It is one of the Best Shrines of our lady, you can feel the spirituality and healing touch. I went during Easter time and the shrine was bustling. People from all walks of life from different denominations come and visit and pray, even stay there. There is a lot to see you can even buy holy oil, candles. They accept donations of various items ranging from precious ornaments to clothes, to special intentions. Morning is the right time to visit as the sun rises in the east towards the beach the Basilica shines.

A beautiful Church and place of pilgrimage, where people from all over the country come to pay homage to Mother Mary the Mother of Christ. The church is very beautiful and well maintained. A peaceful and blessed place of worship for Catholics and people of all communities. Had an opportunity to visit this church with my family and will definitely make another trip sometime soon.

Divine and holy place. Well maintained with security everywhere. Wonderful architecture and amazing designs. Prayers with faith in Mary are heard. They have stalls with books, holy articles like rosaries, holy oil, holy water etc. Thousands of pilgrims visit the church every day. You need 1 day to visit all the shrines at Velankani. Weekends are mostly crowded. Hence I would suggest that you visit during the week days. Must visit in your lifetime. The sea shore is close by. Pilgrim accommodations are available, Also lot of hotels are available near the church. Parking and toilet facilities are available and maintained well. Mamma Mary pray for us 🙏.

Very spiritual church to visit. Only place is surroundings were mask is mandatory to enter due to covid-19. Crowds are managed well. Pro-tip: visit the church behind, it is the oldest one. Interiors are different as well.

I've visited this Church quite a number of times. I try to visit it every year and have been there over 10 times. Its quite a miraculous and powerful church. Many with various issues come to pray at this church and to offer their special petitions. On a personal note my family has been blessed and looked after by Our Lady of Velankanni since the day we started coming to this church. This is a must visit for anyone regardless of their faith.

The mother Mary can cure any health issues, if you pray with truthfulness. That's why mother Mary is also named as lady of Health.

We went there on 28 Jan. The Basilica of Our Lady of Good Health, commonly known as the Velankanni Church, is a renowned pilgrimage site located in Velankanni, Tamil Nadu, India. It is dedicated to the Virgin Mary and is known for its healing powers and miracles attributed to her. The basilica is a significant religious and cultural landmark, attracting millions of pilgrims and tourists every year. The church’s origins are traced back to a series of miraculous events in the 16th century. It consists of three shrines - the main shrine, the Our Lady’s Tank shrine, and the Church of the Holy Rosary. The architecture of the basilica is a blend of various styles, including Gothic and Romanesque elements. The annual feast of Our Lady of Good Health, also known as the Velankanni Festival, is a major event, drawing large crowds from different parts of India. The basilica and the surrounding area have become a symbol of faith and hope for many devotees.

During my visit to the Basilica of Our Lady of Good Health in Vailankanni, India, I was truly awe-inspired by the spiritual atmosphere and the sheer beauty of this sacred place. As I approached the basilica, its stunning architecture came into view, with its intricate details and soaring spires. The sense of reverence among the pilgrims was palpable, and I couldn't help but feel a deep sense of serenity wash over me. Inside the basilica, the atmosphere was hushed, filled with the soft murmurs of prayers and the flickering candles. The image of Our Lady of Good Health stood at the altar, radiating a sense of comfort and hope. I lit a candle and offered my own prayers, joining the countless others who sought solace and healing in this sacred space. Outside the basilica, I explored the beautiful surroundings, which included well-maintained gardens and pathways. The entire area was alive with a sense of devotion and a strong connection to the divine. It was evident that the Basilica of Our Lady of Good Health held a special place in the hearts of those who visited, and I left with a profound sense of peace and a renewed faith in the power of faith and spirituality.

This is one beautiful and peacefully place to visit. People say that this is a very powerful basilica and as the name says people belive this place as the place of good health. Right now due to covid visitors are not allowed to sit inside for prayers. There are also good places to eat around. And a beach within the walking distance.

The Church gives us peaceful vibes! It will always be crowded, people from all over the country visit here. The Architecture of the Church was amazing! The surroundings of the Church was also neat. They receive donations in the form of money as well as sarees. They have separate hundis for that inside the Church. The holy mass is being done in English, Tamil and Malayalam. The only con is they don't have benches or chairs to accommodate visitors. The security persons didn't allow even the elderly persons to sit on the steps.

