The best Bondowoso City Icon

The Gerbong Maut (lit. death carriage car) Monument is a historical marker of Indonesia's independence struggle. This monument was established to commemorate the fall of the republican warriors as the prisoners of war. They were killed when they were transferred from Bondowoso to Surabaya by using small and crowded freight cars. The sculptures of freedom fighters who were portrayed were rushing out of the carriages were a symbol of the spirit of their struggle for independence. There are two other carriages currently in Malang and Surabaya.
