My recent boating experience on Venna Lake in Mahabaleshwar was nothing short of magical. Surrounded by the lush greenery of the Western Ghats and accompanied by the gentle breeze, the lake offered a serene and tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life. The boating options at Venna Lake cater to different preferences, ranging from paddle boats to rowboats, and even small motorboats. I opted for a traditional rowboat to enjoy a leisurely pace and immerse myself fully in the breathtaking scenery around me. The boat was well-maintained and equipped with life jackets, ensuring safety during the ride. In conclusion, the boating experience on Venna Lake was a delightful journey into nature's embrace. It's an ideal activity for travelers seeking a tranquil and scenic escape amidst Mahabaleshwar's natural wonders. Whether you're a nature enthusiast, a romantic couple, or a family looking for quality time together, the serene bliss of Venna Lake will not disappoint.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY. This establishment is an utter waste of your hard-earned money. It offers no enjoyable experiences whatsoever. Beware of numerous deceitful individuals eager to take advantage of unsuspecting visitors with exorbitant charges for boating excursions that lead nowhere but a mere 200 meters on the lake. Even the government booth for boating charges is implicated in this deceitful scheme. The displayed rates for paddling appear to be 400₹, but that price is only applicable if you embark on the journey alone. If you opt for a rowing boat and share it with another couple, they will demand 600₹ for one hour/couple, while an additional 200₹ is required for a driver should you prefer not to operate the boat yourself. Do not be tempted by the idea of steering the boat on your own, as it may initially seem enjoyable, but you will quickly find yourself exhausted from the strenuous task of rowing and paddling against the current. There are no entertaining elements to enhance the boating experience here. Moreover, the stalls located outside are outrageously overpriced. An ice cream cone that would cost a mere 20₹ in the city is shamelessly marked up to 50₹ by a vendor peddling his wares from a bicycle.

It was good location but overrated. Plus they cheat you for your money. We got a boat for one hour and the we got to do boating for hardly half hour. They tell you something and charge you something. Life jacket is a joke. They are torn or completely damaged. Plus they will let you take it out once the boat is in the lake sailing. Above all that, why would someone throw plastic wrappers and water bottles everywhere at such beautiful place? Horse riding is 200 per round. I would say the price was ok for that. Mahabaleshwar market to this lake is not too far, but taxi would charge you 100 one way. Local ST bus will charge merely 10 rupees one way. Taxi service is too costly I would say and it was not professional too.

Beautiful lake in Mahabaleshwar. Too much crowd in weekdays also. Must try corn , potato spring, bass Pao . Boating waiting time is too much . May be 2-3 hours if summer vacation time . They charges. 400 for half an hour for row boat , if you drive your self . If you would like to take helper you have to pay 200 extra. For pedal boating. Also. 400- 800

There r 2 types of boat rides- 1. 30 min riding- cost 1200 per boat.(if number of people are more than 4 extra charges are applicable). 2. 1 hour riding- cost 2400 per boat. You get to see the scenic beauty of the lake along with the fog and lots of greenery. Must visit. ( Self rowing boats are available throughout the year except during monsoon season.)

Nice place to spend the evening. You can stroll around or simply sit on the river bank enjoy watching the sun set. Horse and boat rides are usually crowded during weekends/holidays. Do try the corn 🌽 roasted over charcoal.

Paddle boating is great! It also feels safe and best part you get to paddle it yourself. Also if you are with your family members especially bros and siss one can enjoy a lot 😁 The view of lake is great and also horse riding is available at the entry. Also a lot of shops are present in that area. Feels awesome to be in lake enjoying the view ✌️

A nice place to visit in winter is quite clean, and boating has two different price ranges, with or without a driver. Prices with a driver are 600 for a half round and 1200 for a full round. The maximum number of people who can go is 6-7. Paddle boats are available

Perfect place for boating and horse riding. They have two boating options: 1. 1200 Per Boat (half an hour) 2. 600 Per Boat(this is a paddle boat and timing is half an hour) In front of this lake, many street food outlets are there. With the chilled weather you can enjoy Maggie, Chaat and other street food. The best time to visit this place in the evening and winter season. Based on the tourist season, this place will be crowded as this is one of the attractions of the Mahabaleshwar. Overall: Must recommended. Don't miss this place while you're visiting.

