I
came
to
Sri
Lanka
in
April
2022
with
my
two
teenage
sons.
I
usually
organise
our
trips
myself
and
book
directly
with
hotels.
But
this
time
decided
to
book
our
trip
with
“One
and
Only
travels”
which
was
a
very
professional
company
to
deal
with
from
the
very
beginning.
Himantha
prepares
tailor
made
itineraries
on
request.
From
the
moment
I
contacted
him
I
knew
we
would
book
with
him.
It
took
nearly
two
years
to
arrange
the
trip
as
we
kept
having
to
delay
the
trip
due
to
Covid,
so
he
must
have
done
at
least
10
different
Itineraries
according
to
our
budget,
favourite
hotels
etc.
Himantha
got
good
rates
in
all
of
the
best
hotels
and
there
was
no
way
I
would
have
had
a
similar
standard
of
holiday
&
hotels
had
I
booked
the
trip
directly
with
the
individual
hotels
etc
myself.
Most
of
them
did
half
board
so
we
had
a
good
idea
of
total
cost
before
we
left
and
this
made
budgeting
for
the
trip
easy.
He
was
always
easy
to
contact
and
advise
and
give
honest
answers
and
patient,
and
happy
to
redo
or
change
the
itineraries.
We
met
our
driver
Roshan
Indika
at
Sri
Lanka
airport
as
arranged
and
immediately
warmed
to
him.
We
spent
the
next
11
days
with
him.
Throughout
the
time
he
was
our
driver
and
our
guide.
He
was
an
excellent
guide
full
of
knowledge
and
facts.
His
English
vocabulary
was
great.
He
was
a
careful,
calm
patient
driver.
He
was
a
gentleman,
softly
spoken,
through
and
through,
no
matter
what
situation
we
were
in
or
who
he
was
talking
to.
Nothing
was
too
much
trouble.
We
had
great
chats
throughout
about
life
in
our
countries
and
about
being
parents
and
our
families
and
life
in
general.
The
time
flew.
He
went
above
and
beyond
at
all
times.
He
went
out
early
in
the
morning
and
queued
for
petrol
during
a
time
of
fuel
shortages
in
Sri
Lanka.
He
was
always
punctual
and
checked
in
on
us
without
being
intrusive.
He
spotted
photo
opportunities
constantly,
and
was
always
keen
to
take
photos
for
us.
There
was
never
a
moment
where
he
made
us
feel
demanding
or
that
we
were
putting
him
to
trouble.
He
was
totally
accommodating
of
our
needs,
time
and
space.
If
we
needed
something
it
only
had
to
be
mentioned
once
and
he
would
have
it
on
his
radar.
Whether
it
was
a
bathroom
stop,
getting
laundry
done,
changing
currency,
getting
phone
credit
or
getting
spices
to
bring
back
home,
or
samosas
for
a
snack,
a
present
for
a
family
member
or
getting
a
bottle
of
wine
ahead
of
festivals
where
alcohol
might
not
be
on
offer,
he
thought
ahead
and
made
it
easy.
We
went
to
a
great
cultural
show
in
Kandy
and
he
phoned
ahead
to
get
us
the
best
seats.
He
never
took
us
to
places
where
there
was
a
hard
sell
as
seems
to
happen
in
Sri
Lanka
sometimes.
He
is
a
wonderful
ambassador
for
Sri
Lanka.
Forget
the
5
star
hotel,
and
go
for
the
5
star
guide
to
enhance
your
holiday
experience.

It
is
a
challenging
time
for
Sri
Lanka
at
the
moment.
There
were
fuel
shortages,
protests
and
electricity
cuts.
We
were
not
effected.
We
were
kept
informed
about
them.
All
our
hotels
had
generators
so
electric
cuts
were
not
a
problem.
We
never
had
to
queue
for
petrol
as
Roshan
did
this
before
we
got
up
or
while
we
were
relaxing.
At
our
request
we
went
to
see
the
peaceful
protests
in
Colombo.
We
had
admiration
for
those
protesting
peacefully
for
days
against
government
corruption
and
for
what
they
believe
is
right.
One
of
my
sons
said
witnessing
this
history
in
the
making
was
one
of
the
many
highlights
of
his
trip.
Our
hearts
went
out
to
the
thousands
of
drivers
we
passed
during
our
trips
pushing
their
Tuk
Tuks
kilometres
down
the
road
in
the
line
to
get
diesel
or
petrol,
smiling
as
we
took
some
photos
despite
their
ordeal.
We
were
really
glad
to
be
supporting
the
country
as
tourists.
We
came
into
contact
with
so
many
wonderful
friendly
smiling
Sri
Lankans
in
the
hotels
we
stayed
in
and
places
we
visited.
The
country
needs
to
get
tourism
going
again
after
Covid
and
I
am
delighted
to
have
supported
this
in
some
small
way.
I
would
urge
anyone
to
put
their
worries
aside
and
go
to
Sri
Lanka.
