It's a very beautiful & cool place which is located in Nepal (The birthplace of Siddharth Gautama). Later became known as the BUDDHA. I visited it last time to explore Maya Devi Temple at evening time. It looks so beautiful in the evening by lighting. Apart from the Maya Devi Temple, there are several other monasteries and meditation centres in Lumbini that offer visitors a chance to learn more about Buddhism and practice meditation. I recommend to all people to visit Lumbini.

Every time I visit Lumbini, I feel peace and serene. The last time I visited, I rented a bicycle with my friends which cost around Rs. 250-300 for 4-5 hrs. You'll finish each temple and also have time to chill which you'll miss on auto. So highly recommend renting bicycle.

Recently Chitrakoot Shrinath disciple visited Lumbini (Nepal) which is the birth place of Gautam Buddha. The old birth place structure of Gautam Buddha is well preserved here. After observing it we can imagine the old style of house construction. Buddhism was founded by Gautama Buddha. Buddha was born as Prince Siddhartha at Lumbini near Kapilavastu (in present Nepal) in 566 BC. He was the son of Suddhodhana and Mahamaya. Suddhodhana was the chief of the Sakya clan. Due to this, Buddha was also known as ‘Sakyamuni’. His mother died either giving birth to him or after seven days. Siddhartha was brought up by his maternal aunt, Prajapati Gautami. This gave him the name ‘Gautama’. He was married to Yashodhara and had a son, Rahula. He left his home at the age of 29 to become an ascetic. This event is called Mahabhishkramana. The idea of renunciation occurred to the Buddha after he saw four different states of man – sick man, old man, corpse and ascetic. Buddha wandered for seven years and at the age of 35 attained enlightenment at Uruvela while meditating under a Peepal tree (Fig Tree/ Ficus Religiosa) on the banks of the river Niranjana. This tree came to be known as ‘Bodhi tree’ and the place became Bodh Gaya (in Bihar). He gave his first sermon at Sarnath near Varanasi. This event is called Dharmachakra Pravartana/ Dhammachakkappavattana. He died in 483 BC under a Sal tree in Kushinagar (in UP). This event is called the Mahaparinirvana. The term ‘Buddha’ means ‘enlightened one’. The four noble truths (Arya Satya) in Buddhism are: 1. The world is full of sorrow 2. Desire is the root cause of all sorrow 3. Sorrow can be conquered by conquering desire 4. Desire can be conquered by following the eight-fold paths (Ashtangirka Marga) The eight-fold path in Buddhism is: Right understanding Right resolve Right speech Right action Right living Right efforts Right thought Right self-concentration. Some photographs and videos of this place for you

Nestled in the southern plains of Nepal, Lumbini is a sacred site revered as the birthplace of Lord Buddha. The tranquil atmosphere of this UNESCO World Heritage Site attracts travelers seeking enlightenment, peace, and a deeper connection with Buddhist teachings. Imagine stepping into the serene grounds of Lumbini, where the air is infused with tranquility and the whispers of the wind carry echoes of centuries of devotion. Lush greenery surrounds you, creating a haven of peace amidst the bustling world. At the heart of Lumbini lies the Maya Devi Temple, marking the exact spot where Queen Maya gave birth to Siddhartha Gautama, the future Buddha, in 623 BCE. The intricate architecture and serene ambiance of this temple embody the essence of Buddhist teachings, offering a profound space for contemplation and reflection. Venture beyond the Maya Devi Temple to explore a tapestry of serenity and spiritual exploration. The Ashoka Pillar, erected in 249 BCE by Emperor Ashoka, stands as a testament to Lumbini's ancient reverence. Its inscriptions proclaim the Buddha's birth and the importance of non-violence and compassion. Lumbini is a living pilgrimage destination for Buddhists worldwide, where devotees from across the globe converge to seek enlightenment, immerse themselves in the Buddha's teachings, and offer their prayers at the sacred sites. The tranquil atmosphere provides an ideal setting for meditation and self-discovery, allowing you to find inner peace amidst the soothing sounds of nature. Lumbini's significance extends beyond its religious importance; it is a beacon of peace and compassion, a reminder of the Buddha's teachings on non-violence, tolerance, and understanding. As you depart from this sacred site, carry with you the tranquility and wisdom you have encountered, letting the Buddha's teachings guide your actions, inspire your thoughts, and cultivate compassion in your daily life. Spread the message of peace and harmony that resonates from Lumbini to every corner of the world. **Visited the sacred place in 2013 with my family and friends from Srilanka.