If you want to have a peaceful boating experience, be there around 9.30am and get a ticket. Price is ₹500/hr/6person for rowing boat which is nice I'd say. Don't take paddle boat until you are in a group of 4 people and all willing to do some paddling and want to fry in sun, I went with a rowing boat so they sent a guy who will row and we'll just sit in boat shade. Winds were really nice as of mid November 2020. Just be there early, cannot emphasize this enough

😊***Venna lake is one of the most popular tourist point of Mahabaleshwar. And at Venna Lake, boating is the most popular activity amongst others like horse riding, horse jump, eating Corn, gola, etc. ***There is paddle boating which is for rs. 600 for 1 hour. This is best if you are a family of 4 or 6. ***There is a rowing boat option which is dine by their people for rs. 400 for 30 mins. There is a full long route which is for rs. 1200 Ideal time to go here is during Sun set so that you can take beautiful photos but the trade off is go at other times and you done have to wait in line for tickets. Jackets are compulsory and administration could have been better. If you are in your own car, try to get in the gate between the horses and get a slot which is available at the earliest else it is difficult to get one. Overall a good experience.

Beautiful boating experience. Best time to visit is between 11 to 3 as there is maximum visibility. You can get both types of boats, with pedal or rowing. One has to go around the Lake in 1 hour otherwise you are charged extra. But the view and the experience as serene. Highly recommended. Water is crystal clear and waves hit the boats which creates a beautiful experience.

Oh the view was really nice. I went in summer so water was low but yet not too much low. We saw dry dead trees that doesn't grow any leaves as it gets submerged when it rains. The view of forest around and also there is Hanuman temple that boatman will show. I would personally recommend to go either in morning or during afternoon as in evening it gets crowded and view is more clear and looks great in daylight than during dusk or night. Also don't take a short round, purchase ticket of long round, price is little bit more (it's not costly though) but it's worth it. I hope you enjoy view and experience 😄😃

It's a beautiful lake at high altitude. weather always cold, enjoy boating, food, horse riding and other games here. A reasonable good place. However, the Mahabaleshwar Municipal Corporation should plant more trees in the area. Tends to dry & barren.

Venna Lake is a scenic manmade lake in Mahabaleshwar of Maharashtra state. I went there in last week of May, 2022 with my family. On this lake rowboating and pedal boating facilities are available on chargeable basis. It is one of nice tourist attraction center of Mahabaleshwar. For boat ride timing is 9 am to sunset, everyday ; Peak Time: After 4:00 PM, usually very crowded therefore plan your visit to avoid hardship. All local fruits as mulberries, strawberries, carrots and foods are available near the lake. You can also enjoy horse ride here. It's wonderful place for photography. Must visit with your family, kids and friends. Vehicle parking is available here.

A perfect place for boating, horse riding and spending an evening with loved ones. as the lake water is used for drinking purposes there is no speed or motor boats are available. You will get a paidal boat only. Although while paying for a boat ride it mentioned 400 ₹for a 1 hour, but in actuality the boat rider gives a ride of 30min only. The scenery is really good.

It is beautiful lake no doubt in that.. enjoyed the boat ride Few points to remember - 1. Avoid holiday and weekend 2.Try to reach as early as possible to avoid the crowd 3. Book online ticket if possible to avoid queue 4. Ample of parking available near by but will still recommend to avoid crowd timing

Lake is very nice and surrondef by rich green mountains. Water is clean. There are paddle and rowing boats. Rowing boat can be rowed by self also. However rower can be hired. Charges are per boat basis and not very high. Paid parking is available. Horse riding is also available. Snacks are available roadside. Place is over crowded on holidays. Toilet facility poor.

The lake is pretty, and the person hired to ride the boat was friendly. The cost is 600Rs for half an hour if you want a sailor. 400Rs if you take the one with peddling.

