The location is marvellous with great ambience calm area with backwaters (in front of Vembanad lake and near Vaikkom boat jetty). PWD rest house has some 8-10 rooms one building is newly inaugurated (Jan 2018). stayed at a suit room in new building where it was a clear evidence of poor planning. The room had five sections without much clarity on why they constructed like that way. There is a visitors area inside the room and it has good furnitures. But your bed room and toilet, dressing area are all connected through this visitors area !!! There is a balcony section from the bed room but with nothing to see!!!!! The rest house has a restaurant named lakeside kitchen, it is with a decent menu.Parking area available is excellent The up keeping of the new property itself was poor There is no TV or AC inside suit room which question its name . The bed sheet was also of poor condition and no pillow covers provided in suit room !!!!! The property has great potential but it is kind of example that Govt can’t do business. The rest house has a restaurant with decent menu. There is excellent parking area available. The up keeping of the new property itself was poor as I got dirty toilet with leaky pipes. There is no TV or AC inside so called suit which the office person said will come soon. The bed sheet ( not linen) was also of poor condition. The property has excellent potential but it is kind of visible that Govt cannot do business. Hope things will be noticed by PWD authorities .

Extremely hot and humid and not worth it. A very nice alternative for a small premium is the KTDC Motel located adjacent to this place

This rest house was run with a few rooms in the old bldg which was very bad and smelly but now PWD has added new good rooms in the new bldg. The procedure to book rooms are cumbersome. One has to send a written request by mail to Ex.Engr PWD and await allotment. The rates are very high. Rs.1000/- and Rs.2000/- in the new bldg and Rs.600/- for the old and smelly rooms. A canteen facility is available.

The rest house is located near lake side. Very good car parking facilities. Canteen present inside rest house. Can enjoy the sunset from this rest house compound. Normal rooms and suit rooms are available. 600 Rs per day for normal room and 2000 Rs per day for suit room. Suit rooms are air conditioned and spacious. Govt employees have to pay only half the amount. Online reservation facility is available for all PWD rest houses. Ferry, Vaikom beach, Children's park, Vaikom Mahadeva temple etc are some of the attractions near this place.

Amazing atmosphere, clean and good service

I felt it's normal. The non veg items including fish items doesn't felt as fresh though the place is famous for fresh water fish
