Brilliant. Everyone needs to support this place. They purchase elderly elephants to make sure they can grow old in comfort. Each elephant eats 2 tonnes of food a day and costs $50,000 for them to buy from loggers and farmers... so they really need your help. ** bring a costume, towel, and plastic packet. You WILL get muddy and wet.

Fantastic place!! They offer pickup service at your hotel and bring you to the sanctuary. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. You get to feed the elephants, do mudbath with them and wash them in a pond. You also get fresh fruits, fresh coconut, cakes and water. You can bring your own camera but there are two staff members that take photos for you. A true experience to be remembered for a lifetime. This is a sanctuary so the elephants don't work and you can not ride them. They are very well cared for.

Very nice sharing with the elephants and their masters, the baby elephants are raised with their mee and Rémi in the wild to do, it's very good

The best care for elephants! I can only recommend this great half day experience! Thank you for all your care of the elephants! We paid 2500 baht for half a day with the elephants, which is a very nice amount for what we received. First we were told about the elephants, explained how to treat the elephants and then we fed the elephants and had a mud bath which the elephants really enjoyed. Small snacks and drinks are provided so no need to worry. There was a photographer with a professional camera on site the whole time who took photos and then emailed them to us :). Thank you Toilets and showers are ready for visitors.

This was one the best experiences we’ve had in Thailand! There is no elephant riding here; this is a safehaven for animals. They are very well cared for and we learned so much from this sanctuary! 10/10 :)

I have been to many elephant parks across thailand, but this one is way above any of them. From start to finish it is awsome best ever, they have a real passion for the elephants well being. Mike the guide is honest and true person, he guides you through the elephants health and well being. Truly a must visit to this place, its perfect nice to be part of this program

Tourist prey and animal cruelty without end!! The poor elephants. Attached to chains to “enjoy” tourists all day long. Anyone who goes here should be ashamed of themselves!

really enjoyed my time here! the whole experience was so worth it and the elephants were completely free the whole time. they teach you how to make protein balls for the elephants as well. the guide, bao, was funny and gave clear instructions on how to properly feed the elephants without making the elephants feel threatened. they also guide very well as they emphasise alot on safety which is important ! no animal cruelty at all and customer service was amazing!! they have photographers, who will help take great pictures for you and also provide showers, towels, flip flops and refreshments for you . you can really tell the close bond between the caretakers and the elephants which was really great and wholesome. no chains , no riding, no torture of the animals. they really acknowledge that these are animals and treat them really well instead of mistreating them. really one of my best experiences !! 100/100 would go again !!

An interesting experience with lovely guides and photographers to give us a full experience and memories for keepsake. Even though it was a half day tour, i really enjoyed my day. The elephants were nice as the guides advocated us on how to gain the elephant's trust.

You CANNOT ride elephants at the sanctuary. You shouldn’t ride elephants!! The place is a sanctuary where they care for these domesticated elephants. No hooks, no chains! The experience was really fun and educational! You feed them first to get to know each other then you give them a mud bath and then clean them off with brushes. Very hands on experience and all the guides and mahouts were wonderful. Definitely check it out if you are in Ao Nang!!

