We dropped in here to escape the heat and man we were so surprised at how nice this place is. We sat and had a few happy hour ice cold beers and talked to the staff. You can escape Kuta and get some reprieve from the Kuta noise. We were so impressed that we came back 2 days later for lunch and every dish served was simply amazing. It may be easy to miss this place from the street but if you go seeking it you will find it and hopefully love it as much as we did, reminiscent of old school Bali. And for all those who have told me time and time again to jump off a bridge there is video of that here.

Walking through the entrance way, the change from street market to a beautiful and peaceful garden dining area does not seem real. Once seated by the friendly staff, you have a good selection of wines, beers and cocktails at a reasonable price. The menu has a great selection of traditional Balinese meals as well as some western foods for the fussy eaters. The Rice Table meal is highly recommended, giving you a delicious, sampling selection of Indonesian cuisine. Amenities are excellent. This wonderful restaurant will not disappoint, a real gem in Kuta!

If you've dined in Bali your idea of excellent might be that the service staff at least brought you your food. Here the service is actually excellent. As a native New Yorker I felt like I was receiving service like back home. The food, especially the seafood we had, was so delicious. We've been to several cities around the world and my wife and I considered this restaurant our second favorite restaurant we've been to so far. Again, if you've dined in Bali then you know that many places in Bali are bad imitations of other foods. This restaurant has been here for over 45 years and there's a good reason. The dessert was the icing on the cake, no pun intended. If you've been let down by "local food," and you're probably searching right now because you've been let down, then you must stop here.

The presentation and atmosphere in this restaurant was exceptional. Very beautiful garden restaurant, it feels like your separated from the busy crowd of Bali. I had the set menu, large variety of samplers to try and very clean and beautiful presentation. The taste was good but average in my opinion. H/e, the dessert was very unique and delicious.

Came here again and again… a little hidden gem and oasis that serves good local and western food. Reasonable prices on menu, limited wine selection though (only 2 choices on each wine verities). Poppies is a must when in Bali. The food, the gardens. The restaurant has been around for over 50 years. We chose to do the tasting menu. It's a great way to experience many if the meals.

We were initially quite disappointed when we arrived as most of the seats were outdoors and the restaurant would have been beautiful to dine in on a sunny day. It was raining when we arrived so it was really quiet and the place looked gloomy. The picture menu honestly did not do its food justice - we struggled to decide because nothing stood out. But we were eventually really impressed with what was served! I had the barramundi and it was grilled perfectly, and the fish was fresh. Everything from the sauce to the garnish was flavourful, I would say it was one of the best meals I had during my entire trip in Bali. Don't miss this place if you're close by, you won't regret!

Have been to Poppies plenty of times in the past and always had great service and food. This time was a little disappointing, the restaurant was extremely busy and they were understaffed which contributed to a 2hour wait for our meal and having the food come out lukewarm. The food was average. The service was still lovely and will return again, perhaps on a night that isn’t so busy for them.

Went to Poppies as a kid with my parents so had to return as an adult. Lovely garden atmosphere off a very busy street. Had pina colada cocktail in carved coconut $17AUD. Ordered seafood platter for 2. Was ok, nothing exceptional. I think some of the seafood may have been frozen. Should have ordered the Indonesian sampler for 2 which looked very popular. Good experience but over priced for what it was.
