We started the trekking at 5 am early morning to avoid getting exhausted in the sun. Ensure you carry torch with you to avoid draining your mobile battery as it’s pitch dark in the forests Other tip would be prefer travelling with a big group who know what to do and how to get you to the top It is One of the most thrilling yet terrifying experiences I have ever had. This place is not for faint hearted like me yet I did it and boy do I not cherish it . From climbing the sloppy mountain to Repelling everything was deadly but fun. The Group @Maharashtra_Desha I travelled with ensured our safety to the best Words don’t do justice when we speak about nature and you must just go and witness it yourself 🌴⛰️🙌🏼💙💜💫

One of the most hyped place of Maharashtra for technical climb. Loved the place had fun and made the whole trek adventures by not entering the mountain through the local or commercial trail. If you ever try to enter from a different route then you'll better be prepared for much more technical climb compare to bhairavghad.

Technical. We went for Rock climbing. Will suggest to start a little early than usual. It's exactly 3.1Km till the point where a small shelter is made after the plateau. After that, it's 500 meters till a point where routes bifurcate. Left one will take you to the stairs and top eventually. Water sources available at this point. Look for a small cave. Right path will take you to climbing patch. It's very tricky. Be careful.

It took 3 hours to reach actual base of bhairavgad fort from Highway hotel. Suggest to climb with safety equipment , without equipment it is very risky to climb on the fort. From base station to it took 20 minutes to Climb on the top.

Beautiful place to visit during late monsoon/winter. View from the top is amazing... as if we're above the cloud. It is one of the places where you realise how calm and beautiful the nature is. The climb requires some rock climbing expertise OR safety equipments. If you don't have either of them, please stay away otherwise could prove to be very lethal.

Bhairavgad is one of the most thrilling and adventurous trek in Sahyadri. I went for Bhairavgad trek with Ba-Raigad group , this was my solo experience with them and I really appreciate the support and patience of our Trek This fort is consist of hang over point and many difficult stiffs but all trek leads were so friendly and they guided very nicely. This trek is risky for beginner and average trekker but Ba-Raigad group provided all safety equipments so we did it easily. On descend we did rappelling and it was wonderful experience .. Bhairavgad is one of the most thrilling treks in Malshej region. It was a strategic outpost to keep watch around Naneghat-Jivdhan Trade and Kalyan-Junnar Trade Route. To reach top of Bhairavgad one has pass through criss cross ridges and jungle path. Once you reach the plateau, we see a small Bhairavnath temple under huge tree. After making way through Karvi and loose mud (scree), one has to climb rock cut steps. After climbing few steps towards top they suddenly seem to disappear. From there on it is the serious foot and palm rock climb. One should have proper rock climbing grear- helmet- harness- ropes- carabiner. After reaching at the top of the dyke one can witness breath taking views of Alang, Madan, Kulang, Harishchandragad, Rohida, Naneghat, Jivdhan peaks and plateus. Climbing down is even more challenging. Rappelling down from the rock is the best bet. Once one manages to climb down the main rock - dyke, the rest of the descent is manageble but for a couple of trickey patches There are no remains on the fort summit. While going towards the citadel (dyke) from the summit we come to the base of the citadel. There is a water tank here on the upper side of the path. To the right of the water tank there is a crescent shaped cave which can be accessed only by technical means of climbing. After circumventing the citadel from its east side we come in the cleft between Bhairavgad and the adjoining hill. Rock cut steps on the citadel can be seen from here. After climbing about 50 steps we come to a rock cut cave which has to be entered by crawling. This cave is 4X2X8 in size and is closed by four sides. Only the upper part at 5 feet height has been cut in a crescent shape. On one of its wall there are holes made to fix wooden rods for building a shelter. The steps after the caves have been devastated and the 150 ft rock patch has to be climbed using ropes to reach another set of rock cut steps which has steep valley on one side and rock patch to the other. There is a dried up water tank to the left here. Proceed upwards by the left route and here is another dried up water tank. A path from here passes through shrubs and thorny cactus to the top most point of the fort which is spread East-West direction. Naneghat to Harishchandragad region can be seen from the top. Ways To Reach : Reach Moroshi village on the Mumbai-Kalyan-Murbad-Malshej ghat route. Moroshi is next to Vaishakhare village which is the drop point for Naneghat. While going towards Malshej ghat from Moroshi village there is a police check post and a restaurant named Jay Malhar. To the opposite of this restaurant a path goes in the jungle. In 10 minutes on this route we reach a dried up stream. From here take the left path and start ascending the hill. After crossing two hills we reach a flat plateau area where another route intersects. After crossing one more level we reach the fort summit. From the base to the summit it takes about 2-2:30 hours to reach and further to reach the citadel/dyke it takes another 30-45 minutes. To circumvent the east edge of the dyke and reach the cleft takes about 20 minutes. Accommodation Facility : Overnight stay could be possible in Moroshi village or the restaurants on the highway for a nominal charge Food Facility : Food can be ordered at the local houses in Moroshi village and local restaurants. Drinking Water Facility : The water tank at the base of the citadel has water throughout the year. However, one is advised to carry at least 2 ltrs of water

