The food was amazing. . . but the service is the worst I've ever experienced, no exaggeration. The waitress assigned to us was absent all the time, we had to roam around the restaurant bothering other waiters and waitresses to get them to ask her to take our orders. When we payed she didn't even look at us, she said nothing and just walked away... Absolutely appalling behaviour. I wish I could give 5 stars for the food alone but the service ruined the whole experience. Very unfortunate. That said, the host was very apologetic when we told him, and genuinely happy that we enjoyed the food. It was busy and they were understaffed - but the waitress assigned our table was in a terrible mood and only with us. He asked which waitress it was by name, but how could we know with how little she spoke to us and how seldom we saw her. He was very sympathetic and I wish her bad mood didn't ruin the evening like it did because everyone else at the restaurant was doing such a good job!! The host, the musicians, the kitchen - bravo! I'd LOVE to eat here again as long as we are served by someone else.

Amazing polish cuisine. The menu is bilingual Polish and English. Nominal prices and value for money definitely. The hot wine was amazing, spiced abundantly with claws, making it special. Tried the Polish sausage, it was over filling and it’s good for 2, one cannot finish it alone. The service was amazing. Really should appreciate the waiters and waitress waiting on the table as a serve with smile and. They were quite friendly and also if required. They also do give recommendations. Unfortunately, tipping has to be made in cash as they don’t add it to the bill even when requested. The place is always crowded, owing to its popularity and best polish cuisine. There is a brief wait. However it’s not long and it’s definitely definitely worth it. The standard compliment of fresh cucumber and horse radish Pickles are amazing with bread.

Total disaster 45 minutes of waiting, and then we were told that one of the main dish we oedered is finished, really? Were have you been 45min?? The other dish (officer plate) was very bad prepared, the meat was not chewable, the rice was without any taste the potato was OK. The only dish which was fine is the chicken soup. To the owner, you need to learn how to manage a kitchen properly and not to inform your customers after long waiting that the dish is over

Nice beer. Great potato pancakes (as well as other items on the menu). I would say it’s a must visit while in Kraków. Awesome classic Polish cuisine. Eclectic decor. Cool old school scale at the front door to do a weigh in before and after.

Not bad. We came here late at night, and the place was still packed. Nevertheless, food and beers arrived quickly. The chicken liver was delicious. The Caesar salad, however, consisted mainly of grilled chicken and, for some strange reason, ham. Nice but unexpected. 😬 Overall, nice experience.

As a tourist i always wonder about those places. Was recommended by a local guide. Well experience was great (i was alone). I got a nice table in the middle of locals. Local people playing fun music with locals singing. My waitress Karolyn was super friendly and efficient. Here recommendations where honest and excellent. I had a great evening.

Great big lleve with huge cozy terrace. The kitchen is pretty quick in preparing your dishes and they are very tasty! I chose this time to try a duck with apple, very good one! I would recommend some fries apart as well! But the portion is big, you better be hungry or sharing is the best choice! You always can find a table there, lot of people have been there once, you will see at the wall of photos they have inside.

Great food in a central convenient location. Came here and ordered the schnitzel and a potato dish. Portions were fairly substantial and both quite enjoyable, although I would recommend getting a sauce for the schnitzel dish. When we ordered our starters the waitress brought the first one out and then told us they didn’t have the other dish. Would have been nice if they did this when we ordered. Anyway food was good. The place is very quirky and right by the castle. Great place and imagine it has great views in the winter when the trees aren’t green. Service could be better.

we came in at 10pm and there were a good amount of people still dinning. We were quickly seated and the interior of the restaurant was very cozy. We ordered potato pancake with beef and it was outta this world tasty 😋 the fries with the steak was very delicious too. The pierogi were marvelous too. My partner and i had such an amazing time there and will miss it!!

Came on a Tuesday evening, had a pork knuckle. The pork knuckle(1 to 1.2kg) was overly salty. Wasn't the juiciest and the skin was hard. We could not eat it. Asked the waitress and she said this is how it is supposed to be. Had the goulash soup which was not bad. We were served by a lady who was really nice and friendly. Kudos to her! Wouldn't recommend the pork knuckle at all(120 zloty equivalent to approximately £24). The bill came out to be 190 zloty(£38).

We came here on a Monday night and it was packed. We ordered schnitzel and beef goulash. Both dishes were delicious. The food came quickly and the waitress was so sweet and attentive. It was loud because it is a very large room and everyone was talking at same time but it made for a joyful atmosphere, however the downside was a very loud group of young men screaming and yelling. The management should have told them to keep it down. It was out of the ordinary. I would highly recommend this place to eat and get a great value for your money.

