals we had there. Staff are really friendly but one thing to note is that there can be some miscommunications, as we experienced when booking the spa. Although we emailed back and forth to confirm for a spa for 4 people at the same time, we were told the night before that there are only 2 masseuses available so we had to change our plans last minute for this. We loved the canopy tour but be aware that there are a lot of wild animals living around, including long tail macaques that come into our porch. Overall, we felt well-taken care of during our stay and would recommend this experience to others. It is not the most luxurious experience but certainly a special memory.

Had a fantastic time, the lodges we had were great. We can not fault the service the staff and the food. The island is peaceful but there are activities to do if you want them. Can not fault our stay there, highly recommend a visit.

It is a place to destress from busy life in Klang Valley.. when you are at this island, you will feel so relax. Activities here basically snorkeling (better bring your own set during COVID pandemic era), water sports, flying fox & walking on hanging bridge in the forrest. Food wise very nice. Villa : mine was deluxe villa , you have to climb the stairs up and one thing that resort manager need to look into is lightning at the staircase. It is very dark at night when back from lovely dinner. All staffs in this resort are very polite with excellent softskill. Upon arrival to this island you will be welcome by resort manager โ€ฆ. A place to unwind from busy city life.

We loved the stay at this amazing property! I have stayed in quite a few premium luxury resorts but Bunga Raya felt a bit more special. Tucked away in the exclusive Polish Bay area and led by the affable resort manager Laurent, the staff is friendly, forthcoming and accommodating. The villa that we had was spacious with flattering views of the South China Sea. Bustling with natural life, the snorkeling and the diving are both excellent. I recommend Jen as a dive master if you are looking for diving. The food is fabulous and they have a pretty impressive wine cellar with wines - both old world and new - from around the world for you to choose from. You can even arrange for a dinner in the wine cellar. I highly recommend and we will be back soon.

Insanely beautiful hotel set in between beach and coral reefs and jungle. We stayed in a room with a plunge pool and had the best floating breakfast. Staff are friendly, helpful and attentive, they organised a complicated return off the island via a diving trip in a totally hassle-free way. We told them it was our honeymoon and we arrived to a beautifully decorated room.

We stayed at the resort for a couple of nights a few weeks ago and really enjoyed it. The resort was at a secluded location and not so big, so the place was very quiet and peaceful because there were nobody else other than the guests and hotel staff. The villa was very large, clean and comfortable, with a separate building for the living room. The boat ride was not bad, about 40 minutes on a larger boat because of heavy rain, but only 15 minutes on a speed boat on the return trip to shore. I was โ€œworking from homeโ€ during the stay and nothing beats having an โ€œofficeโ€ in a hut next to the swimming with beautiful view of the ocean. Mobile phone reception was very good even though the location was remote. A highly recommended place to stay if you want to relax and unwind.

It was a relaxing stay for me and my husband. We did kayaking, snorkeling and canopy walk. Unfortunately we didnโ€™t manage to do the zip line because theres a maintenance to be done. The Staffs are excellent and friendly especially Mrs. Enny. She tries her best to lend us a sport shoes for us to do the canopy walk.. ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š not to forget Ms.Jean thanks for guiding us and the knowledge of local trees and plants.

Stunningly beautiful resort. Swimming pool literally in front of the sea. Great sea view, nosh was lovely. Waves sounds is just bring the peace. So relaxing!! Great staff and so friendly obviously.

Very friendly staff. The resort is like a paradise, though the ocean is full of waste, mostly plastic. So read up on when the beach and water is less likely to be polluted. We where here in may, and that was good for us. The restaurants is ok, not very good but not awful either. We where served chicken medium rare, but they quickly offered to serve something else instead. It can be a steep walk from the villas to the restaurants/beach. Prices are fairly high.

Amazingly close wildlife including large (70+cm) lizards, monkeys, snakes and hornbills. Food is about a 7-8/10, some dishes miss the mark a little whereas others are fantastic, though all vary a bit in quality. Staff are friendly though not always helpful - it can sometimes take 10 mins to get a menu or drink that was requested. Internet is slow but usable. Pool is a 10/10, it's a good temperature, size and is an infinity pool. Excellent location and excellent snorkelling, well equipped "activity center".
