Welagedara stadium is the major ground in Kurunagala district. It is well maintained ground and mainly used to host cricket matches. Sri lanka cricket doesn't use the full advantage of these kind of grounds. And they give matches only to premadasa, pallekelle and dambulla. This stadium can be used to host international test matches. But the authorities only stick to few grounds. If they really want to develop cricket in all around the country, they have to use these grounds and introduce the game to people.

It's one of the largest stadiums in the North Western Province. Specially the big matches of many schools are playing in this ground. Whether the ground is important for the Kurunegala city, there are several issues with the infrastructure facilities. It can be seen that always there's something under construction.
