Driving down the road after having to give the elephant sanctuary a miss ( I was broke ) I stumbled upon the sign for the natin spicy garden. As soon as I pull up the owner, Pete, enthusiastically invites me to join him on a tour around the mystical garden. The next hour is passed by in a dizzying flash of plant names, smelling citrus leaves, and batting away mosquitoes, but it is the best hour of my day in Ao Nang. Pete is extremely knowledgeable about all the plants in his garden - of which there are over a thousand different species - and he is also extremely funny. Please do give this garden a visit and drop a tip in his tip jar.

Interest for adults, but children don't listen, only funny at the place. It is no big garden, you need no more a hour for visit. Open time 9-12, 13-16. Only garden. There aren't restorant, relax zone, foodshop... My be because free entrance 😀 Remember about tip for good old gardener.

Owner of this place is older gentleman whos very pleasant and tells information about plants and is happy to answer all questions in good english. If you are little bit geek and interested to know how spicies and other plants work in making food etc this is unique opportunity to get information. Have to say it was one of surprising and best experience at two weeks Thailand trip. Free entry but you can give a tip! We used here about 1,5hr.

Definitely recommend visiting this garden. The owner, Piet, is extremely knowledgeable as has a background in pharmacology. All types of plants from those that can feed and those that can kill. Always an enjoyable experience to learn something new and a nice change from the traditional tourist outings.

Large garden of food and medicinal plants. Many different varieties. Lots of butterflies when though the gardener says his garden is not meant them. The gardener is very knowledgeable. It is worth it to go when he does tours. I learned several things about plants. I also got to see what some of the plants I use regularly look like.

A really lovely garden with a large array of [medicinal] plants. I was shown round by the friendly owner, who definitely knows his stuff! A great way to spend an hour to learn about various tropical plants.

Brilliant! Learnt so much. The owner was lovely and showed us around, talked about all the plants and what they are used for. This is a must visit if you want to get away from all the tourists and chaos. Easy ride on a scooter. Leave a donation as it's well deserved.

I'm so glad we discovered this place! It is one of the highlights during our trip in Thailand. The tour is a must because the stories and the facts about the plants are what this garden is all about. I'm still quite blown away by Pete's (the gardner and retired pharmacist) passion to share his knowledge with the public. Quite inspiring. The entrance is free but it's definitely worth the money you'd pay at a botanical garden.

This was a beautiful little tour. The owners passion for the garden and its plants truly made the tour special. I recommend this place even if you aren't interested in plants or biology

Visited when I was looking for something to do to kill a couple of hours in the afternoon. Turned up alone and I was the only person there visiting, but the owner made me feel very welcome, chatting to me and even offering mosquito spray and antihistamines for my bites. He was extremely knowledgeable and gave me an in-depth tour of the 1000s of plants he had in his garden, even taking parts of plants to allow me to smell them and touch them. A very unique and personal experience that has become one of my favourite parts of my visit to ao nang.

Very informative tour of a retired pharmacists garden. What an amazing collection of plants and knowledge about them. The owner took a lot of time to explain things and interact with our children.

Called in here as we were staying near by. The owner is really friendly and very knowledgeable on the different plants in his garden. If you are interested in plants this really is an enjoyable way to spend a few hours. The owners name is Piet and he give the tours for free which shows his enthusiasm in this field. It’s nice to leave a donation thought for his time and the garden.

A garden for the experience, not for a picture on Instagram. If you like gardening or plants in general, you'll love this. Get a tour of the garden and smell taste and learn. And it's all out of passion, without charge. If you, like me, feel it's worth paying for there is a tip box provided.

Really interesting garden and the owner has such passion and walked us through his collection and we learnt lots. A must if you have any interest in gardening but do spray as we were a smorgasbord for the mossies and other biting lovelies.

It is a must go, the garden was made by an old man with love and passion for spices. One trip you will never forget. Go while still can. I went there and was amazed by his (life)work.

If you ever stay nearby, you should most definitely visit the Spicy Garden. My girlfriend and I stopped by and the owner offered to show us around. He is and old pharmacist who knows everything about plants and he is an extremely warm, funny and welcoming person. I personally learned a lot during my visit. The owner even offered us medicine for mosquito bites and we got to smell and taste some of the many plants and fruits he had in his garden.
