Waited almost an hour as we weren't booked in advance, so its okay.We ordered from Nirvana and some other from the sea food menu. except the ashtamudi fish curry, porotta and appam rest of them didn't taste well, i feel its just another social media hype, you could easily find much tastier food from outside on a reasonable price. So In general my experience is bad.

We ordered Starters - Inji Puli Chicken Wings (4/5) Sambharam Kadumanga Paani Pooris (1/5) Pazham Pori Chaat (3/5) Drinks- Kerala Toddy (5/5) PachaManga Spiced (4/5) Main- Sear Fish Nirvana (3/5) Nikka Biriyani (2/5) Nei Choru (3/5) Malabar Nool Porotta (4/5) Kollam Aattirachi Mutton Curry (1/5) Desert- Tender Coconut Pudding (3/5) Unniappam Falooda (2/5) Total around Rs.6k with tax The place is overhyped by social media for sure. Ambiance and Service is nice. The only food I enjoyed eating was Inji Puli Chicken Wings, Small portions hence the 4 out of 5 rating but tasted really good. Loved Kerala Toddy since this toddy is made without spirits and is just a sweet delicacy. The mutton curry was the worst as this tasted bland and we expected a burst of flavor for the price you pay. Fish Nirvana wasn’t all that great since the fish didn’t taste fresh but the gravy had a bit of flavor which tasted good with the Nool Porotta however Nool Porotta is the size of your palm. Biriyani wasn’t even close to being tasty but had a good portion. Uniappam Falooda is just cornflakes with syrup and couldn’t taste any Unniappams in there. Overall one time experience as you pay for the Ambiance and the Venue. Great place to take pictures (Outside the Restaurant)

We enjoyed the culinary expertise and hospitality of Chef Pillai and his team. Meticulously crafted menu that takes you through a memory lane filled with nostalgic Kerala cuisine. Flavours are distinct at the same time not overpowering. Definitely a must try!

Restaurant Chef Pillai, offers a diverse menu that caters to various tastes. The restaurant's signature dish, 'Nirvana,' intrigued me, so I tried the vegetarian version, 'Paneer Nirvana.' While it was enjoyable, it didn't top my list of best dishes ever. However, the overall dining experience was positive, with each dish presenting good flavours and quality. This spot is worth a visit for those curious to taste Chef Pillai's culinary creations. 🍽️ 👨‍🍳

A long awaited experience, I should say. Frankly, the food didn't live up to the expectations. I tasted a lot of cream in almost every dish I ordered. I don't complain about the prices, but the dishes were way less spicy than it was expected. I believe the chef reduced the spices so that the Westerners who are not used to such spices will have a treat, but as a malayali my expectations were not met, and also I just picked only some options, maybe that was the reason for this low rating. I will be back for the tasting menu and I really hope that I will change my rating.

Fantastic selection of unique, yet authentic Kerala cuisine. They had a good amount of vegetarian dishes, but a vast selection of non veg entrees. Absolutely try their Nirvana dish! Saran and Unni delivered phenomenal service. A must visit when in Kochi and well worth making the journey.

When we arrived, there was a 10 family waiting. Ambience is good also waiting was fine as we were staying there. We reached there by 9:40 range and got in by 10:40 and got food by 11:20 range. Food was good, and had rich flavor. They had high chair and kids plate, which my daughter liked. But because of the delay, she was sleepy.

We booked the table for dinner and visited, so could avoid the loong waiting time. Staff was very helpful. Good service. Ambience was good Food quantity was very less compared to the price. And felt the taste is over hyped. The food was good, tasty and fresh. But didnot feel the taste as a “unique” one, as hyped by the social media. One time try is suggested.

I wanted to visit this place since its inauguration! Finally got the chance to visit. To review in a sentence, I will definitely say this to be an experience that cannot missed by a foodie! Coming to the detailed review; Obviously, Fish Nirvana stood out in its taste! It was soo delicious and up to the hype! The portion is sufficient for 2-3 persons. My next favourite was the Inji Puli Chicken. The blend of Inji puli and the chicken made it a good starter! It was the first time of me trying nool porotta and Just Wow!!! It was crispy, hot, and delicious. All other dishes tasted good! Good service by the staffs and good ambience!

Had an amazing meal at chef pillai! The fish nirvana met all the hype and the inji puli chicken was mouthwatering as well. Lenin was especially helpful in seeing that our plates were never empty, and provided such excellent service even after the kitchen was closed. Highly recommend this place!

I had a nice experience. The food was quite good. Got to try some traditional Kerala cuisine. Please note that there is limited choice for vegetarians. People who love sea food will enjoy. Anjith was very helpful in selecting the best food. He was also very attentive to our needs throughout.