This afternoon we stayed in the Aonang Elephant Sanctuary. For us it was very important to visit and support a sanctuary that treats the elephants well. And first of all: Here in the Aonang Elephant Sanctuary the elephants are treated very well by each one. The accommodation is still quite new. At the moment they are taking care of two old lady elephants who had to work many years for their owners. However this Sanctuary is trying to rescue another third elephant with donation money. Elephants in Thailand is a complex topic and should not be part of this review. We are happy that we were able to support this project with our visit or love and or money (Most likely the best investment here in Thailand). After we arrived, we were asked to sit at a large table in front of the elephants. There our guide informed us about the elephants and their use in Thailand (complex topic) and the elephants could watch us to get a bit used to us. We were always able to ask our questions and these have been answered satisfactorily. Surprisingly, my wife and I were the only visitors in the afternoon visit. After a short introduction, we were allowed to feed the elephants, caress them and thereby gain their trust. The caretaker's contact with the elephants was always lovely. After feeding, we went for a walk on the area. The elephants followed us slowly and were allowed to rub the animals with mud, then went to bath in a pond. Both ladies have enjoyed the bath and played and sprayed with the water. To cool down, they have settled in the water. After the bath with the elephants, we could take a shower and put on our fresh clothes. After that, unfortunately, our time was over. This was by far the best activity we had during our stay in Thailand. Thanks again to the whole team. If all tourists would support elephant sanctuaries instead of elephant rides, fewer animals like these would suffer on this planet. The Aonang Elephant Sanctuary is a must for any Krabi visitor. Nowhere else you have the opportunity to get so close (physically and psychologically) to these majestic animals. If we are in Krabi again, we visit this sanctuary again, whether with or without program does not matter, the main thing is the animals and the staff are doing well and we do strongly believe that it will be like that in couple of years.

Absolutely amazing experience from learning about these beautiful animals and the way they love and care for each other. We fed them, gave them a mud bath and washed them down. A meal and photos taken during the day were included. Id do this everyday if i could. They have some merchandise on site, id advise to buy early as we nearly missed it. Love my new T shirt and it supports the Elephants.

This sanctuary is really worth a visit. Some might say this is still to much human-tourist contact for elephants but the guides really take care of them not to overwork them. We learned a lot, cooked for the elephants and had mud baths 🐘🫶🏻

Super free pick up service! Warm welcome with a bottle of water! You will first receive a detailed explanation and then you can get started! Getting to know elephants, feeding them, rubbing in mud, washing, ... . After all this you can take a shower in the well-maintained showers! Afterwards we were offered a fruit and a coconut. The photos they take are sent free of charge via WeTransfer! wow!

(Translated by Google) We had long considered which elephant protection station we should visit and then decided on this. We didn't regret it, it was a wonderful morning with close contact to the elephants. We felt that the four pachyderms that had been rescued from dire circumstances are doing really well here. Each elephant has its own supervisor, who is only there for him. This works without chains, hooks or the like. A great role model for animal protection, which unfortunately has only played a small role in Thailand so far.

The elephants were lovely, the journey was fun, lots of food was fed to the elephants, a mud bath and a surface wash. The staff can speak Chinese and are very friendly. After playing for a few hours, I was a little reluctant to leave. Those who want to take care of elephants can participate, highly recommended!

Thank you! It was the best kind of interaction with elephants. Prepare food for animals, learn how to feed them, make them mud SPA, and wash animals at the river. No riding, no chained animals. Good atmosphere! Loved it. Found them on Trip Advisor. Don't look for them at traditional travel agencies. They offer other places only.

My companion had a once-in-a-lifetime experience this March 2023. I had done a different experience in the past so I did not participate this time. The fee was 2,500 baht when you do a tour. These tours, they pick you up in a van at your hotel and they give you 3 hours of playing with, feeding and bathing the elephants. The staff were very careful about safety and there was a bit of fruit for lunch. There were showers for cleaning up after being in the mud/river. I don't have another sanctuary or elephant experience to really compare it with (mine was different) but I think this Sanctuary looks after the elephants and looks after you as a customer. The staff were great and concentrated a lot on safety because after all, they are an animal. My companion loved it and I give this particular sanctuary a four-star rating.

