This place is amazing! Wild horses everywhere, just chilling around in the sun. Even if you get close to take a picture, they will not run away, however be careful please! I’m not sure how to get there by public transportation, we got there by car.

What a splendid location! We visited on a rainy day and were pleasantly surprised to have the entire place to ourselves. It’s a truly off-the-beaten-track destination. The cape is renowned for its native wild horses (Misaki-uma), national natural treasures bred by samurai for warfare. Around 100 of them roam freely on the hills. They’re quite calm and well-behaved, but it’s best to maintain a safe distance. The view from the lighthouse was spectacular, even in the rain. This spot is definitely one of my Kyushu favorites. I highly recommend it, especially for nature and tranquility lovers. Just be mindful of your step, though, as there’s horse manure around.

A very beautiful place. But difficult to go without private transport. the view from the watch tower is amazing. Also you can take photo with the horses.

An amazing place with wild horses around We visited there in July and perhaps it’s too hot that many horses hide in the shadow XD Probably could have seen much more if we go in s milder weather Tranquil and not packed with tourists Road trip there maybe a bit difficult coz the roads are a bit curved and narrow and would get quite dark near sunset Definitely worth a visit and please assign enuf time to spend there (1-2 hours even if you won’t go up to the lighthouse)

Really cool seeing the clouds roll over the hills. Beautiful ocean view!

You will like you entered inside the Windows vista, but there will be horses around you.

Horses lazily trotting around in the sunshine, great landscapes, seascapes and skyscapes to snap away at and even some abandoned hotels to give a post apocalyptic feel! It costs 400yen to enter the Cape which goes to the upkeep. If you want nice open spaces, great views and horses wondering the hills check it out :)

Can't say more good things about this place. It was one of the highlights of my entire trip to the Kyushu island. Wild horses grazing peacefully with you as you sit looking out into the sunset. Gate closes at 6pm so arrive before then.

The wild horses are amazing and the people working here very kind but the facilities are lacking. Many abandoned building around

👍👍 I went by car, but there was a gate on the way and I paid 400 yen for wild horse conservation activity cooperation. When I parked my car at the parking lot at the end of the station and headed for the lighthouse, I paid an entrance fee of 300 yen per person. I don't think there are many lighthouses...