A trek worth remembering. Not fit for beginners & people light of heart. When I say not for beginners it's because there is around 15 km of walking on inclined surface (at times a 90 degree inclination) in addition to places where hardly a person can stand & there's a valley staring back. Also at 2-3 points it's difficult to climb up directly. Being of smaller height I had to leap at a point relying on my harness & instructor. The fort itself is very small hardly 15-20 feet wide at certain points. Not much to see at the summit apart from the beauty of Sahyadri's. 😉 Lastly you can come down by rappelling which is a great experience.

I did this trek almost a decade back, it is one of the toughest out of the treks I did. One has to climb on narrow route continuously looking at deep valley which is almost 90 degree vertical. Might not be difficult for the pros or experts but definitely a tough one for people new to trek.

Breathtaking views with an exciting hike. I went here during the end of the summer. The morning temperatures dropped as low as 7°C but then it was as hot as 44°C in the afternoon. We did the Ghanchakkar trek here. The hike is beautiful with a temple on the top. The temple is built inside a cave and has a wonderful idol inside. We got to saw fireflies early in the morning. Half the hike is without any assistance while half is with steps and railings. Once you climb up you can continue walking ahead but that is where the difficulty is. The walk is deceivingly long but a great hike. Do carry a lot of water with you as the temperatures can get really hot here.

Trek through dense forest, beautiful view. need good shoes and strong stick because some patches are very slippery. carry plenty of water from moroshi, on the way and on Bhairavgad no water source in winter and in summer. there is bad patch to climb so carry atleast 7 meter good rope for safety.

Not for beginners choice! People who have experience in treks or hikes can enjoy. It's really tough at the place of land slide which happened recently and when it's raining I always ask to change the plans and stay away. But the rest is js amazing, the scenic beauties and sepcially the challenges will get the best out of you!! Don't try without the trek guide and the equipment required. Need to carry min. 2L water per head and snacks / energy bars will be helpful for few. Finally - I just loved it to complete it with my squad, so don't forget to go with your squad!

It is a nice place, it was used as a watch tower to keep an eye on the trade route. You can park the vehicle on the bhairavgadh hotel. From there there is a short trek of around 1 and half hour to the base of Bhairavgadh. I will strongly advice to come with a good trekking group or to hire a local guide who will help to cross the 2 risky patches while climbing. It is not very tall, not very dangerous, but you have to do this if you love to trek. I had this on my bucket list since long was very happy to get here. Carry water and food, you will fing nothing after that hotel parking. Keep trekking. Stay safe.

Just wow !!!! I did this trek in monsoon (July 2023) and it's a little risky. We hired a guide from manucha dhaba at the main entry point of bhairavgad. Without a trek guide it is not recommended to do

We had a breathtaking experience. And had a very good Trek with TIB team. We had a lot's of fun with proper gear and equipment's. Be safe while climbing the mountain. Proper Trek Shoes are recommended with good grip. And ensure other GEARS & SAFETY EQUIPMENT also for climbing before hand. Have a safe trek we loved a lot. And if you r planning to go there in Summer please carry LOADS OF WATER with you because there is no availability of water on the mountain.... though there is one shop in the middle but sometimes he doesn't keep water so carrying water will be safer for you and also try to SAVE WATER FOR THE RETURN journey because while climbing you are relaxed but while descending you require more energy so be safe. And also while climbing/descending be aware of ( keep an eye on) Falling Rocks. Have a safe Trek.

Moroshicha Bhairavgad is located near malshej ghat and is one of the most adventure Treks. Moroshicha Bhairavgad is a prominent fort which rises steeply from konkan range making it a difficult and tricky fort to climb. The base village of Moroshicha Bhairavgad is Moroshi. While travelling from Malshej ghat one can clearly see sharp wall like pinnacle separated from main range near Moroshi. The top of Moroshicha Bhairavgad is created by the geological structure known as a dyke and the final stage on the rock mass is very fascinating. Moroshicha Bhairavgad happens to be only fort built on a dyke making it a must see wonder for trekkers. Moroshicha Bhairavgad must have been very important as it holds very strategic location. Water tank at east side is also subject of study, how to preserve the water which is draining from the hill.