We enjoyed the food and Mr. Vishnu who attended us was really helpful in picking the right food based on our preference. I thought I never liked appam but he insisted to try it with their nirvana fish curry. It was the best fish curry I ever had. I highly recommend the place for people visiting Kochi.

Absolutely loved the experience. We had the boxing day brunch menu on 26 Dec and it was exceptionally wonderful. The service was excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Would highly recommend it to anyone wanting a 5 star Kerala food experience.

My visit to Chef Pillai's restaurant was a mixed experience. While the food was good, it didn't quite live up to the hype I'd seen on social media. The attentive staff, impressive interior, cleanliness, and overall atmosphere were definite highlights. On a scale of 1 to 5, I would rate it a 3.5, even though that option isn't available here.

Well to begin with ,the place, the ambience ,everything is really magnificent. The interior design is subtle and so soothing. The main highlight is without doubt ,Chef Pillai Restaurent.. Tried the Nirvana Feast Menu with all the chef special dishes, and it was really the best. The sambharam kadumanga Pani puri is an absolute excellent choice of fusion. It was really refreshing. The palkonj ,paneer -mushroom chammanthi, kappa pappadam pidi, meen thenga poripo, Puli inji chicken wings, everything had a really unique taste, felt like a taste ,something that is never experimented on. And to mention the exclusive fish Nirvana, that is seriously too good for words. It would go with anything ,say nool porotta or appam, making the dish melt in our mouth!.. There was rice too with sides such as veg mappas, ullitheeyal, beef fry, veetile chicken curry as well as the kollam attirachi curry.. all had really nice flavour. The dessert was also good . The choco brownie and pistachio sticky cake was really good. However, did not like the combination of palada cheese cake . The service is really superb . Special mention to Ananthu, for such a warm hospitality. Overall it's a great experiance. Definitely recommended.

I recently dined at Chef Pillai Cochin, Le Meridien, opting for the 2500 rupees tasting course. Unfortunately, the experience fell short of expectations. The portions arrived together instead of sequentially, diminishing the tasting experience. The appetizers were overly heavy, leaving us too full for subsequent courses. Many dishes leaned heavily on cream, making them challenging to finish. Service inconsistencies were notable, as two menu-listed tasting dishes were forgotten, requiring two reminders. This oversight was unacceptable. Considering the price, the overall experience did not align with fine dining standards. The taste of the food, at best, could be described as average. For a Western crowd, this might be disappointing. In summary, a three-star rating for service, two stars for food, and three stars for atmosphere encapsulate my dining experience at Chef Pillai Cochin, Le Meridien.

This was my first Chef Pillai experience. I came here for our office team lunch and had a wonderful experience. Warm service, and great food. Lots of innovative dishes were there on the menu. There was lots of normal fly in the restaurant we won’t expect that in a star restaurant. Staffs were roaming around with the mosquito bat to get rid of the fly but as I mentioned that scene was not appropriate for a star restaurant.

This was our first Chef Pillai experience. We came here for our wedding anniversary and had a wonderful experience. The ambience is amazing, warm service, and good food. It was very thoughtful for the team to bring for us a surprise anniversary cake. Made the experience further memorable. Special mention - Mr. Anoop and Miss Susmita for their warm services.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at RCP, and I was blown away by the food. Everything I ordered was cooked to perfection, and the flavors were incredible. I especially recommend the Fish Nirvana, which was the best I've ever had. The service was also excellent, I had a wonderful experience and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a delicious and memorable meal.

The restaurant is located inside The Le Meridian Hotel, Kochi. The ambience inside the restaurant was good. We have tried the Chef’s Special Seer Fish Nirvana and it tasted awesome. The rates of the dishes were a bit on higher side but then it was worth it when you want to taste some good quality tasty food. Overall experience was good and I recommend dining at this place

Good but expected way more. Overall the food was "good". The signature Fish Nirvana, the duck roast, the mutta appams, and all the desserts (special mentions for the Vattalappam & the tender coconut pudding) were excellent. The RCP prawns and the injipuli chicken wings were nicely spiced but overcooked, and the signature seafood platter was hit or miss. The attirachi (lamb meat) stew was terrible - felt like food that had been reheated one too many times. The service was attentive, but the drinks arrived after the appetizers. They don't serve alcohol (no bar license was the reason that was given) - but given that the restaurant is in a five star hotel with a bar within shouting distance, that didn't make sense. And the bust of the chef as you walk into the restaurant is Salt Bae-ish.

