Pradesh
At
the
holy
confluence
of
river
Kaveri
and
Narmada,
for
the
salvation
of
the
human,
Shri
Omkareshwar
who
is
self-manifested,
always
sitting
in
the
city
of
Mandhata,
is
the
Jyotirlinga.
Omkareshwar
Jyotirlinga
of
Lord
Shiva
is
situated
at
a
distance
of
77
km
from
Indore
on
the
banks
of
river
Narmada
in
Madhya
Pradesh.
Here
the
river
Narmada
divides
into
two
parts
to
form
an
island
called
Mandhata
or
Shivpuri.
The
shape
of
this
island
is
similar
to
the
visual
representation
of
Om
or
Omkar.
The
main
temple
of
Omkareshwar
is
made
of
North
Indian
architecture
with
high
spire.
This
temple
is
the
main
attraction
of
the
visitors.
The
temple
has
a
huge
assembly
hall
which
is
about
14
feet
high
and
is
based
on
60
huge
pillars.
The
temple
has
5
floors
in
total
and
different
deities
are
installed
on
all.
Regularly
3
pujas
are
performed
daily
in
the
temple,
morning
puja
is
performed
by
the
trust,
afternoon
puja
is
performed
by
the
priest
of
Scindia
Gharana
and
evening
puja
is
performed
by
the
priest
of
Holkar
State.
Here
people
go
to
worship
the
bhagwan
after
taking
a
bath
in
the
Narmada
river.
Aarti
of
Maa
Narmada
river
is
performed
here
at
some
ghats
in
the
evening,
as
well
as
there
is
a
feeling
that
one
should
come
here
and
circumambulate
the
Narmada
river.
