Beautiful architecture 🥰 the domes and pillars , chandeliers and the ambiance is just wow . this place is lighted up for Christmas and new year ❤️ such a beautiful scene it was. Must visit this place during Christmas 🎄 and new year time. The entire place will be colourful and glowing . The church stands tall and u can view the entire church will standing on the marthandam bridge. The panoramic view of the church is just wow. Tbh this place gives u positivity and such a divine place. Joy of the world will be seen here on the month of December.

This is an excellent architecture seen in entire district. Church looks so royal. It is also surrounded with beautiful trees . Now we can get a clear view of the church from top of the marthandam bridge.

I am a visitor of this church. Wonderful decorations for Christmas 2019. So many people are visiting this church like exhibition. Such a beautiful structure designed by British. This church built by British people and now maintaining by our people. I hope all Marthandam people use to come here for seeing lights at Christmas and New Year time. If we see in eagle view at night time it was awesome. But I couldn't take a photo of that eagle view. If I get a chance will take and upload here.

Marthandam CSI Church is one of the largest district churches in the Kanyakumari diocese in India. It has the privilege of being the center of various services connected with the Diocese, such as schools, colleges, hospitals, an embroidery industry, a book depot, a press and also a shopping complex.

The church was built by Rev. Robert Sinclair. Sinclair was born in Scotland and came to India after his ordination as a minister on 3 August 1910. He succeeded Rev. H.I Hacker in 1919, and came to Marthandam in 1920. Rev. Sinclair served from 1919 to 1939. On 26 July 1924, the foundation stone was laid by Rev. C.G. Marshall. It took ten years to complete the construction work and Rev. Sinclair personally labored with devotion to fulfill his vision. His dream was to make a beautiful place of worship for the emerging congregation in Marthandam. The church was completed and dedicated on 13 May 1933

The church carries nearly 90 decades of legacy. It was built by a Scotland missionary Rev. Robert Sinclair. The church is very beautifully decorated with lights during the Christmas time which attracts everyone who pass by. I have not attended church service here though. The church elders can definitely consider praying and decide about continuing this lighting culture for Christmas considering the cost of it as true Christmas is not about lighting the church but enlighting the hearts.
