The Poornathrayeeshan Temple in Thripunithura is a remarkable testament to Kerala's cultural and architectural heritage. Its vibrant colors, intricate woodwork, and beautifully adorned sanctum sanctorum are truly captivating. The temple's serene surroundings and the well-maintained premises make it a peaceful place for spiritual contemplation. One of the highlights of this temple is the annual Vrishchikolsavam festival, which is celebrated with great enthusiasm and grandeur. During this time, the temple comes alive with processions, music, and traditional art forms. However, visitors should be aware that the temple can get quite crowded, especially during festivals, which may affect the overall experience. Nevertheless, the Poornathrayeeshan Temple is a cultural gem that offers a glimpse into Kerala's rich traditions and is worth a visit for those interested in exploring the state's heritage.

Beautiful and ancient temple of Sri Santhana Gopala Krishna Swami. Also known as Sree Poornatrayeesha. The Lord is sitting on the lap of Adisesha with right leg folded, holding a lotus flower in His right hand. Arjuna installed this temple. Traditions say that Lord Vishnu offered the Deity of Sree Poornathrayeesa to Arjuna (the 3rd of the Pandavas), when he sought the help of the Lord to give rebirth to the ten children of a Brahmin. The ten children and the sacred idol were taken by Arjuna in his chariot and he handed over the children to the Brahmin. In memory of this event, a temple was built with a sanctum sanctorum in the form of a chariot.

It was Wonderful experience from here.. The Vrischikolsavam are famous festival in this temple..The ulsavam start from here.. Tripunithura Temple is the temple with maximum number of festivals in a calendar year. The Vrischikolsavam festival of Sree Poornathrayeesa Temple is the most important one. Tripunithura Temple Vrischikolsavam 2021 date is December 2 to December 8. The 8-day festival is observed in such a manner that it ends on the Thiruvonam nakshatra day in Vrischikam month. The festival is also known as Anguradi festival. The festival is a rare occasion to listen to all traditional Kerala temple music. Melam, Panchavadyam, Thayambaka, Madhalapattu, Kombu Pattu, Kuzhal Pattu etc are performed during the 8-day festival. The main highlight of the festival is Ezhunnallippu (procession of the utsava murti of the temple atop than elephant). Fifteen caparisoned elephants accompany the deity with Panchari Melam as music. Panchari Melam with all its perfection is performed in the temple during the festival and it lasts for about 3.5 hours. Panchari Melam is followed by adantha melam and conclude with the third and fourth division of the chembada melam, which is famous here as nadapura melam. Thrikketta Purappadu Fourth day of the festival is known as Thrikketta Purappadu. Vilwamangalam Swamiyar visited the temple during the festival period and found the divine presence in the procession and not in the sanctum sanctorum of the temple. So it is believed that the deity leaves the sanctum sanctorum and visits the devotees during the procession. The procession takes at night before a huge crowd who makes various offerings including money. The Kathakali and Carnatic music performed during the 8-day festival is noted for the participation of famous artists. Some of the world renowned musicians of South India gave their best music performance in the temple. Some of the temple arts like Kurathiyattam, Ottamthullal,Seethankan Thullal, Patakom and Sandhya kali are performed during the festival.

Temple situated at the heart of the town. The temple is relatively big and has a fairly large area within its confines. This is mainly where the elephants and other processions occur during festival seasons. The sanctorium is a medium sized structure. The temple is mainly dedicated to lord Vishnu. The temple’l main seasons are held during November - December. The elephant parades during this time is a sight to behild!

Sree Poornathrayeesa Temple is one of the eminent temples in Kerala, situated in Tripunithura, at a distance of around 10 km to the southeast of Ernakulam, Kerala. The temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu, worshipped in the form of Santhanagopala Murthy. Here, Santhanagopalamoorthy means "savior of Infants" is an incarnation of Lord Mahavishnu. Lord Vishnu is seen here in a sitting posture under the shade of five hoods of Ananthan. This is a unique pose unlike the other Vishnu temples where the Lord is usually found in a reclining posture on the divine serpent, Anantha The folded body of the serpent itself serves as the seat for the God

One of the temple's most awaited events is the annual Vrischikolsavam festival, a grand 8-day celebration that draws locals and tourists alike. The Vrischikolsavam festival is a testament to Kerala's vibrant cultural tapestry. At its heart is the enthralling Chendamelam, a traditional percussion ensemble that resonates through the air, filling every corner with rhythmic beats. Adding to the spectacle are the majestic elephants that lead a grand procession, their adorned presence capturing the essence of the festivities. The sight of 15 elephants moving in harmony is nothing short of awe-inspiring, making it a cherished memory for attendees. The festival also showcases Kerala's traditional arts. Sree Poornathrayesa temple ( ശ്രീ പൂര്‍ണ്ണത്രയീശ ക്ഷേത്രം) is a Hindu temple situated in Tripunithura, Kochi, the capital of the former Kingdom of Cochin, Kerala, India. The temple is considered among the greatest temples in Kerala and was the first among eight royal temples of the erstwhile Kingdom of Cochin. The presiding deity is Vishnu as Santhanagopala Murthy or Poornathrayeesa. He was the national deity of Cochin and protector guardian of Tripunithura. Poornathrayeesa is known for his love of elephants. Hence more than 40 elephants participate in his Vrishchikotsavam. The temple is famous for its yearly utsavams or festivals. The main one is the Vrishchikoltsawam, which is conducted annually in the month of Vrishchikam (November–December), kicking off the Ulsava season in Kerala. This Vrishchikolsavam is the biggest temple festival in the world[citation needed] followed by the koodalmanikyam ulsavam iringalakkuda (Thrissur pooram is not an utsavam but it is a pooram so not counted as an utsavam) and one of the biggest major festivals in the world.[citation needed] It is believed that childless couples will be blessed with children on praying Poornathrayesan. Offering kanikka (money offered to the lord) to Poornathrayeesa in the most pure gold pot on thrikketta purappadu day (fourth day of Vrishchikotsavam) is the greatest achievement that a devotee can achieve. Visiting Poornathrayeesa who is present on top of 15 elephants during the grand procession of Vrishchikotsavam is also considered to be an achievement of a devotee.

Well... It's just a regular normal temple in kochi in usual days. But in festival times, it's just another vibe. Plenty of chendameelam, elephants 🐘,huge crowds till early 3-4 am. People from different parts of kerala visit this place to enjoy it's beauty. Plenty of shops, games, food, it's just pure entertainment and vibe. Like thrissur pooram and kollam pooram, Tripunithura temple is also equally famous. Note: take care of your belongings and small kids.the crowd is just massive.
