The Kurunegala  clock tower was built in 1922 as a tribute to the officers, who went from the Wayamba province and sacrificed their lives in the First World War. The tower memorial plaque has the following inscribed: "This Clock Tower was erected in memory of those who went from the North Western Province at the call of duty and gave their lives for the empire in the World War in 1914–1918". However, soon after 1945, the tower was also dedicated to the valiant officers who sacrificed their lives in the Second World War. Located at the centre of the city, today the Kurunegala clock tower serves as a landmark of the city. The Kurunegala Court of Law, The Central Market and the Central Bus Stand are also situated in the vicinity of the clock tower.

The Kurunegala Clock Tower is located in the heart of Kurunegala, Sri Lanka. The clock tower was built in 1922 in memory of the soldiers from North Western Province who participated in the First World War and died. The Kurunegala Court of Law, The Central Market and the Central Bus Stand are also near the clock tower. Eleven soldiers from the North Western Province were killed in the First World War (1914–1918), including three Sri Lankans. The tower was erected to honor them, and a memorial plaque on the tower has the following inscribed: "This Clock Tower was erected in memory of those who went from the North Western province at the call of duty and gave their lives for the empire in the World War in 1914–1918" Soon after 1945, the tower was also dedicated to the valiant officers who sacrificed their lives in the Second World War (1939–1945). Quadrangular shape clock tower is constructed with granite stone, cement and wood. The entire tower, especially the top, appears similar to a quadrangular castle. There are concrete and wooden steps inside.

The Kurunegala Clock Tower, an iconic landmark situated in the heart of the bustling city of Kurunegala in Sri Lanka, stands tall as a symbol of historical significance and architectural charm. Erected during the British colonial era, this timeless structure not only tells the time but also weaves together the threads of the city's past. Built in 1922, the Kurunegala Clock Tower was a gift from the then Municipal Commissioner, A.G. Fraser, to commemorate the visit of the Duke of Gloucester. This elegant structure reflects the colonial architectural influences prevalent during that period, showcasing a fusion of classical and British design elements. The clock tower stands prominently in the center of the city, serving as a focal point and a visual testament to Kurunegala's heritage. The clock itself, imported from England, boasts intricate craftsmanship and attention to detail. Its hands move gracefully against the backdrop of the tower's white facade, providing both locals and visitors with a timeless reference to the pace of life in Kurunegala. The tower's four faces ensure that its presence is felt from various vantage points across the city. Beyond its practical function of telling time, the Kurunegala Clock Tower has become a meeting point and a gathering spot for both locals and tourists. The space around the tower serves as a public square, fostering community engagement and social interactions. Its central location makes it an ideal starting point for exploring the surrounding areas, including the vibrant market and bustling streets of Kurunegala. The Clock Tower also holds historical resonance, witnessing the transformations that Kurunegala has undergone over the decades. From the colonial era to post-independence developments, the tower stands as a silent observer to the city's evolution. The preservation of this architectural gem becomes crucial in maintaining a tangible connection to Kurunegala's past amidst the rapid changes of the present. Surrounded by greenery and manicured gardens, the Clock Tower creates a picturesque setting, inviting visitors to pause and appreciate its timeless beauty. The blend of historical significance and aesthetic appeal makes it a popular spot for photography, both for tourists capturing memories and locals reflecting on the city's rich heritage. In recent years, efforts have been made to enhance the surroundings of the Kurunegala Clock Tower, ensuring that it remains a welcoming and attractive space for the community. Renovations and landscaping projects aim to preserve its heritage while adding a touch of modernity, creating a harmonious blend that resonates with people of all ages. In conclusion, the Kurunegala Clock Tower is not merely a timekeeping structure; it is a living testament to the city's history, architectural legacy, and community life. Standing at the crossroads of past and present, it continues to be a beacon that guides the city forward while honoring its storied past, making it an integral part of Kurunegala's cultural identity.

The Kurunegala Clock Tower stands as a simple landmark in the area, without any notable special features. While it marks a point of interest in the city, its primary value lies in its function as a reference point rather than a tourist attraction. For those passing through Kurunegala, it serves as a familiar marker, but it may not be a destination in itself for those seeking unique architectural or historical elements.

This clock tower is located in the heart of Kurunegala city. Kurunegala is the city of North Western Province of Sri Lanka. The area where this clock tower is located is like Lipton roundabout to Colombo. People used this area for demonstrations in the recent past. Now it has change after the installation of traffic lights. However this historical monument was built in 1922 in memorial of the soldiers of North Western province who participate in the World War 1. Soon after 1945, the tower was also dedicated to the valiant officers who sacrificed their lives in the Second World War (1939–1945) However this historical clock tower

There are many very beautiful ancient temples. Tourists' attraction has not yet received a large amount. Tourists can get very high experiences in this city. It was a place that impressed me. There is a beautiful temple above the city. There is a jungle on both sides of the road. You can see animals and birds that are exotic to Sri Lanka. There is a beautiful lake. You can lie down and sit on the stone floor. It is a guard post. There are delicious food and drinks in the city, but the food facilities required by foreign tourists may be lacking. Because the amount of food that is thrown away is high. Foreigners do not like that food and drinks, so inform the station that gets the food before cooking. There are hostels with accommodation facilities. There is public transport to go to Anuradhapura, Nuwara, Polonnaruwa, Colombo. Thank you.
