Great experience at hiking. Little tough for beginners. Upper view is so beautiful & amazing. Best place to enjoy natural beauty and variety of the environment. Not recommend to climb in rainy season. There's small wind path and rock cave at the top of the mountain. At the foot of the mountain Dolukanda Rajamaha Viharaya is located. Catch "Ganewaththa Bus" from Kurunegala bus stand and get off at "Makuluwewa Junction". Then get a three wheel taxi to the Dolukanda Rajamaha Viharaya.

Dolukanda mountain is a misterious mountain. It is famous among hikers and but first you should get permissions from the monks in the monestery.Venerable monks will provide some advices before you climb on. The hike is hard. Slightly you will find the foot steps, but make sure to go early, itherwise you won't be able to climb the mountain before getting dark. The area becomes fully dark around 4 p.m so make sure to climb down early. If you camp at the top of the mountain, there is a cave no need for tents. You can cook and sleep inside the cave.

Hike will be hard for beginners. (Takes about 1.3hr to reach to top.) Also a nice place if you plan on camping the night. There are ponds at the top but recommend to take enough water to drink. Will be harder to get down under rain, so plan your way down before rains. Also note that you will be entering this hike through a monastery. So no shouting and please don't waste the place with your litter. Safe travels 🙏

Dolukanda temple is situated at the center of the dolukanda forest reservation and it is one of the calm place to visit to do meditation. This is belived to be a part of mountain broken apart when Hanuma carrying medicine mountain from Himalaya. This is still belived to have lots of medicine plants in this forest. There are several mountain peaks and there are several pathes to the top of the mountain . If you are a adventure lover this is one of the ideal place to visit but without interrupting the religoius works of the temple . It is better if you can notify the chief monk before you start the hiking. The hiking is little difficult and it will take around two hours to go to the top of mountain. On the top of mountain there is a flat rock area and will provide a sceneric view of 360 degrees. For this hike its advisable to take enough water , atleast 2l per head.

Great hike for those who are seeking adventures. Total hike will take about 5 hours for an average person. Better to take guidance from a villager because the route to the top is somewhat tricky

Dolukanda has rich history with value since the Rama and Rawana war period and King Buddhadasa era We are visited on long weekend with the poson poya holiday. We started our hiking from Dolukanda temple with our guide at 9.00 am after purchasing for the ticket, it took 2 hours of time to reach the peak view point and the cave throughout the journey we are went to other two view points as well and took some quick relaxation reset. Dolukanda view point is so adorable and surrounded with fantastic environmental and calm Mountain View point We have captured some memorable amazing pictures. Ideal time to hike Dolukanda is Morning hours so you can return back on evening. It took one and half an hour to return and we came back to starting point and completed our journey at around 3.15 pm at some point they are not allowing to campaign you want to get special permission or villager to campaign. It was a great experience felt relax after climbing the mountain.

Such a good place. There are Monks in the temple. They are very good and always give help to anyone specially who are hiking the dolukanda they always give advice how to protect and where is the water tank situated. Also there are few dogs they are barking when you enter the temple but never bite us. So don't angry with them.

Dolukanda" not burning in the Himalayas - The Ghost Mountain in Kurunegala It is popular among climbers, but you must first get permission from the monks. The Venerable Bhikkhu will give you some advice when you get up. It is difficult to increase. In a little while you will find footprints. But be sure to go early. Then you will be able to climb the mountain before dark. Be sure to get off early as the area is completely dark around 4pm. Dolukanda is a famous mountain range because of the Dolukanda Buddhist Temple. Kanda is believed to be directly linked to the great Indian epic. In the Ramayana, this mountain is known as Dolukanda Sanjeevani Kanda and it is believed that part of the Himalayas fell into this mountain when it was taken away by Hanuman. This mountain is an important place of pilgrimage in Ramayana. It is located in the Kurunegala District of Sri Lanka. It is believed that Sanjeevani magical herb can be found in this mountain which can be used to cure many ailments. This mountain has amazingly beautiful surroundings that attract many tourists.

One of the strenuous hikes to the top of the mountain. Takes around 2 to 2.5 hours just to reach top. Although no formal directions on the way to top, one can find the trail except when you are just below the main 90° unclination rock rock. You have to take the right footpath as left one leads to a place where u need a rope to climb. Right foot path of course goes along the mountain base quite a distance and works its way to top. While on top there are arrows marked on rock and in trees. These could be confusing but very helpful if you get lost. Almost 1 to 2 km walk is there along the top of the mountain to get to caves/view points. Better to leave early morning unless you are not planning on camping at the top.

One of the best historical temples. If you want to climb Mount Dolukanda, you have to get permission from the leader of this temple.