Two visits in one week and two different experiences: both times the food was very good. I recommend schnitzel or mushroom sauce with a potato pancake. Also the herring and black puding as a starters were really great. I don't recommend pierogi. Service On the first visit, everything was perfect - fast and attentive service. Very nice. But on the second visit it was a complete disaster. We waited 30 minutes for the possibility to order, the main meal was served to us on the table among the empty dirty plates from the appetizers. And we ended up waiting 40 minutes (really) for the bill. We asked the waiter for the bill three times. Of course still with dirty plates on the table and no drinks. And finally - the violin and accordion musicians could be less loud or at least play well.

Really enjoyed this restaurant! We thought we entered a tourist trap with all the tourists, but the prices were really cheap, the dishes and drinks were sooo creative, there was live music, service was litterally awesome and the food was great.

Located just steps away from the iconic Wawel Castle, Pod Wawelem offers a truly immersive culinary experience. The service at Pod Wawelem was exceptional from start to finish. The staff were attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about their food. Viktoria guided us through the extensive menu, which showcased an impressive array of traditional Polish dishes. The quality and presentation of the food at Pod Wawelem were outstanding. Each dish was a perfect balance of flavors, showcasing the richness of Polish cuisine. The pierogi, in particular, were a revelation - soft and delicate, filled with a flavorful mixture of traditional ingredients. The Polish sausage was another highlight, smoky and juicy, bursting with authentic flavors that left my taste buds dancing with delight. All in all, my experience at Pod Wawelem was nothing short of exceptional. Pod Wawelem will exceed your expectations. It truly is a historical gem with magnificent views.

A nice restaurant in the city center. It is located in one of the most popular places. Despite this fact, the prices are very good and the quality of the food was pretty good. We had the biggest schnitzel I ever saw.. there is also a playground on the upper floor. Everything we tasted was good, however be noticed, the chopped steak is actually a really well chopped steak ... It looks more like a burger than a steak ! When we arrived there was a huge queue , but we went to our table and ordered fast. A very good choice, with good prices in the heart of Krakow.

Really amazing polish food. We got there at 15:15 and were in the queue for 25’ more or less (it was quite long). We recommend to reserve if possible. Chicken soup is really cheap and so yummy. Amazing Pierogi!!!

The restaurant is located in a very nice place near the Wawel Castle. The portions are big and the food is good. They always serve the food with fresh cucumber and cabbage pickle. The only thing is that it is very crowded, so you better have your reservation.

Nothing extraordinary, just ok. Lunched in on a Friday, mid October. Spaces were available. Food quality is about average. Potatoes arrived cold, supposedly melted cheese on top of grilled chicken wasn't melted at all (photo). Side salads were mainly pickled and kind of slopped on the plates, food presentation could have been improved. The venue in itself is quirky, although the audio stories played in toilets are just strange. Service was polite but a bit slow, also got my bill mixed up.

Food is in average. Not good and not bad. I’d not recommend you come here for very good taste. Service is good as other restaurants. Ask whenever you need. I do enjoy the environment quite a lot!!! Very relaxing, and the restaurant is by the park, so having a beer is such wonderful time!

Very polish place. They have offers every day of the week, but my favourite is Monday with one liter beer at 10 zł and huge Sznycel at less than 20 zł. Then I recommend to ask for mushroom sauce!

Huge portions and still very good food. We had ribs, duck and trout. The meat fell off the bones by itself, the duck was jucy from the inside and crisp on the outside. The Trout was delicious as well. It can be quite loud inside if all table are booked but anyway it was great. I would visit this restaurant again.

Lovely place, popular with locals, varied menu. We decided to try polish delicacies but they weren't for us. The rest of the menu looked great. HUGE portions and very reasonably priced.

Nice food at a reasonable price. The restaurant has a great layout and relaxing vibe, even though I was dining solo, I was quickly escorted to a nice table that was really comfortable even for eating alone. The highlight was the service, very charming and friendly staffs. I would recommend this restaurant.

While I guess I am technically a tourist it's my family's third time in Poland, we're here for a month, and we have friends here. Our friends eat in this restaurant regularly. It has a big mix of locals and tourists alike. The food is great and the prices aren't terrible. If you have a small child (I don't but this is a tip for you) ask for the family room. Then, upstairs in the family room there's a huge playroom where the kids can run wild. You can let them go up there and play while you eat.

