This temple is also called Halavu makkala taayi. Believed to help with infertility . Many experiences and incidents are narrated in this. We see several protrusions( smooth rocks) around the sacred sanctorium of the Devi. These are believed to come up( udhbhav) every three years from the ground. All in all, the stories and experiences of many make this a unique place to visit. Nearby Latha hotel is also very popular as a sampler for local cuisine.

Famous temple 'halavu makkala tai' describes that the goddess is mother of many children's. Also believed that the married women's who are expecting to have kids and are unable to conceive are believed to bare children's after being blessed by the goddess. Also people narrate stories that the stones around garbagudi(god's main residing place) come from inside the sand automatically and they grow and are considered to be children's of godess. Small hygiene and we'll maintained temple. Beautiful view of God while you enter situation very close to main road.

Very powerful temple (Reviewed on 2nd November 2019) Visited this temple again on 16th October 2021. Sri Amrutheswari Temple, Kota (Udupi District and close to it too) Must visit if you are around there. Lovely temple and an amazing sthala purana. It is called Halavu Makkala Thayi Kshetra. Witnessed some bhaktas who were miraculously blessed. There are 100s of Lingas around the Sanctum Sanctorum believed to be Kumbhamukshi wife of Kharasura, but an ardent Shiva Bhakte which is considered children and hence the name Halavu Makkala Thayi (mother of many Children)

Please do ask on the importance of the temple. There are lingas around the sanctum of the goddess which are swayambhu from the earth. It is considered to be coming from the womb of earth one stone once in 3 years and grows every year. The goddess will be decorated only in flowers during special occasions. Ailment resolution- people who are trying to conceive have had fruitful results post following n rituals here, ask the priest for the details on procedures to follow, also any other wishes you do make here is said to come true.

This beautiful temple must be visited if traveling between Udupi and Honnavara. The local people have a strong belief in the presiding goddess Shri Amruteshwari devi. No waiting period for darshan. The temple is situated in a almost busy market area. The vehicle parking area is 100 metres down the road from the temple. The idol of goddess Amruteshwari is facing west. A small distinct temple enshrined by Shri Veebhadra is attached to this temple complex and is facing east.

I have been visiting the temple since childhood and has been a place of strong belief and worship. The temple is clean, peaceful and not so crowded on a weekday. There are good seva options. Parking facility is good nearby, easily accessible. There are good Pooja item stores and a veg restaurant nearby.

Priests are very good and helpful. They do all pooja with genuine interest. Goodness is powerful and temple is having interesting history and good hear from priests only. There's a dedicated 4W parking lot, a few meters away from the temple. Please don't park your 4W in front of the temple, as roads are very narrow.