(Translated by Google) We could not see the elephants who appeared to be swimming with the customers who paid for them. Right next to it is an elephant trekking, it seems that some are used for that. It remains an animal business if not trekking it is tourists who want to touch the animal. Be responsible for marketing in this sector which is not intended to be altruistic but to earn money otherwise. Really awesome experience. If you are considering elephant riding and don't mind getting dirty, you should definitely come to this sanctuary instead (no riding). We got to spend time up close and personal with 3 beautiful retired elephants, all of whom were rescued from the tourism and logging industries in Thailand. The owner and staff have created and continue to expand this great home for these majestic creatures. Through the experience we got to learn about the elephants themselves and their personalities, as well as the current state of elephant welfare and exploitation in the country. You also get the chance to feed and bathe these giants as you form a bond with them. And at the end we capped it off by enjoying delicious local fruit while they enjoyed their own meals in the background. It's a great experience in a caring environment and you contribute to a good cause by participating. A win all around

This was a decent place to visit elephants but next time I think I will go somewhere that allows to elephants to move freely and not be touched by visitors. All of the elephants were swaying and bobbing in the first hour or so when being introduced and were directed to stand in one spot for that period of time. This is an obvious sign of immense distress. Honestly, my favorite part was watching them while we ate a snack from a far and make the poo poo paper :)

Spend the day with 2 wonderful gentle giants! These beautiful creatures were looked after by caring staff who were friendly and knowledgeable. I would recommend this place as they are against animal exploitation but still enable you to interact with their rescued animals. We learn about the species. We also fed and bathed the elephants, which enabled us to form a bond with these highly intelligent animals. 100% worth the money!

Wow, what an experience and best of all, it is not exploiting the animals. They have a genuine plan, they save elephants by buying them from captivity and that is not cheap. The safety of guest was always paramount with in depth, clear instructions - LISTEN and follow them to stay safe! The Elephants clearly enjoyed the interaction and we never forced to do anything. If they want to move for example, they do and the handles makes sure you get the hell out of the way, the elephants are in charge, as they should be. Awesome experience

This is my third elephant sanctuary and I like this one the most. The elephants seem to be treated well. They have great shower facilities and lockers for your belongings. Great experience for entire family, came here with 3 kids and it did not disappoint in giving us a memorable experience in Krabi. Learned a lot about elephants, including preparing their food, daily routine, mahouts, etc. 2-way pick up van service and bottled water included. The place has lockers, toilets, showers and slippers. The price may seem steep but once you get there, you will understand that the money goes to running the sanctuary and care of elephants. At the end of it all, we were served fresh sweet pineapples. Booked online and they respond very quickly thru emails.

they had a great interaction program with the elephants. the introduction by the guide was abit boring thou. would suggest they put it on a short video introduction. the elephants are trained to hang around the shelter without chains and the main road is just not too far away! but the mahouts are keeping an eye on them always. one even wander off to check out the cars and motorbikes.

Do not mistake this sanctuary for another as some comments seem to mix up another place. I've never seen an enchained elephant during our 4-hours trip. At Aonang Elephant Sanctuary, you don't ride the elephant because it's not an interesting task for them. The guide will introduce you to the world of working with elephant. He teaches a good hour of what they do at the sanctuary, why the elephant are there, how to act safely around elephant and everything you want to know. The guide was funny and friendly. You then feed them with fruits and prepare their day-to-day food as well. Afterwards it's time to wash them with mud, brush then wash them down with water. They serve fresh fruit as a snack and give you water and coffee/tea during the afternoon. We've had a pleasant time there and would recommend going.

Thank you so much for an incredible afternoon. After reading so many terrible things about the care of elephants and the tourist industry in Thailand, I left with a happy heart. It really is a sanctuary for the elephants and their caregivers. ❤️

(Translated by Google) Farm with 5 elephants. A farm with a very good and good mission - they save elephants from slavery and protect them. For tourists, it is proposed to feed the elephants, play with them, take a shower with the elephants. No abuse, no shows or elephant rides. Incredibly kind atmosphere, nice staff who explains everything and tells. Each tourist gets acquainted with the farm owner and gives a T-shirt. There is one sociopathic elephant on the farm — they saved her from abuse and she’s not yet used to people. All elephants from 22 to 47 years old are very friendly. Great place to interact with elephants. We went there by scooter because it was about 10 min away from our hotel, but they also offered pick-up and drop-off from the hotel. They have 6 elephants with ages ranging from 23 to 64 years old. You get to feed them all, make food for them, and play in the mud. All of the elephants are very calm and obedient to their mahout. Would definitely recommend going to this sanctuary.

