One of the things I love most about spending time in wild places ⁠is often the moments before a photograph is taken, especially with landscape photography. ⁠ ⁠ When you are waiting for the sun to set or the right light, you are given time to pause and reflect. To take a step back from thinking analytically about all of the technical elements of a photograph. For me, I think taking these breaks result in a better images, at least to me, because I take the time to feel that ineffable the "thing" I'm trying to capture in that scene. ⁠ ⁠ Thinking about some of those moments fills me with gratitude and now the excitement that comes with the prospect of getting back on the road again! 🌅

Always an amazing place to come and visit. Situated in a point between Botswana and Namibia. This park is absolutely stunning. If you would like to go on the 4x4 trails do book well in advance as it is always booked. They also have open camps (where you camp in the wild within fences). That is just an incredibly treasured memory for me. Come here every year and would come back again.

The best place in South Africa!! My newest favorite place!! It was amazing, we saw a few storm clouds move over, the field and animals look amazing. Saw almost everything. Would recommend staying inside the park, As you can start the day a bit early and catch more animals in the morning.

Amazing park. Astonishing desert scenery and plenty of wildlife. A remote locations makes it also much less busy and crowded however advance booking of accommodation is still recommended.

We had a great time in the Kgalagadi. Lots of animals and birds to see, even in the 40+ heat of summer. The roads are good but very sandy, you need to lower your tyre pressure. And drive slowly, animals like to run across. The staff at the Tweerivieren entrance and restaurant were super friendly. If you've never been there you need to do it, it's an experience!

I loved the camp site and nature. Game was great. We saw Lions, Leopard and Cubs, Springbok, Blue Wilde Beast, Giraffes, Gemsbok, Marshall Eagle, Pygmy Eagles, Ground Squirrels and many more animals. In two days we drove 495km and enjoyed every moment of it.

A special place, but Kruger still has my heart! That’s the only reason why Kgalagadi gets 4 stars. Would love to venture further into the Botswana side one day. A perfect camping trip with my dad and brother!

My favourite game park by far. A place where you really get properly into the wild and close to nature. If I could go here every year, I would. Friendly staff and clean facilities. No crowds and no tar roads. Often see very different animal behaviour here. I love the Kgalagadi.

For my taste the composition is missing and...for someone who is used to be on his own as in Zimbabwe (where I saw in nine days in October 23 times lions!) two more cars at a sighting are already two too much. The park is out of this world really amazing. Pretty good facilities, Only let down by it’s restaurant, lovely people terrible food and I’ve eaten at most parks, I don’t expect much but shooo!! Sanparks help them out, that’s all they need. Oh and no kitchen at Mata-Mata.

This place is extremely hot in the summer ... 45° + so be aware!! Animals are scarce in the heat so I suggest to leave very early, we saw two cheetahs or leopard not sure as they were far away. Lots of different antelope species can be seen as well as a great variety of birds. We also saw jackal. There are lots of bugs at night so take with extra mosquito repellent!!

Great staff and the place is very clean. The shops are full of things to buy and the animals are not that much. There are loads of varieties lions , cheetahs and honey badgers. This is a great place to come stay and see wild life.

Beautiful Park. Winter is usually not too cold to even camp and is usually less busy. Summer is extremely hot, but it is also your best oppertunity to see rain in this desert landscape.

The awesomeness and serenity of nature here far outweighs the badness of the corrugated roads. Ablutions are always clean. Camps sites can be cramped in camp sites where there are not clearly demarcated sites.

Been to Namibia a few times but did not visit Kgalagadi Transfontier Park. Looks amazing and a great place to relax. Will be on my bucket list of holiday venues.

Transfontier Park is a dry place congested with antelopes, lions, ants, salty water, sand dunes etc.

Wonderful experience. We were lucky enough to be in the park after two years of good rain. Sightings are way rarer but it's wonderful to see the Kalahari look like the savannahs. Staff are great, but some of the facilities are pretty dated and needs some work.

You want to be away from the city noise this is the place to be. I enjoyed every moment of it. The service was also perfect thank you so much. It's worth visiting

Definitely a stop to add to your road trip plans if you are a nature enthusiast. Amazing biodiversity and great trails! 4 x 4 is definitely needed but Mata Mata Rest camp is a must stay!

One of our all time top 3 favourite National park. We have always seen the Lions and it’s the only park we were fortunate enough to have seen Cheetah. You want to sleep inside the park as that earlier entry time makes a big difference in viewing wildlife in their most active times.

This is one of the greatest nature reserves on earth. It feels so remote (It is). The game viewing may not be the best, but the scenery and stargazing makes up for it.

As always this arid park is breathtaking, be it the cats, landscape or accommodation. Recent work at camps have made it even better.

We camped at tweed Rivieren for 2days,therefore we were processed quickly at the border post. Others travel via the park either to Botswana or Namabia. There are a few sheltered sites at the camp,some with electricity. Bathrooms are basic. There are trees for shade. it is a busy campsite as people come and move on quickly. there is a shop with most essentials and a resturant. We saw many birds,squirrels and meerkat at the camp. Game drives were interesting as the terrain looked different all the time. lots of animals (please see pics), we even saw lion and cheetah. The drive would be easier with a 4×4, though we managed in a sedan,reaching most places. Speed limit is 50 and you have to deflate tyres before a game drive. Safety measures,collect and return a permit from the gate for a game drive. It was worth the long trip north. Well worth a visit.

Stark beauty and rugged wilderness defines this park I have visited 3 times. Probably not again. The accommodation is really not up to scratch and even the new chalets are showing signs of falling apart. For me the biggest issue is that half the accommodation have bats living in the thatch, something which should have been sorted out long ago as they are such a nuisance at night. Also the roads are very corrugated and have been graded so low that you can't see anything from a normal car. It is a VERY long drive from anywhere, with temps in the 40s in summer and comms often knocked out by thunderstorms. Saw very little wildlife, very lucky to have one lioness siting in 5 days. Not worth the trip.

You leave the stress behind the dunes

Hot as hell at this time of the year. Good facilities, very well maintained road signs and closely guarded rules to make sure that everyone is safe. Twee Rivieren campsite has the tiniest bit of shade and for that reason we upgraded to a chalet. There was not a chance we would have survived 5 days in the heat of the campsite. The sites at Nossob and Mata-Mata were good - both have pools! Sightings along the routes (not 4x4) were very good. Take tons of warer to drink, more valuable than gold! Well done SAN Parks! KZN Ezemvelo is rubbish by comparison.
