This is a very good museum with a lot of original exhibits, well designed rooms according to different periods of the war, and prominent people who were involved in those events. I can't say that I enjoyed it as the topic is very sad and hard - I had tears in my eyes for most of the time we were thete, but it is so well designed, presented, and preserved! Visit to this museum was certainly a highlight to our visit to Bloemfontein.

Surprised at the neatness of the museum. Plenty of information on the history, the detail, pictures and statues. It was like taking a trip back in history. Must have plenty of time to read all the information on display.

A must stop for anyone traveling to the Cape. Beautiful well maintained gardens. The museum is well organized and the displays are a window into our history during the Boer war. It leaves a sad aftermath when you walk through the doors. So many woman and children lost…..

A well-maintained museum, providing an interesting look at the history of the Anglo Boer War between the two British Colonies (Cape and KZN) and the two Boer Republics (Orange Free State and Transvaal), with the new Sol Plaatjie Hall providing a glimpse into how the indigenous people of the area were involved and early events that eventually led to the new democratic South Africa. A number of other monuments (eg National Women's Monument) and museums are located on the same campus.

Glad to see that this monument and museum is still kept tip top for future generations. My son loved the guns and tanks and my daughter was touched by the what children of her age had to endure. I also discovred that there were many concentration camps for blaack people.

Very cool museum with lots of cool artifacts from the war. If you are Dutch you will love it since there are a lot of references to the Netherlands. Also the outside property is very well maintained.

Still kept in a good condition, R20 entrance fee...you can see the history how the boer women and children suffer under English soldiers...But a good visit for your kids to learn more about history. Once again the restaurant was closed, as the owner decide when he want to open..please get a new contractor to run your restaurant and curio shop.

Small, but beautiful museum. It is very clean and well looked after. As Afrikaners, we are lucky to still have a museum that represents our history and I urge other Afrikaners to visit the museum with your children while we still can.

Visit this most amazing establishment! Here you will experience our history and get a better understanding of the current political situation in our Beloved country! I cried at the horror of how many innocent children lost their lives! When are we going to learn to protect our most vulnerable citizens? This museum should be compulsory for all to visit.... If you are passing Bloemfontein, make the detour and stay to linga a little longer! The entrance reminded me of the Wall of remembrance of the Vietnam War Memorial in Washington DC. If you are disappointed you probably need to go back and pay more attention.... 😏🙃🙂

Place is very neat and definitely worth to visit especially if you want to know more about the Anglo Boer war. There is a museum and exhibitions outside. Just a pity that the restaurant is closed.

Short stop in Bloemfontein because of this Museum. It was worth it. The Museum is well-manteined , actually I was expecting something different, regarding with my experience in Kruger Home Museum in Pretoria. I learnt some new facts about the War, especially those who were exiled in Portugal. I can't miss the opportunity to show my respects to those men who fought for their people. Greetings from Spain.

The place is very clean inside and out. The lawn is green, clearly shows that it is well kept. The history of Boers and Africans is very touching, it is not for the fainted hearts.

It was more than I expected i guess and they have a huge collection of artifacts with very detailed information on both Boer Wars 1 &2 and much more, its very inexpensive to visit and you can tour it at your own leisure, they have some interactive displays as well and some outdoors, there are also memorials to the many women and children that lost their lives due to British colonialism, its worth taking your children to educate them on the early history of this country.

This is really a world-class museum, with outstanding exhibits across the wide spectrum of the war's participants. The archives are similarly impressive with friendly and helpful staff. Well worth a day out.

Such a great experience but then again also really eye-opening. So many memories and history all trapped between four walls. Bravery , slavery , suffering, torture and death.

Absolutely lovely gardens, newly introduced little donkey to the pond area. She is just adorable. Cleopatra she's called if I remember correctly.

Very neat and well kept, from the grass to the top floor. Very reasonable prices too, we payed R50 in total for two pensioners and a adult. Beware that it will be an emotionally moving visit when you realize the scope and horror of the war. It is not a huge museum and you can take everything in under two hours or less. No cameras allowed inside. Bathrooms were neat and clean and there is an elevator, allthoug you would move from one hall to another by stairs.

This is a first-rate museum featuring many actual artefacts, well decorated rooms representing various wartime eras, and notable figures who contributed to those events. Although the subject matter is quite depressing and difficult (I found myself crying for the majority of the time we were there), I can't say that I appreciated it since it is so beautifully created, displayed, and preserved! Our trip to this museum was undoubtedly the high point of our time in Bloemfontein.
