When we were heading towards some place for lunch, this shop took our sight. It is a pure vegetarian restaurant. They have multiple cusines of India and thali as well. The place is beautifully designed with attractive interiors and this gives a positive vibe. The taste of the food was good and sufficient. The rates are quite nominal and the service was good. It was crowded as it was peak lunch time but we could get a seat. The food served was hygienic and the place was completely neat and clean. The restrooms were also maintained neat.

I was nearby Sri Aurobindo Ashram and decided to try out this place. The place has very family vibes and seems like a perfect place for family lunch or dinner. Staff were following the safety precautions. The place is famous for its South Indian Fare but they do have North Indian options as well. I had an onion uttapam at this place. It was served with sambhar and 3 chutneys. The uttapam was made very well and chutneys enhanced the taste overall.

We went there for Launch and i can say their service was good with Heritage vibes and interior design . When we went it was almost empty . We ordered South Indian Thali and it was good in taste . It comes with Chapati, papad, curd, sweet pickle , rice bowl, Sambar , rasam and other 3 vegetables . Each of them was good in taste. Also they gave water glass for drinking water . They have Hand wash facility and behavior of the stuffs were good . But i felt somehow it could be better in taste . I also liked the Mission street outlet than this spot one . Though it was good not bad . You can try . Additionally you can get various south Indian dishes , breakfast and tea .

The service was pathetic, we had to keep asking even for water. There were also long delays for just talking the order and evn more for delivering it. Worst was to having deal with mosquitoes. Yes, they would hover over your head inside the place. They should give a mosquito killing electric bat along with the plates so that we can sit and eat peacefully. Taste was not great either, we tried both south Indian but it was only average so thought maybe they are better at North Indian food and ordered pav bhaji . But when tried that it was worse. The pav was soaked in oil and the bhaji also had no taste and lots of oil. Only the rawa dosa was something that felt acceptable. Thankfully the pricing was decent. Stick to dosas and you will be a happy customer is what I understood.

Hotel Surguru is located three more spots in the Pondicherry but this one is located in Nheru street next to the manakula vinayagar temple. I used to go here whenever i wanted to have veg food, all the time it's very crowded. They could arrange sofas or chairs for people who waiting to get a table. Both South and North Indian foods are available especially sounth Indian meal is amazing here. Cost is moderate...staffs are seems to be friendly. I like the Pondicherry city map on their door. Overall its a good choice for families and vegetarians and quick bite for kids.

The cafe is located in a prime location. We had both South Indian and North Indian food, and surprisingly, tomato soup, dal, and tandoori roti were better than Podi masala dosa. Masala was very bad and came at an additional cost. Chutneys were superb, but sambar was not good. Plain dosa would have been better. Ambiance was basic, like any other Udupi restaurant. You should visit another branch nearby that one is awesome.

Highly disappointing to see such a wonderfull restaurant with poor maintenance and unsatisfactory service. The chairs are too old and dirty, poor cleaning of tables , toilets are extremely poorly maintained witu leaking water from the ceiling. Unplesant experience in such a famous restaurant located in a popular place 👎. The only satisfactory was food taste which remains same for years together.

Visited with family for the lunch, lucky to get the seats for lunch. A day before visited for dinner, unfortunately did not get seat. Place is too small, that's why the seats are very limited. OMG service is very pathetic, u need to ask for multiple times for anything. Asked for water, had to wait for 15 mins to get it. Cost of food is little expensive. Tried the north Indian thali, it's overpriced. I don't see much items in it to pay for 270+ . Even for paying bill had to wait for long time . If we want to spend more time in the area, then good place to have food.

This place serves your comfort food. The waiting time that they told was really too long like 30- 40 minutes but having heard about this place so much, we felt like giving it a try and the experience turned out to be amazing. Instead of waiting for 30-40 minutes, we got a table within 5 minutes. We ordered daal, roti, sabzi, raita, malabar parotha, everything was so delicious. The prices are so reasonable, the service was good too. Especially after a tiring day, the food will satisfy your hunger.

