Specially lot of foreign monks are meditating at this monastery. This place is like heaven. Very silent and peaceful. Well maintained and arranged. Beautiful flowers everywhere. Specially orchids. Open to people between 10am to 12pm. We should adhere to these rules. Please be calm and silent when you visit there.

Nā Uyana Aranya Senāsanaya is a Buddhist forest monastery in Pansiyagama, Kurunegala, Sri Lanka, associated with the Sri Kalyani Yogasrama Samstha. It spreads over and area of more than 5000 acres of forest on the ‘Dummiya’ mountain range. The monastery is residence to about 150 Buddhist monks, both local and foreign. This is one of the oldest Buddhist forest monasteries in Sri Lanka, dating back to the time of King Uttiya (3rd Century BCE). Most Venerable Na Uyane Ariyadhamma Thero was residing here.

Na Uyana Forest Monastery was started by Most Venerable Na Uyana Ariyadhamma Thero. It in the same lines as the Thai Forest Tradition started by Venerable Ajahn Chah. The place hosts around 150 Buddhist Monks & many lives in Kuti’s inside the adjoining jungle. They carry out resident meditation retreats for lay people & it’s a highly respected Monastery in Sri Lanka. I was very fortunate when I visited the place as the Koth Wahansa (කොත් වහන්ස) due to be dressed on Deegawapiya (දීඝවාපිය) Temple was on display.

Na Uyana Aranya (‘Ironwood Grove Forest Monastery’) is one of the oldest Buddhist forest monasteries in Sri Lanka, dating back to the time of King Uttiya (3rd Century BCE). The modern revival of this ancient monastery during the past few decades has seen its emergence as one of the main meditation center's in the country. Today it is again a home to a thriving community of monastic and lay Buddhist practitioners.

It’s a nice calm and quiet place. You can give your offerings to the monks in the monastery. But you have to prebook your slot before that. Don’t disturb the monks or the environment.

(Translated by Google) The forest of Kurunegala Na Uyana, a great forest where the Maharathas lived in the past, present and future, with a very pleasant temperate climate, is a great field for those who are looking for a way to Nirvana. I am also going to be ordained there .... A forest monastery of meditating Buddhist monks who practice authentic doctrine of Lord Buddha. Nearly over 60/ 70 number of monks (only male) who are genuinely interested in pursuing true essence of Buddhism fully engaged in meditation practice. This is the main meditation center of a consortium of Theravadic Buddhist monastries called "Sri Kalyani Yogashrama Sansthawa" founded by most Ven. Kadawedduwa Jinawansa Maha Thero along with most Ven. Matara Gnanarama maha thero. One of the renowned most erudite and hard meditated monks, most Ven. Na Uyane Ariyadhamma Maha Thero was also living here. Laymens could also take shelter here for meditation and they will be given meals during their stay. For me this is the most venerated place of Buddhist monks with an environment of a profound serenity and tranquility perfect for meditation. There are many small cells (Kuti) scattered acrossed the forest where monks reside. Common meditation halls, a medium size stupa, alms giving hall, Sacred Bo Tree, Dhamma discussion hall are some of the other elements of this venue.