Our day at the Elephant Sanctuary was beyond amazing! Bathing with these gentle giants was an experience of a lifetime. Not only did we have a blast playing and washing them, but we also picked up some fascinating elephant facts along the way. What made this visit even more special was the unexpected rainstorm that led us here two days prior. The staff's warm hospitality in allowing us to wait it out left a lasting impression, and we couldn't resist returning to meet the elephants we glimpsed that day. A huge shoutout to the staff for their kindness and enthusiasm. They truly made our visit exceptional. This sanctuary is a must-visit for anyone seeking a meaningful and memorable encounter with these incredible creatures! 🐘🌟 (one more amazing thing! The animals roam free! They decide where to walk and chill! No chains!! Amazing)

Superb experience with my 7 year old son today. This is a sanctuary that cares for its elephants. There are NO chains or elephant rides here. It’s a shame that people have defamed the sanctuary with their 1 star reviews below. They’re clearly reviewing the wrong elephant sanctuary. Ao Nang Elephant sanctuary is exceptional in its treatment of these beautiful animals and they give an exceptional educational experience to their visitors. I highly recommend a visit here if you’re in the Krabi area. I think my photos say it all….

We were picked up on time and taken to the sanctuary where there 4 girls (elephants) waiting for us. We got educational moments, then we all got to feed them from buckets of bananas then make and feed them protein balls. We then proceeded to cover them in mud and then bath them. We were a full group of people aprox 30 and every single person got to spend lots of time with the elephants. We were treated so well and it's great to know that there are sanctuaries out there doing this noble work. I highly recommend!!!!

Find out the truth about elephants in sanctuaries and not from the internet! No exploitation involved. A thousand year tradition of elephant and man relationship which involves utilising elephants in exchange for work and company when domesticated. Beware of these majestic beasts as injury happens but the sanctuary guide made sure everything was safe! I’d say safer than workplace safety guidelines in the NHS in the UK. We should all be supporting the amazing people ‘mahouts’ and the guides who show their years of tradition and training with these elephants to the world. Highly recommended for all tourists like us! Wear swim wear and have an extra change of clothing as it can get muddy but you can opt out of that activity if preferred - all free choice!

Ao Nang Elephant Sanctuary provides a truly exceptional experience for those looking to engage with these magnificent creatures responsibly. The activities offered are thoughtfully designed, allowing guests to partake in the elephants' daily routines in a manner that is respectful and enlightening. The tour guides are commendable for their depth of knowledge, offering insights that enhance the visitors' understanding of elephant conservation and biology. The itinerary is well-structured and engaging, with the highlight for many being the opportunity to scrub the elephants with mud—a joyous and unique way to contribute to the elephants' care. The experience is further enriched by the chance to shower with the elephants, an intimate and memorable activity that allows for a deep connection with these gentle giants. Overall, the Ao Nang Elephant Sanctuary experience is profound, leaving guests with a greater appreciation for these animals and the efforts to protect them.

Expedice for the Forst time, but after this almost 3 hours experience you will see the price as so small. So nice time with elephants, who get what they deserve! Thank for this opolrtunity!!❤️🐘❤️

Its very nice place where elephants live comfortable and happy life. Well worth the money and its also for a good cause. The sanctuary buys elephants from farms or other places where they are mistreated and gives them new life

The elephants are well cared for and absolutely respected at this sanctuary. We wanted to find a place that was truly a sanctuary (no riding) and this was it. We got to just take part in the elephants day to day rather than them being a cause for our entertainment. They were so sweet and majestic. It was our best experience in Krabi

Great for a half day trip. You spend a lot of time with the elephants, feeding them, preparing food, giving them a mud bath and then cleaning them in a small pool. You also get a lot of information about them from the english speaking guide. Afterwards you get fresh fruit and water to refresh yourself. There are also several clean toilets and showers to wash the mud and change into clean clothes.

