The most beautiful royal tombs I have seen in my life. It's like a park with beautiful trees and green humps everywhere. Don't climb up the tombs or you will be fined 20 million won. Very picturesque especially during golden hour. A must come.

Beautiful park dotted with large and small burial mounds from the Silla period 1500 years ago. Lovely to walk around as the tree foliage begins its autumnal journey from green to golden brown.

You must visit this historical place!! Within Daereungwon Tomb Complex is Cheonmachong Tomb (Ancient Tomb No. 155), which was excavated in 1973. Cheonmachong Tomb consists of a wooden coffin placed inside an underground chamber mounded with boulders and earth, characterized as a typical upper class tomb of the Silla period. The mound has a height of 12.7 m with a diameter of 50 m, and consists of a layer of rocks collected from streams. Below the rock layer is a wooden chamber that is 6.5 m long and 2.1 m wide, reaching 2.1 m in height, with the wooden coffin at its center. A total of 11,526 artifacts were discovered within the tomb, including Cheonmado, an artwork considered highly valuable as it is Korea's first artwork to be excavated from an ancient tomb.

One of the must-visit sites when in Gyeongju. There are lots of tomb mounds in this area and you can go inside 천마종 which has artifacts and a recreation of the tomb. There is not that much info or exhibitions at the site, so I would suggest researching or going to the museum beforehand and it will give you more background to the site. I went to the museum first and then got a bus to the site later which worked well.

I love to take a walk here in Daereungwon, in the morning.(Opens at 9am btw!) It's peaceful, calm and picturesque. You can see the huge royal mausoleums, take a walk surrounded by wonderful pines while listening to the birds singing. It could be a bit too hot in summer, it's better to visit in spring or autumn. +entry fee is 3000 won for an adult!

Traditions, traditions and again traditions! The Daereungwon Tomb Complex, situated in Gyeongju, South Korea, was a captivating historical site visited in February. This ancient burial ground, nestled amidst picturesque landscapes, revealed the remnants of the Silla Dynasty. Despite the winter weather, the serenity of the site remained undisturbed, offering a glimpse into Korea's rich cultural past. The well-preserved tombs and informative displays provided a fascinating insight into ancient traditions. While weather conditions limited exploration, the allure and historical significance of Daereungwon Tomb Complex made it a must-visit destination in Gyeongju.

Beautiful both during the day and in the night. Externally, they are just big round agglomerates or earth, but the stories of them are fascinating and they are photogenic.

The ancient tombs and burial mounds are so fascinating and give you a glimpse into Korea's rich history. The site is beautifully maintained, and you can really feel the sense of reverence and respect for the past. The surrounding park is also lovely, with lush greenery and peaceful walking paths. It's a must-visit if you're in Gyeongju!

Just what it is, a Tomb complex. Nice to walk around. And then go to the local restaurant by the parking area.

Very nice place, of free admission except for the museum, 3000₩ for each person. Although I went during winter, it was as pretty as the pictures. Recommend going!

This is the only tomb that was excavated and opened for public, no additional fee required to enter the tomb apart from the entrance fee to the whole big complex. One of the guide located in front if the tomb kindly explained in details about the history about this tomb in English! Not far from this location there’s a culture booth where you can watch more about the history while cooling down in an air conditioned room + charging station were also available! Inside the tomb it was surprisingly small(?) but packed with interactive information guide, replicas of the artifacts and it was definitely a must go!

They look just like a bunch of hills from the outside, but there are so many of them!

We got to go inside one of the tombs to see how they were built! They even had a few more languages as translations there than other places. Translations we’re not free of grammatical errors but you understood them just fine !

Beautiful park and a tomb you can visit. I question the entry fee (3000krw), but it is nice to have a stroll here, specially in Spring when it is not too hot. Cherry blossoms all around too.

Feels a bit "touristy" and staged, but a very beautiful setting and interesting artifacts.

Neat curve hill. Interesting afterlife. Like in scene of Mario. Should go in to see how they construct the whole architecture.

The park is picturesque while at the same time historical. It is especially pleasing during the fall season as the trees change color. One of the burial mounds has been excavated and is now a museum where you can see what all the surrounding tombs contain. It is fascinating.

The grounds and park around the tombs were very beautiful and calming, with occasional displays or small museums explaining the burial customs of the ancients. Do NOT try to climb on top the burial mounds, as it will result in 2 years in jail and/or $20,000 fine.

One of the top spot in Gyeongju. Located in the heart of the city close to the other tourist attractions. The place is a pure greenery in the summer. It looks like green carpet spread over the park. The tombs in the park are also beautiful. There is a small pine tree forest inside the park. The place is very colorful and beautiful. Just outside the park there is a famous Gyeongju bread shop.

Fairly large park, and quite beautiful. Lots of burial mounds. Very cheap to go into the park and definitely cool to behold the size of some of the tombs with your own eyes!
