Whoever answering the phone is so rude, giving bad attitude and hanging up the phone. You are getting paid for your work, so do your job well and don’t act like doing social service. No wonder what happening to Sri lanka with these kind of employees.

Located away from the Kurungela city so a tuk-tuk is needed to get here. Parking available for bikes and cars. Toilets are in a terrible condition. Always good to call them in advance and check if the trains are operating as scheduled.

One of the main railway stations is the main north line. That is the Colombo to (KKS) Kankasanture line. Nicely maintained. All the necessary facilities are there. Specially attached car park with plenty of time, space, and security in Sir Lanka Railways.

The railway station is situated in Gettuwana junction, around 02 km from the Kurunegala bus stand. The station consists of 03 platforms. There’s a cafeteria and lavatory on the 2nd platform. They maintain the station clean. Has a huge car park and can park your vehicle under their security. It will charge some amount. However, there should be more trains that start from Kurunegala as it’s very difficult to find a seat, especially on Monday morning. It will be better to start a bus service that connects the Kurunegala Bus stand with the Kurunegala railway station.

Very poor customer care Outdated infrastructure Poor, late service Poor/No sanitary facilities No proper hygienic canteen Don't book taxi from nearby park as they rip you off. Basically not suitable as a public place !!! The 5* rating (given by few) based on its connectivity to Colombo and Anuradhapura and purely not based on its standards or customer care.

Now Kurunegala railway station modified so much, but still there is a common problem. When we enter to station we can find ticket counters, but to get the train all passengers need to cross the air bridge.. This is too uncomfortable and having a lot chancess to miss the train.. Because young people will be brave.. But old people confuses with this method, because there is a railway track nect to ticket counter, but that one used only for short distance trains and rail busses.. But most of the people thinks that railway track also used for long trip trains.. Better considering public passengers comfortable.. Also, issuing tickets is too slow in Kurunegala.. There are more than 4 ticket counters in Kurunegala station, but most of the times I saw there will be only one or two ticket issuers there, and they only moving from 1 counter to other one.. This is making queues too long.. And waiting time is too high..

Substantially influential railway station in Jaffna- Colombo and Batticaloa- Colombo railway lines. Built in the colonial era, this establishment still has old styled buildings which are sufficiently functioning. Due to the distance to the town center passengers may find it bit inconvenient, but considering the staggering time takes to a ride from Colombo to Kurunegala.

It is a key railway station on the northern railway line. Before the renovations, it was not a very organised station. But after the renovations, it has got a new facelift & the number of platforms have also increased to 3. The station is situated about 2 km away from the Kurunegala town, hence you have to find a separate travel medium to reach the city.

Old train station. Almost every train stops here. Newly renovated. All trains runs late. Including intercity express trains. That's a big failure. Staff not friendly. To reach Colombo quicker this is the best option.

Situated away from the Kurunegala city centre. Limited bus connectivity which is a hassle. The restrooms are dilapidated and a disgrace. The Station Master should be held accountable for this.

The Jaffna Railway Commission report published in 1891 recommended the construction of a new railway line (now known as the northern line) from Polgahawela to Kurunegala and a survey of a line to Jaffna. The line would join the Main Line at Polgahawela Junction, allowing trains to run to the capital, Colombo. Approval to construct the line was granted in 1892 and the new line to Kurunegala officially opened on 14 February 1894 by Governor Sir Arthur Elibank Havelock.[4] Construction of the rest of Northern Line continued, and on 1 August 1905, the first train from Colombo arrived at Jaffna Railway Station. Its a small beautiful station in a busy city.