Embarking on a delightful boating adventure at Venna Lake was a highlight of my visit. Opting for a pedal boat, I eagerly set sail across the tranquil waters, immersing myself in the serenity that surrounded me. The rental cost of 600 for an hour felt like a small investment for the priceless experience that awaited. As I pedaled gently, the rhythmic movement of the boat merged seamlessly with the calm ambiance of the lake. The reflections of the lush greenery mirrored on the water's surface, creating a symphony of nature's hues. The air carried a refreshing breeze, enhancing the overall sense of tranquility. Navigating through the lake, I discovered hidden corners and picturesque nooks that added an element of surprise to the journey. The hour-long excursion felt like a blissful escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. It provided a perfect opportunity to unwind, surrounded by the soothing sounds of nature and the gentle lapping of water against the boat. Venna Lake, with its idyllic setting, proved to be an oasis of calm. The experience of pedaling across its pristine waters not only invigorated my senses but also etched fond memories of a serene boating escapade. The nominal cost was a small price to pay for the priceless moments of peace and tranquility I found on the shimmering expanse of Venna Lake.

Mahabaleshwar is a small town and a municipal council in Satara district, Maharashtra, India. It is a place of pilgrimage for Hindus because the Krishna river has its origin here. The British colonial rulers developed the town as a hill station, and served as the summer capital of Bombay Presidency during the British Raj. A lake called Venna lake was constructed in 1842 to collect water from perennial springs. The Venna river flows from this lake. It is the most popular tourist place among all the visitors to Mahabaleshwar...

Beautiful lake in Mahabaleshwar. one can do Boating, Horse Riding 250 for 30 Mins or 500 for 1 hour for Row Boat (Max 7 persons) 440 for 1 hour for Peddle Boat (Max 6 persons) Timings: 8 am to 8 pm daily.

  • 2/5 Kavita K. 3 years ago on Google
The lake itself is beautiful. However the surrounding has been completely ruined. Shops, vendors ugly looking rides for children with a scant regard for aesthetics has completely spoilt the charm of what used to be a wonderful area for a lakeside stroll and one could sit at the lakeside and enjoy its beauty.

Heavily crowded on weekends. Please try to visit on week days. Beautiful experience and serene view. Undoubtedly one of the tourist attraction while visiting Mahabaleshwar

There were two options - 1) No Entry Fee 2) 250 for 30 Mins or 500 for 1 hour for Row Boat (Max 7 persons) 3) 440 for 1 hour for Peddle Boat (Max 6 persons) Note: Boating club is open till sunset only I took the paddled one and there was nothing to do, just boat around here and there, there was a bit of turbulence in water which made navigating a bit harder but all in all a fun experience.

A very pleasant experience of boating with near-dear ones. We opted for a paddle boat.it wasn't closed and you have to do the paddling. Very cost effective. In case you don't want to do the paddling, than they have the rowing boat which is covered and someone else does the rowing. But I personally liked the paddling experience.. it wasn't that tiring or even difficult. For one hour, we paid 500 with 500 deposit. The lake is really big one and one hour might even seem short to roam the circumference. Even at noon, the climate was very pleasant. They give jackets which are sprayed after very use. At entrance temperature check and masks are a must. At eve it very crowded. All in all a must visit when in mahableshwar.

Literally looting people's money by not providing exact pricing till they reach ticket counter after being in queue for almost an hour. Beware tickets are just for boat or paddle boat which you have to row or paddle they do not mention this anywhere and later you hv to pay extra 200 for rower. If you still feel rowing by yourself they ask for 500 deposit which they later refuse to pay back with unreasonable answers like time n scratches or anything senseless resons. 2 star just for the facility and lake.

Venna Lake not only happens to be one of the most beautiful and scenic lakes in Mahabaleshwar, but it also happens to serve a lot of other purposes as well. It  is the main source of water for the nearby township. It is considered to be one of the most loved attractions of Mahabaleshwar. The place is jam-packed with lush greenery and scenic picturesque beauty. Shri Appasahed Maharaj who was once the ruler of Satara and happens to be a descendant of the famous Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, built the Lake. Venna Lake is constructed artificially over an area of 28 acres. The periphery of the lake is about 7-8 km long. The lake was built in the initial days to provide the nearby township with a source of water and cater to their day-to-day needs. This lake is not only famous among tourists but it is also famous among pilgrims. About one-third of the lake is meant for pilgrimage. The lake offers amazing boating facilities and horse rides to the tourists. Venna Lake has a lot to offer to nature lovers as well. The lake is surrounded by lush green Chhatrapati Pratapsinh gardens. If you want to spend your evening in a peaceful setting of the adjacent Chhatrapati Pratapsinh garden, you can come to this place and take part in a number of activities as well as relish the local food in more than a few nearby food joints.