This is a lovely place, close to the Wawel Castle, where you can eat good Central-Eastern European food for a fair price, living a traditional atmosphere and drinking good beers. I love it ♡

The waitress was very nice and explaining everything in nice English. We took the mushroom pancake filled with beef and the half roasted chicken which was on offer on Sunday apparently! The chicken was nice and quite a lot actually, and even with fries. The pancake was with quite a lot of mushroom sause and filled with beef, kinda unique combination (to us at least). Both dishes were fine and sharing the dishes left us with a satisfied feeling. After paying we got a cherry flavoured drink - this tasted also nice if you like cherries that is!

I tried the mushroom soup and the potatoes pancake with salmon plus a lagger beer; it nailed my palate. It is a busy and relaxed place mixing locals and tourists. You can not be wrong here. A bit pricey but absolute in the quality given to the clients. The staff is fantastic and welcoming, apart from one receptionist guy, who maybe had a bad day. 😅

Perfect spot. Nice atmosphere with music. Reminded me of a beer hall. The pierogies were best we had - slightly fried instead of the normal boiled. Very good. Beer was delicious. Waitress was lovely. The potato pancakes were very good!

Fantastic restaurant with great selection of Polish dishes. Very good quality and very unique atmosphere. Excellent staff I was served by Vlad who was very helpful and had an amazing customer service. I always have to visit this restaurant when I'm in Kraków. I cannot recommend enough. Thank you for your hospitality.

A proper beerhouse. Every proper city needs a restaurant like this. 🍻😁 I love it. They serve great local food. It's a rather big restaurant, service is fast and professional. The vibe is just great.

Very delicious, fresh local foods, really big portions for good price. We recommend it! 😉 But the service was bit slow, probably because of the plenty of guests. Personally I think that it's worth queuing up.

We had a great big meat platter for two, some lemonade, beer & wine. This restaurant is able to properly handle the crowds it receives. We were happy to have stopped for dinner here. It’s not the fanciest place but the food is good! We got a cherry drink after paying for dinner, I love cherries so it was a nice little digestif.

Amazing place with old school vibes, great service, and very authentic flavours!! We tried the beer with raspberry syrup which was very refreshing. You can also get it with ginger syrup. Followed that with the potato pancake in mushroom sauce which was so good that I would want to go back to Krakow just to eat that again. I was told this is a must try in Poland. The dumplings with cabbage, and the mushroom soup. I did not like the mushroom soup a lot but everything else was fantastic!!

Food is ok. Not something that I will crave to come back soon. Pork knuckle skin is hard not crunchy n beef tartar has lots of tendon n lack of beefy taste. Soup are so so only.

  • 2/5 Matt H. 2 years ago on Google
Pretty location, decent prices, but not tasty food, presented in an unflattering way, with mediocre service. We went with a party of two to have dinner: ate starters, mains but skipped desert. The food was one of the worst I’ve had in Poland (and as a kid of Polish parents I know what ik taking about). Rather bland, presented in a very unappetizing way. But worse: there were many waiters working there who were basically doing nothing, hanging, chatting - and not minding customers looking for attention. There is so much better in Krakow. Wouldn’t recommend.

Amazing meals, we try two kind of soup and four different dishes. Spot on! Without a compromise! No filtered beers just add a good mood. Good service

Excellent meal once again at Pod!! It was Maya’s first night tonight and she was excellent! Hot food, everything was exactly as ordered, good beer, no complaints! Will definitely be back! One suggestion for the owners, allow for a tip via credit card. We wanted to give Maya something extra but could not via credit card. If this doesn’t change, there’s an ATM close by! Anyway overall everything was great!

The waitress we had ( I am sorry I didn’t catch her name) was so lovely. The food is good and is worth trying. The portions for schnitzel are massive I’d recommend getting the kids or sharing.

  • 5/5 Maria B. 7 months ago on Google
Although the food was nothing special, the portions were big for the really small prices. As for the atmosphere it was great. The place was alive, everybody was talking and laughing. Our waitress Anijka was so patient with us, while struggling to decide what we wanted to order.

  • 5/5 Reynaldo N. 2 months ago on Google • 1 review New
We ordered for highlander‘s potato pancake filled w beef and mushroom sauce and it was amazing!! Might be the yummiest food we ate so far in Poland. The potato pancake was crispy on the outside but soft & chewy on the inside, the beef was tender, and the sauce was thick & savory yet not overwhelming — what an amazing combo! We love everything about the place ; the ambience, the food, and the service was so nice and fast. The waitress who served us was Natalia and she was so lovely! I highly recommend this place if you come visit Kraków 💖