Our experience at Surguru restaurant was great! We stopped there for lunch and thankfully had space for car parking at the entrance. We got the business lunch, North Indian lunch and a chapati set. The quantity was huge and the taste was amazing! The North Indian lunch, in particular, was very tasty. The ambience is quaint and the service is good too. Would definitely recommend visiting.

Compare to Mission street branch, this is worst. I ordered paneer dosa, its not cooked well. Service is bad. They can't maintain the crowd. Taste is also moderate.

Easy to locate and pin. Adjacent lane to Manakula vinayakar temple, Pondy. Very cosy and warm look as we settled in around 12 noon. Their USP - good menu spread, decent pricing, neat ambience and presentation. We settled for veg meals and juices.

Reasonable; good ambience; tasty🤩 Hygienic. If you're a vegetarian please never hesitate to stop at this restaurant. The restaurant is at the most happening area so if you're doing roadside shopping and tired want to have good food which takes only few minutes and need a peaceful calm surrounding, then this is it

Only one of the few places in Pondicherry where you would find good North Indian food. It’s a pure veg restaurant serving authentic South Indian and few North Indian dishes. We had Paratha & Korma, Palak paneer, paneer kulcha, Kashmiri naan, lachcha parantha, mix raita and fresh juices. Everything was well prepared and delectable. In deserts they only had ice creams. Staff was just ok in dealing and it felt as if they were in a hurry to wind up for the day.

It is ok. The menu is quite limited. If you visit this place then please be open to listening to a NO to almost everything on the menu. Ambience wise, it is good, clean. It is a good respite from the humid weather of Pondy. There are no covid protocols in place. No sanitizers. No temperature checks. Staff were seen with face masks on.

Absolutely MUST if you're visiting Pondicherry! The food was delicious, specially the Masala Dossa (The best one we've had in India) and the paneer 65 was amazing. The stuff was nice and kind and the restaurant is clean 👌

This place is suitable for families. It is a pure veg restaurant. The ambience is quiet and nice. The food is good and simple here. It offers good South Indian food and other cuisines as well. We had the masala dosa and the special fifa idli and they were both good especially the chutneys. The service is very good.

Great food great restaurant. Classy ambience. Overall a great place for your breakfast. Enjoyed it. Rawa masala Dosa and poori bhaaji was great. Idli were soft and delicious. Filter coffee was refreshing and strong.

A fantastic place for a perfect breakfast. We had Ghee Podi Roast Dosa and it was top notch... Things that are fantastic 1)Service 2)Food Quality Things that need improvement 1)You might have to deal with mosquitoes which is bit dangerous and headache. If the above is improved then this hotel is a best in class one.

Just a fancy restaurant with some good lighting setup. Food was average and heavily priced just for the ambience. Service must be improved. The waiters treat the Local ppl with less importance than the North Indian/foreign ppl.. The toilet floor was flooded- disgusting 🤮

Very good vegetarian food in Puducherry. Absolutely tasty and quantity of the food is also on the higher side, quite stomach filling. We ordered mushroom soup, panneer 65, corn pakoda, phulka and aloo gobi, butter milk. Everyhing was delicious, piping hot and filling.

Super tasteful and healthy vegetarian dishes. Service is quick and clean. Warm atmosphere and cozy location. You can see a lot of diverse people sitting around here. All of the menu including south and north cuisine both are phenomenal

Me and my friend visited the restaurant for breakfast. The place had a waiting queue and as we were given the seats we realized that the waiting queue is there just because of poor management. We were assigned a table for 4 when a table for 2 got vacant at the same time (there is no reservation policy). The food was average and to be honest I have had better Sambar in North Indian restaurants although the chutney was quite good and was made of fresh ingredients. I asked the waiter if they had filter coffee because it was not there on the menu he said yes and brought a cappuccino. While we were still eating (probably halfway through) we were given the bill (without asking for it).