Worst worst worst place, it's a huge scam.. It's not at all what they say and promot. They say they have two batches for visit one at 9am to 11.30am and second one from around 2pm to 5pm, but if you come in between or the "odd time" you will see these elephants are beaten up and moved to near by place where they are chained with no place to move and being trained. DO NOT SUPPORT IT.

A must for anyone visiting the Krabi area. Hands on experience with elephants. Some of our group of ten were apprehensive of going near large animals, however, the team put everyone at ease. This is a sanctuary and you feel the elephants are well looked after and appear extremely happy with their one on one keepers. Very informative, clean facilities, showers provided after the mud bath and excellent refreshments. Will visit again.

The Elephants seemed happy and could roam free. Friendly staff, good explanations, good english. Really amazing experience! You can get really close to the animals and they were all friendly and happy about the food, mud bath and swimming. Really recommend to support them because there haven't been much tourist because of COVID lately. It was only one other couple and us.

They take great care of the elephants. Please go here instead of the touristy spots that lets you ride them. You get to feed, bathe, and bond with them here. Once in a lifetime type of experience!

(Translated by Google) Great sanctuary for elephants and a great team that takes care of the elephants. Very important, the elephants do not stroke too intensely and often, after all, they are wild animals and actually not loving, although they look like them, the head explained to us. They eat a lot and the feeding, mud bathing and subsequent washing bath are great fun and pictures can and will be made sufficiently. If you go by scooter to your own company, you should consider the tour times. I was told 9, 14 and 17. If you are late, the gate is shot. Recommended for the good of the elephants.

Best experience on my vacation! Great staff and the location itself is almost brand new. 1 year old. You get to feed, mudscrup and bathe the animals. It was a wild experience and I recommend this place to everyone.

Magical animals, beautiful place and wonderful people who work there. Tour takes about 3 hours in total. You learn about elephants, get to feed and make food for them, pet and wash them. This place buys out elephants that used to be work animals and gives them a nice place to retire. From what I can tell, they seem to be treated very well. Tour includes lunch, water is provided too. Facility has showers to wash up after a mud bath with elephants. They also take tons of photos during the tour, which were emailed to us for no additional charge.

Good experience. Have a nice morning in the company of elephants and nature. Friendly team. All stress-free activities for elephants. Keepeing elephants in good healthy condition is not an easy job and it is not cheap. Support them!

Poor creatures that should be living in the forest but there is not much food left in there. Many of them are hit by cars and die painfully. This is the place where you can help support elephants to live in a safe environment, though they are chained most of the time. This is where you can feed them, spending time with them and hopefully our following generations can still see and touch them.

One of the best experience. You are not taking home just a bunch of cute social media photos. You get knowledge about elephants, you get to go through their daily routine (feed, bath). The staff is amazing, very welcoming and knowledgeable. A great experience overall.

👍👍 We had a really fun experience here. We paid 300 bhat for one bucket of food as we chose the option just to feed the elephants. 😠 One of the saddest things I’ve probably ever seen. How can the owners or staff allow this treatment is beyond me. Do they have absolutely no ethics or morals? 👍 Great tourist attraction to visit if you have spare time in Krabi. I’m glad I went but would go again. There was only 1 large fish when I went which was disappointing because I thought there would be more. But happy with the large fish I saw. Entrance fee is 50k and it included fish food.

😠 Visited this camp as part of kayaking experience with Kayak Klongroot's tour. Elephants are chained almost all day (time we could feed them), and eventually used for riding trips too. It's just cruel. Despite staff looks friendly and seemed to enjoy the time with animals I could not ignore reality....