The Lord Buddha was born in 623 BC in the sacred area of Lumbini located in the Terai plains of southern Nepal, testified by the inscription on the pillar erected by the Mauryan Emperor Asoka in 249 BC. Lumbini is one of the holiest places of one of the world's great religions, and its remains contain important evidence about the nature of Buddhist pilgrimage centres from as early as the 3rd century BC. The complex of structures within the archaeological conservation area includes the Shakya Tank; the remains within the Maya Devi Temple consisting of brick structures in a cross-wall system dating from the 3rd century BC to the present century and the sandstone Ashoka pillar with its Pali inscription in Brahmi script. Additionally there are the excavated remains of Buddhist viharas (monasteries) of the 3rd century BC to the 5th century AD and the remains of Buddhist stupas (memorial shrines) from the 3rd century BC to the 15th century AD. The site is now being developed as a Buddhist pilgrimage centre, where the archaeological remains associated with the birth of the Lord Buddha form a central feature. Criterion (iii): As the birthplace of the Lord Buddha, testified by the inscription on the Asoka pillar, the sacred area in Lumbini is one of the most holy and significant places for one of the world’s great religions. Criterion (vi): The archaeological remains of the Buddhist viharas (monasteries) and stupas (memorial shrines) from the 3rd century BC to the 15th century AD, provide important evidence about the nature of Buddhist pilgrimage centres from a very early period.

What can you expect while visiting Buddha birth place apart from peace. First of all, if you are planning to visit Lumbini and explore the place, you need to have entire day and wear something comfortable especially shoes as you have to walk a lot even though you have hired auto. There are lot of monasteries in Lumbini belongs to different country.

One of the historic place of Nepal. Founder of Buddhism lord Gautam Buddha was born here. Ashoka pillar is also there which symbolizes the whole place with authenticity. Do visit this place when you visit Nepal. Other buildings structures built in nearby area have made this place hide a little, but do not forget to go there when you are in that place.

Beautiful place to visit. You will have to take car parking ticket from Center and then drive towards the temple . You can park close to temple. Keep Rs 100 note as they don’t accept Rs 500 or other notes . Fees per person is Rs 60 (Nepali ) . Almost requires 2-3 kms walk . Shoe rack is near the entry . Very serene place . Main birth place , Ashoka pillar are important things to visit . It has ruins of that era

Birth Place of Lord Buddha. Messenger of Peace. The problem is, it is surrounded by Muslim populated area. And i suspect in the near future problems may arise. Ancient structures dating 2000 yrs back are scattered all over the place.

The Birthplace of Gautam Buddha Lies close to the India border. Since it's a place visited by many Buddhist followers & tourists, a lot of Eastern countries have built their beautiful Dharamshalas & meditation centres like India, Singapore, Korea, Thailand, Japan, China, etc. There are 2 main sites to visit in the Complex, one is the Mayadevi Temple Site and other is the World Peace Pagoda. It can easily take you an entire day to explore all the areas. The Mayadevi temple site is a white building structure with a marker stone which was placed by Indian Emperor Ashoka 400 years after Buddha's birth. He found the location of where Gautam Siddharth was delivered on a full moon night in April when his mother Mahadevi was on her way to her Hometown. The edifice on the spot mentions that Samrat Ashoka visited the location himself, placed the marker stone & waived taxes for the residents as a mark of respect for the enlighted being. There is also a Bodhi tree, some ancient stupas and brick channels of the ancient times. There is boating activities, a cafe and restroom facility a good walk away from the temple site. Photography is not allowed inside the building and it is a holy site venerated by the Buddhists. There is a nominal entry fee to the Mayadevi temple and there is a security check at the entrance. You are required to remove your footwear and wash ur feet before entering the holy premises. There are a few steps to climb & a wooden ramp to walk on, so not recommended for people on wheelchair & aged seniors. Many leave back cash & gold foils on the rock near the stone as a mark of respect. The World Peace Pagoda is a huge White dome funded by the Japanese. A serene peaceful place. Reaching Lumbini by road is easy. There are many hotels in the area, but I would recommend the ones near the circle in between the Pagoda and the temple. It's easier to park your vehicle & hire a local rickshaw or van to visit all the spots as they know the shortcuts. When I visited, I saw an airport being built as well as provision for Electronic buses.

There are Lots of temple and places to visit here, cleanliness and ambience of this place is outstanding properly maintained and designed. There are lots of temples here constructed by various countries in rememberance of Lord Budhha, but original birth place is inside Gate No.3 only. You need atleast a day and a half to visit these places and enjoy there spirituallity. Indians are charged Nepali currency 40 per head and private vehicle or taxi is charged 300 per vehicle. You can easily stay at hotels near Gate No. 3 in the price of 1200 to 1800 nepal rupees depending upon season and availability. Places here will give you a memory of lifetime.
