It is a lovely place, but as a national park, the entrance fee for foreigners is outrageous. Thai people pay 40 baht and foreigners 200 baht. There is a big parking space, a tourist center, vendors for souvenirs, food and beverage. At the left and right of the tourist center you can enter the park and go to the beaches. Here you can find beautiful fossils. I think 40 baht entrance is very reasonable, in my opinion 200 baht is too much, you can visit many beaches instead, unless you are really interested in fossils.

TOURIST SCAM! You pay around 200 BHT per person and there is nothing to see. All of the explanations are in Thai and as foreigners you can just walk the 3 Minute way and in the end have nothing in return. In addition to this, only as a foreigner you will pay 200 BHT. If you are from the region the price is 40BHT. Don’t go there !

Fantastic shell fossil on the rock. This place used to be a big fresh-water pond 40 million ago (on the sign, it said that this place is 75 millions years old but the recent finding shows that it is only 40 millions years old) it is interesting that even though it is on the shore but the fossil here is fresh-water animal. Beneath the fossil, there also is a coal as well. So nice to see. Note: you should check the sea level before coming here because if the tide is rising, there is nothing to see.

Came with my Thai family.Thai rate 40 baht, foreigner rate 200 baht. No flexibilty, wouldn't accept Thai work permit or tax payer card. It's a shame, especially at time when they are trying to encourage domestic tourism.

While it is what it says it is, the price for foreigners is too high at 200baht. We spent about 30-40 min there, and the fossils are very small, worn, or otherwise hard to see. It is very cool that it is natural, it does just look like concrete slabs. We were excited for the fossils and educational aspects of it, but there was not much to learn from that wasn’t in Thai. We thankfully did see the second viewing area before leaving which made it two stars. If we were able to pay the Thai price of 40 baht I could see it being 4 stars, and knowing it would be a quick stop.

Definitely a place to avoid !. There is nothing to see, except the beach (which is a normal beach lol). I assume that it was a trap for chinese in order to sell some souvenirs. The entrance price was 100 baths and has been ncreased to 200 bahts as there is less visitors ! Only 40 bahts for Thaï national.

I wouldn't go back. ฿400 entry fee for foreigners and ฿40 for Thais. If it was worth seeing i wouldn't mind paying....

Very cool place to kill an hour or two. The beach has sheets of 75-million year old built-up fossil that looks like it would be concrete at first glance. It's not far from Ao Nang and everything else to do in the area. There are also a plethora of souvenir shops and places to grab a drink or snack.

If you are in Krabi and have extra time this place is recommended but if you are short in Krabi then this is not worth it unless you are a real fossil lover. Here you can see two places where fossils are visible and that's it, there is no accompanying content. Entrance is charged 200 baht

Beautiful. Best for admiring the scenery and looking at tidepools and coral near the shore. Not the best for swimming. Amazing fossils and crazy rock layers. Mosquitoes getting really bad here when the sun starts to set. Small crabs make a clicking sound like their own symphony. Look for the fast running, ghost crabs on the sandy beach!

You need a vaccination proof. Farangs normally 200 baht, today 100 baht per person because of the high tide when a lot is under water and not accessible Many explanations, 3D and written , but 70% in Thai. Best English explanations are in the visitors center.

Very nice to see the fossils. Was not sure what I was looking at it until I went down on my knees. To see the slaps packed the way it was is amazing. Wish I could get more information. What they have is really limited. An archeologist dream. Certain areas not suitable for small children especially outlook One and two. The stalls are manged by foreigners which makes it sad. Good service though.

What a disappointment this place was. Supposedly it's 75 million years old so I was looking forward to some great looking fossils and shells maybe some early life forms and all it was it looked like a slab of cement. This place is a big tourist draw for some reason. Just hype and nothing else The only thing I thought was positive was some of the shops had some beautiful wall hangings and things made of shells for very low price I bought one and it's very beautiful. Skip this place it wasn't worth the price of admission

200bhat per person is quite a high price when the subtitles on the introductory signs are only in Thai. You can walk through the route in 10 minutes. We bought pearls from a stall.

Not worth to visit unless you have time and want to know more on fossil. Better to check time to visit as you will not see much during the rising tide. Entry fee is standard rate for national park.

Not really anything special to see. History is interesting, but you are better off looking this place from pictures. If you are renting a scooter, you can take a quick visit, but do not pay for any transportation to come here.

  • 2/5 Satish C. 1 year ago on Google
The place does not have much attention. Worth not visiting it. Yes of couse in case to buy shells and pearls, once should visit the place. But the cost of the jewellery is high. The park closes at 5:30 pm and have 100 bath entry fees for foreigners. Also, the same is away from the city, so one has to travel either through rented bike or hired vehicle since it is difficult to arrange transport while returning.

We were in krabi in October 2022 . It was the monsoon season there but we didn't want to miss out, hence we rented a bike and ride to shell cemetery also known as fossil beach. To go in the beach you have to pay an entrance fee. As it was raining we didn't go in the beach but make use of our time to explore around the area.It was definitely worth it. There were lots of souvenirs shops, lots of trinkets and magnificent shells being sold and a few eateries were opened whilst we were there. Many of the shop vendors are Muslims and can speak Malay in the utara version. We gots some lovely souvenirs for the family. The shop vendor was very friendly and smiley. They don't do hard selling and they are very helpful. My hubby needed to perform his prayers and asked if there was a musollah in that area. One of the shop vendors said there is a mosque just before the entrance of the place but she also offered my hubby to perform his prayers in their house. That was sooo kind of her. May she be blessed in bounties. Most shops are actually the home of the vendors..they operate their business at the front bit and live in the back bit of the area. It was such an experience to learn and know about this.

Not a lot to see. Unless you are a geologist and interested in such things, stay in the car park, enjoy the views and visit the tourist shops. If you want to see the rocks and don't wish to pay the exorbitant fee for foreigners, then head back toward Ao Nam Mao, take the first turning on the left after the mosque, follow to the end of the road, park then walk along the beach to the fossil rocks for free. At the tourist shops the pearls are well priced but not many are on knotted strings.

Love love love the place. To the naked eyes, the site is covered with slabs of stones. It's just amazing... looking at millions of fossilized shells and knowing that each layers tells a story. I can just sit here scrutinizing different types of shells. To think this is one of the three places in the world is just incredible!

(Translated by Google) The sightseeing area is small. Even if you come at high tide, there is almost nothing to see, and the entrance fee is not worth it, especially for foreigners. Here I come to buy inexpensive things related to shells, mobile phones, strange shells that are available for purchase. The birth of the plates that have crystallized into fossils have been described. It is an oyster shell, such as periwinkle, clam, packed together until forming a sheet for a long time into stone.