The place is well maintained , and the whites of the church make it a site to adore. The place is large and the crowd is floating , so it doesn't seem too crowded. We were suggested to visit the old church which can be reached by a small walkway from this church. It can be reached by car as well. Car parking space is huge and free.

One of the amazing and great infrastructure in shrines category. The architecture of the church and inside paintings are simply mind blowing. This place consists of more than 6+ church shaped structures which are clean and white gives a good view. I visited during night time and it is more beautiful than morning during night. The lighting’s and colours of lights gives more beauty to the buildings and walls. Thousands of people visit here on daily basis and shrine room bookings would be full every time. Better book rooms earlier before reaching there or you can get many private hotel rooms around this area. This is more than 6 and half hours far from Chennai and around 2 and half fat from Pondicherry. Better book the bus before going as RTC buses take a very long time and no direct buses to here from Pondicherry. Overall this is an amazing place with churches, good atmosphere, Jesus statute and different idols of Mother Mary.

Miracles happened to us from the time we entered the church premises, felt the presence & grace of Mother Mary & Jesus, pray with faith. Need atleast 2 days to go around pray & relax, lots of good shops in the premises & on the way to the beach which are pocket friendly, food you need to check for right hotels, accomodations are in plenty all around the place based on your budget. Even inside the church premises. Morning sunrise is a not to miss scenery.

Divine place! You will feel it here... lot of positive vibes, prayers get answers! Good time to visit are anytime other than 10 am - 4 pm, coz, it's extremely hot at this time most of the year (Mar - Sep). Get your summer gears such as sunglasses, hat or Cap, umbrella, etc.

Really had a great spiritual experience visiting at Mary’s Basilica. It’s really crowded don’t complain because every body coming here is to get a glimpse of at Mary and pray so bear the crowd, cleanness , heat and all other hardship you may come across during our worship.

The Basilica of Our Lady of Good Health, also known as Sanctuary of Our Lady of Vailankanni, is a Marian shrine located at the small town of Velankanni in Tamil Nadu, South India. The Roman Catholic Latin Rite Basilica is dedicated to Our Lady of Good Health. Devotion to Our Lady of Good Health of Velankanni can be traced back to the mid-16th century, and is attributed to three separate miracles at the sites surrounding the Basilica: The apparition of Blessed Mary and the Christ Child to a slumbering shepherd boy, the healing of a handicapped buttermilk vendor, and the rescue of Portuguese sailors from a deadly sea storm. These accounts are oral lore with no written record or attested sources to support them. Initially, only a simple and modest chapel was built by the Portuguese sailors who washed ashore safely. More than 500 years later, the nine-day festival and celebration is still observed and draws nearly 5 million pilgrims each year. The Shrine of Our Lady of Vailankanni is also known as "the Lourdes of the East" because it is one of the most frequented pilgrimage centres in India.

The Basilica looks great from the outside. No words can describe its beauty. One stands mesmerized at the white colored Church attracting faithful followers from all denominations of Christianity and other religions too. One should not miss the masses here. At 10 am, they have an English mass, and they list out the mass timings for other languages, on big blue boards. Basilica of Our Lady of Good Health, has a certain feeling to it, that only faithfuls can understand. From the inside, it might look different from the Churches in other parts of India. The ceilings have lot of paintings from Jesus's life- worth noticing.

We probably had the shortest stay ever for anyone visiting Velankanni. We stopped the car here for just a few minutes at night on our way to Tranquebar. Was surprised to see the number of hotels on the way to the church after a long drive through small roads with hardly even a shop on the way. The church itself looked grand

Visiting Our Lady's Basilica in Velankanni was a profound experience. The air was filled with fervent prayers as pilgrims, from all walks of life, sought solace and healing. The intricate architecture and the serene ambiance intensified the spiritual journey. Witnessing the devotion, lighting a candle, and participating in the rituals left an indelible mark. The Basilica's significance and the stories of miraculous interventions added a sense of awe. It wasn't just a physical journey; it was a connection to something larger, a testament to faith's power. Our Lady's Basilica stands as a timeless beacon, echoing the echoes of countless heartfelt prayers.
