⚠️ Caution if your having problems on claim up, its not suitable place. Because this place located in top of small hill.. Carry water bottles or food if u needed. On the bay you don't get anything. Apart from that, wonderful historical place to visit. It's basically jain thirthankaraa located top of that hill. Also we can see Statue of bagavathatii Amman.

Good place to spend half a day with family. As one has to ascend nearly a kilometer to reach the place, this place is not recommended for aged peoples. The place is well maintained and there are small shops for water, cool drink and snacks. They are charging 40 rupees for car parking.

Visited in the morning hours...they'll open only at 8 am...if we enter at 8 in the morning, there'll be a cool atmosphere all around ..you have to walk 1km uphill along a rock paved path... Stone benches are kept for resting in btwn if you need...While on top you can enjoy a very calm and quiet area ...and the view is refreshing...the place is well maintained...ample parking facilities with parking ticket charges of Rs.40 for a car..no ticket for entering other than this..better to go on working days.

Chitharal is located about 45 kilometers away from kanniyakumari. It is famous for the Rock-cut temple. Hillock at Chitharal has a cave containing Rock-cut sculptures of Thirthankaras and attendent deities carved inside and outside dating back to 9th Century A.D. King Mahendra Varman I was responsible for the Jainism influence in this region. It was converted into Bagavathy Temple in the 13th Century A.D. Cars and Vans can go upto the foot of the hill. One has to walk for about 10 minutes to reach the temple. The Jain images have been preserved by the Central Archeological Survey of India. It comes under Vellankode panchayat.