I had a wonderful dining experience at Chef Pillai in Kochi. There was about a 30 minute waiting time even on a weekday, and the place was buzzing even when we left at around 3.45pm, so it would be good to call and make a reservation beforehand. We started with the Kollam Aattirachi Curry, which was a flavorful and spicy curry made with lamb meat. The Venad Pal Konju was also delicious, a flavourful prawn starter dish cooked in a coconut-based sauce and topped with chutney powder. For our main course, we had the Nool Porotta, which was crispy, flaky and just perfect, and the Seer Fish Nirvana, a fish fillet cooked in a delicious coconut milk gravy .I wish it was spicier, but tasted great just as it was with the porotta. For dessert, we tried the Elaneer Vismayam, a creamy and refreshing tender coconut pudding, and the Unniyappam Falooda. We loved the Unniyappam Falooda with all the different textures and flavours. Overall, I had a wonderful dining experience at Chef Pillai. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

The restaurant is located inside Le Meridien, however access is quite simple. Requires advance reservation to dine here. The experience was excellent in terms of the taste & quality of the food as well as the service of the staff. The interior was also well done, although there was nothing striking about it. Got to say delicious food is the highlight of this place. The Nirvana specials are a must try. Ofcourse, the menu falls on the pricier side as is to be expected. Overall it was a pretty great dining experience. Definitely looking forward to more adventures here.

One of the must try restaurants in kochi. Fish nirvana was out of the world. We tried neymeen nirvana. It was so delicious an goes best with appam or nool porotta. Starters injilupi chicken wings, sambharam kadumanga pani puri and pazhmpori chaat are must try. Kanava kallil chuttathu was good but it couldn't compete with fish nirvana. Veetyle chicken curry is a good option if you don't want spicy curry. Kerala toddy and pacha Manga spiced are really good mocktails. Food is worth the money.

Visited the place during my last vacation and it totally stood up to the hype. I wouldn't say it's overpriced, because the quality of ingredients was really good. I guess this place is always crowded and with its popularity I would say the service was also goood. We were a group of 8 adults and the portions were upto the expectation. What do I recommend? Obviously, the fish nirvana and nool porotta. As starters, the injipuli chicken wings and masala Prawns. Oh, the fish platter was also really good!! My only suggestion is to include a dessert that is not so high in sugar.

Chef Pillai is not just a Chef, he is an artist in food making. Fully satisfied with dishes I had there. Awesome. In my humble opinion Chef has elevated our local tastes to a Continental level. Fish Nirvana, Puliyinchi Chicken, Prawns in Coconut Milk, Beef Ribs, Chicken curry, Unniyappam Falooda were all tried, and all are amazing and are 'Must have tried' items. Worth visiting place, don't hesitate, go at the earliest.

  • 2/5 Shantnu S. 4 months ago on Google
Taste 7/10 Ambience 8/10 It's an overhyped place. My server screwed up on the tasting menu. He tried his best to make it up, but frankly it made no sense. The service was slow and below standard. I took the tasting menu for 2 people. I was served with 1 paroth, 1 appam and all the main course had just 1 piece of chicken and meat. We were served beef, even though I clarified that the food is gonna be served without beef. Strange, but that's the truth. When you go to a celebrity place, this is the most basic expectation you have. I had to ask them after every meal to please bring the food. Sorry but its not even worth a visit. It's critical for Chef Pillai or his team to reviews this and do mystery shopping. You can see that I took the pictures initially, but later decided not to click as the experience was very poor.

We made sure we visited here during our Kerala visit as the food looked so good. We even managed to meet chef pillai which made the visit even more special, such a nice and humble guy. Can’t wait for him to open his restaurant in London. We got their set menu which was just amazing! You get to try all their signature dishes through the set menus. The food had great quality, loved the food presentation, taste and flavours. This was definitely the best restaurant we visited in Kerala. If you visiting Kerala or from Kerala then this restaurant is a must visit, a brilliant experience for amazing food and great customer service.

Amazing experience at RCP Kochi. It was well worth the wait ! Had the signature items which were all so yummy. Neymeen Nirvana and Inji Puli wings were so packed with flavour. The Unniappam Falooda was so good too. The staff were all so cordial and welcoming. Special mention to Anandhu and Unni who served us. Will definitely visit again…

The food was very yumm😋 but little expensive. We ordered aatinkal soup, nool porotta,Appam, mutta appam, fish Nirvana, paal konju, inji puli chicken wings, prawns roast and veetile kozhi curry.Every item was so unique and tasted like heaven. Nool porotta was so crisp and very tasty. Their signature dish Nirvana was so good in that coconut gravy. Last tried their dessert uniyappam falooda. That also was so delicious 😋.

This is restaurant in La meridian hotel. I was recommended this restraunt and is apparently one of the best in kochi . But frankly I did not find the food to be that good and flavourful. I had ordered chicken wings which was sweet a dry beef which was not flavour. But yes the nool porotha was extremely nice. The service was nice and fast. The above 3 dishes costed me 1.3K
