Dolukanda mountain in Sri Lanka is well known for its historical and biological significance. It’s located in the village of Hiripitya in Kurunegala district of Sri Lanka. (The time required to reach the mountain's top depends on the direction you select to climb.)

The journey started from Anuradhapur 🤗.. Four of us came... on bikes 😁... Somehow when we went to the Dolukanda temple, it became like 8.30 😥... I didn't know the roads so I checked the map. 😁... Somehow I came to the temple and asked the details from a brother who was there 🙂.. I didn't come knowing anything because of a planned trip the night before I left 🤒 The dial in the temple gave us a very big details.. He said if you go with a guide, you will get lost 😐.. How lucky we are, there was no one to take us to the mountain that day... When we came, we will go somewhere. Started climbing the mountain thinking 🙂 The beginning was sock 🤗.. It seems like there are many roads to go in the middle... Can't find the roads... But at the same time, a super rain started while on the way... Went there thinking something else happened and went there to find the way as possible 🙂.. No use.. After coming up a little, the fog got heavy along with the rain... More sock now 🙁.. Can't even get back down 😐.. Just like that we landed up the mountain 😁.. Good for everyone Maths now 🥀.. I can't see a world of fog 🤐... I can't figure out where to go 😥... I can't even take out the cam to take some photos, rain 😐.. I messed up with my phone itself 😴.. By that time my phone was Was wet as much as possible 🙁... Found a dog when he was like that 🙂.. ඌ After leaving, he went to a stone pelting 🤩... To be honest, he is our guide 😎.. Thanks to the dog Came to one place.. Stayed in it until the rain decreased.. In the meantime, the mugs burnt like that and ate a fire inside the stone cave 🙂.. Walked around it for three hours until it rained 🤩 And the fog got down... Somehow we went to the places to find roads 🤗.. Satisfied with the journey 😁🍄 That dog came with us to go everywhere you go 🤗... Then we went to the places and went down the hill.. It's about five times 🙁... Then came home slowly after eating well 😁🤩.. We are home around 8.30 pm 🤗.. I have to tell the people who are going to take someone who knows the way... Otherwise, the journey will be annoyed... Even to get lost There is space... so be careful 😊

One of the best hike that I've visited. If you are planning to go for a hike this is the place you must go. The feel you get after you climbed to the Top its amazing. I dont have any words to descrioe. The hike was moderate risky but duration wise the whole hike took around 5-6 hours. Please makesure that you bring enough water, since during the entire hike, only at one place water is available. We managed to get a fanstatic guide (Mr. Mahesh - A very young fellow) He took us through a shortcut. He guided us very well. Must visit to this place, you will not recret.

What a amazing hike finally with local friend from temple side will take more than 3Hrs. It's hard to find water in days without rain, carry more water. In the top of mountain is so charming place, some villagers acting so rude to environment,so sad! don't leave behind anything please, protect this place to any others

If you want to go on just a hike, go somewhere else. But if you’re looking for an adventurous journey, it is better to climb Dolukanda. This was one of the craziest and most adventurous hiking experiences I had in my life. 🇱🇰

It took us 6 hours to ascend to the peak and descend; we had to move swiftly as rain could start at any moment. While there are signs to guide you on the hiking path, reaching the top alone can be challenging – a local guide is highly recommended. The panoramic view from the peak is simply perfect, encompassing jungles, plains, and lakes. Ensure you have proper hiking shoes, enough water, and a sweet treat, as the hike can be quite demanding. Buying a 900rs ticket at the entrance is mandatory.

How to reach: Colombo to kurunagala or Ganewela by train then bus up to Hunupola I used 3 different transport modes in each I visited. Climb starts behind the temple. We saw Deduruoya, yakdessagala to the summit. And explore ruins, caves on the top. In fact it takes more then 6 hrs to explore all that otherwise reach the top takes only an 1.5 hrs used terrain maps to reach to summit. Guide would take 1500/- or more from the right oppersite of the temple.

A place with very old history. You can still see ancient ruins laying over there. Hike to mountain top is not a hard one. I would say mid- hard. Route from Kumbukgate side is easy to track. Some said route via Wellawa road is hard to track. Hike to top of the mountain will take about 1-2 hours depends on your speed. Enjoy but dont leave anything behind.

Dolukanda is an important milestone in the history of Sri Lanka. Dolukanda is located in the Kurunegala District of the North Western Province. About 15 km on the Ganewatta road from Kurunegala you can see Dolukanda in the far right. Dolukanda has many events during the reign of Rama Ravana as well as the reign of King Walagamba. This is a place where very valuable and rare herbs are found in abundance. Dolukanda is a climbers' paradise with timeless fame. At the same time other environmental damage is increasing.

Dolukanda is a medium adventurous hike and you can reach the top of the mountain within around 2-4 hours. There are plenty of paths to reach the top and but if you go without any knowledge you can get lost.

We went through Doluwa. Came to Kurunegala. Then took a bus to Godagala Junction. From there walked to the Rankirimada Raja Maha Viharaya Temple. From there we met with the trail path & it's about a 2km hike & it took us around 3 hours to get to the top. Bring plenty of water if you are planning to go during dry season. Because there is no water up. There is a vlog I did. You can check it out on my YouTube channel. It's "Hidden Dutchman"

Awesome hike ⛰ Exhausted 😥 Bring at least 1-2L water hire a guide paths everywhere. It’s confusing. Don’t leave the crew. Make sure that you’ve permission to visit if not please do so. It’s illegal to enter without permission. A guide will charge about 4000LKR. It’s at least a 2hrs hike to the cave. Also it would be slower when hiking with girls 😉 it’s a hard path.

One of the best hikes I've ever been.not too hard to climb.but there are several paths to the top of the mountain. The environment is so peaceful and the diversity is marvelous.💚It is better to contact a guide to go this hike as there is a possible chance of getting lost in the woods. FYI : remember to carry enough water with you and please be polite enough to bring all the garbage you take with you.

I am just back from a month going around in Sri Lanka, a very beautiful country, and I must say that from all the hikes and experiences around the country, this is one of the top ones. The place is gorgeous, and Mahesh, our guide, did take excellent care of us; he knows the place, the interesting surroundings, is fun, and gave us the best tips to go around. I really recommend it. The best guide in the entire trip
